]]>Hi, I’m using Shareaholic for WordPress v7.8.0.1
I’d like to be able to FORCE the behavior of the email share button to open the mailto: link in a NEW TAB.
Right now, on my browser, it’s opening in the same window.
I’ve seen a post about this from two years ago. At that time, Shareaholic replied that this was a browser-specific setting, and each visitor would have a different experience based on their own browser settings.
However, this is not good enough. Most users are not aware of this setting, and will simply be annoyed that they were exited out of the website they were visiting.
I believe Shareaholic should have a way of OVERRIDING the user’s browser settings regarding mailto: popups.
Please know if there is a way to implement this at this time.

]]>I have a custom post type for a directory type WordPress site. The Related Posts is working fine for these custom post type posts. However Promoted Content never appears. I set the Monetization settings to Medium with 6 boxes of related content below the post and all 6 show related posts from my site. If I change the Monetization settings to MAX, the same results – zero promoted posts/ads appears.
Is this a limitation with Shareaholic? If so, can you provide a code snippet that I can insert into the custom post type template so the promoted content does appear? Or if a bug can you please fix. Thanks for your help…

I changed the main.css with these rules:

I put the code snippet on my single.php file to display the buttons on all the posts.
But the buttons appear within the post, not as floating buttons, even though I’ve signed up on your site and activated the floating share buttons option (as explained here https://blog.shareaholic.com/floating-share-buttons).
Could you tell me what else need to be done so I can display the floating buttons on my posts please?

]]>Hi, there’s something I don’t understand… when I go to page SOURCE why is Shareaholic loading some “This site is powered by Shareaholic” code on EVERY PAGE despite having it setup to show buttons and related content ONLY on posts???
Is that really necessary??? Can’t the plugin function correctly without loading that code on every damn page?
I bet that consumes a lot of CPU and RAM for no good reason at all.
This is also conflicting with one of my other plugins which is why I’ve noticed the issue in the first place and made me contact you guys.
Please offer ASAP the possibility somewhere in the settings to disable this “This site is powered by Shareaholic” showing up on all pages.
Because like I said there are 3 main reasons:
1 – Conflicting with one of my other plugins
2 – Most likely needlessly consuming lots of CPU and RAM
3 – Slowing down the site!!!!!!!!

I like this plugin but I’d really like to disable URL shortner. I don’t want my visitors to hesitate in front of an ambiguous shortened URL which isn’t much shorter than my %post_id% permalinks anyway. Could it be ever possible to use Shareaholic but without URL shortner functionality?

]]>So, after hours and HOURS of trying to make it happen, I finally got the Shareaholic share buttons to appear in a modal window that gets its contents from an AJAX call.
WARNING: My solution is very, very hacky, but seems to work for the most part. So, it’s likely this is entirely my fault and there’s just nothing that can be done about it.
I have the plugin installed on my main site and I have things connected to shareaholic.com to get metrics, run reports, that kind of thing. I created a new location for the modal window buttons on the Shareaholic site and gave them some custom styling. Since (as near as I can tell, shortcodes aren’t able to be pulled into AJAX calls very easily, if at all), I kind of had to hack things together. As near as I could tell, all the shortcode did, really was out put an empty div with some data- attributes assigned to it, so that’s what I did:

Still nothing appeared in the modal window, so using the advice here, I was able to add this code as well:
$return .= '<script type="text/javascript">Shareaholic.init_apps()</script>';
And that seems to work. Share buttons get pulled into the modal and I’m able to share just fine. The only problem is, it doesn’t seem to recognize my custom location styling that I set up on shareaholic.com and looks to be just displaying the default share buttons (with “Sharing is Caring”).
Any idea why this is? I would have thought that the data-app-id attribute would take care of that, especially considering, my account id is already established on the parent page.
Like I said, this is a very hacky solution to my problem, but I thought I would at least put it out there to see if anyone had any suggestions of things to try to get the custom buttons pulled in there. Any help provided would be much appreciated. Thanks!
