I remember reading somewhere that this plugin is still being developed, so that it can be integrated with your custom theme. If you did a couple of minutes of digging to check the output you’d easily have found the classes that are wrapped around the various parts of the theme.
Is this still being developed? Is it causing issues on my site?
For example: https://www.smoladesigns.ca is using it but might be causing PHP errors or JS errors.
This plugin did not work at my site for so long
]]>Updating does not work
TypeError: wp.updates.l10n.updatingLabel is undefined shiny-updates.js:38:4
I have a multisite install and the update buttons on the update-core page used to work very well. I am not sure when they stopped working but now the update button changes to the “updating” version but nothing happens. I see the following error in the JavaScript Console:
TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating wp.updates.l10n.updatingLabel.replace’)
What can I do to make it work again?
]]>Does anybody have any advice on how to integrate Shiny Updates into another plugin? Let me explain… I’ve developed a couple of plugins where, as part of their options screens, I’ve added links to other plugins that provide extra functionality. I do this by adding in thickbox and then providing a link to the plugin, using the same URL standard as the “Add Plugins” page uses. All was fine until Shiny Updates was integrated into Core and now this doesn’t work properly – the modal window works but the install button doesn’t.
So, is there something additional I should be doing to allow Shiny Updates to work within my own plugin page?
Any help with this will be appreciated.
]]>Hi,
I’m currently using WordPress 4.6.1 which has part (or most?) of this plugin already embedded in the Core. What is NOT happening is that I still have to individually update Themes and Plugins.
Will “Automatic” Shiny Updates become part of the next release of WordPress, or will I still have to install an additional Automatic Updates Plugin to achieve that goal?
Which current Automattic Updates Plugin is the one that is the most compatible with Shiny Updates (and you would recommend with WordPress 4.6.1)?
]]>Hi there.
Great plugin, been working well so far. This post is to share what might be a little problem with Shiny.
Today there were 2 plugin updates and 1 theme update. I am using Divi by Elegant Themes. When I clicked ‘update all’, the 2 plugins updated fine, but there was an error updating the theme. It said I am already using the current version of Divi (3.0), but I wasn’t. The circular arrows just kept turning, until I refreshed the page. I was then told there was a theme update. Tried again, no dice. Emptied server and browser cache, cleared all cookies, same problem.
Disabling just Shiny Updates and using the default WP updater allowed the theme to be updated. I have since re-actived Shiny and it says everything is up to date.
Incidentally, there were previous Divi updates which worked using Shiny.
]]>Hi there,
I must be missing something, but I was/am under the impression this plugin was going to be built into WP core. At least I have just updated to 4.6 and further updates are still using ‘The bleak screen of sadness’.
Yes, I have tried it on a localhost test site and it works great. Do I now have to install Shiny on my live site?
]]>Hi folks,
nice changes, I like them a lot. However, I always have to go on the actual plugin page to check for people’s up and down votes (Compatibility Section), as this is a helpful indicator as to determine whether the plugin is (probably) safe to apply. I would like to see those ratings in the new display too, eliminating yet one further step in the update process.
]]>With the recent update requiring 4.6 alpha, this no longer works on current installs.
Is it possible to get the last version somewhere to run?
PS – really have enjoyed using this. Can’t wait to see it in Core and hopefully even further improved functionality.
]]>First the notice said I had three plugins to update. I go to the update page and learn that I actually have four. So I hit “update all”, but only three start updating. The fourth I had to hit the button separately.
Then notices of updating failure start appearing, and I learn that five out of the four updates failed—that was not a typo. So I refresh and learn that all updates actually succeeded.
OS: Windows 7
Browser: Internet Explorer 11
Note: Not my computer, so I can’t update anything.
]]>This plug-in works great for plug-in installs.
However, when I try to update a theme (Divi theme) is just says updating eternally. If I click on the theme details, and click UPDATE on there, a message comes back saying it’s already on the latest version (even though it is not).
I had to disable Shiny Updates in order to update the Divi theme.
Where is the plugin & theme feature gone? No longer will have this or will have individual update new feature on new version?
]]>Will this Plugin be included in the WordPress 4.5 Release (tomorrow)?
]]>IMO it’s better to fix this:
A fancy description describing what’s going on here.
Also, didn’t find the plugin on github, thus can’t make a PR.
]]>How about changing the “Installed” button to be clickable and say “Activate” once the plugin has been installed? So that we don’t need to go to plugins > installed plugins, and activate it there?
