Got >90% of posts on 5.2 (imported 555 and ran it for one month to test, then 10-20 months at a time to not break anything)
Worked like a charm, saved me a major headache, and saved me 120 USD (someone’s selling a similar solution for that price!)
Had a few false finds, not sure why, going to look into the reason eventually, maybe I’ll remember to post!

Four years later and (nearly) two major-version WordPress releases later and it still works flawlessly…gotta love well-written software. Using this in conjunction with the also ancient-but-fully-functional Tumblr Importer to help fleeing Tumblr refugees migrate safely to self-hosted WordPress.

It simply didn’t recognize any images in any of the posts, and so didn’t work. ??

I just ran this for a client who had 1,298 posts. Almost all of their posts had images, but no featured image. OBVIOUSLY, I backed up the database first — just to be safe. (DO THIS!!!)
The first time I ran the plugin from Jan 2009 – Jan 2018 and it fixed most of the posts, but strangely missed a few here and there (gave message “Problem with image”). So I split the batches into years. Did 2009, then 2010, then 2011, etc.
This is a really well-coded plugin and I’m so thankful to the developer for saving my client and I thousands of hours (and I don’t think I’m exaggerating).
PS. I NEVER leave reviews of WordPress plugins. But you made my life very happy for a moment, so I wanted to make yours the same. ??

This tool can add feature images for posts that do not have one. This makes it easier for open graph plugins to figure out the right image too.
I my opinion this and OG should be merged into WP generally.

It simply ruined my WHOLE MEDIA library.
Not adding any featured image / erasing all previous images available.

Works perfectly!

I was very pleased that I was still able to update my posts with this plugin. Can’t speak to its security, but it worked functionally very well on hundreds of posts without featured images.

You made exactly what i was looking for, thank you very much! Tried other similar plugins they are propose this feature as paid version.
After installing decided to write review as gratitude to your work.
So the problem one: If images located not in ../wp-content/uploads/ folder plugin generates an error:
ID: 4
Title: Find differences in pictures
Image: Problem with the founded image
2015-11
ID: 5
Title: Find the difference - game 4
Image: Problem with the founded image
2015-11
Nevertheless i guessed to copy all images to ../wp-content/uploads/ folder and they appeared as featured.
Second problem: Actually this is not a problem, only want to point you on one mistake. As you may see log contains “founded” word. Should be “found” this is an irregular verb.

This Plugin works. It set features image in 4000 post in just 25 to 30 sec.

I had 512 posts each containing at least one image – but the “featured image” was not set on any of them. I needed an image from each post to be associated with it as a Featured Image for use in a theme – and this plugin did exactly that! It scanned through all 512 of the posts – assigned the first image it found in each as that post’s Featured Image – and saved me from having to edit each post and do this manually!

NOTE: This plugin only works with images attached to the posts. Currently working on images added directly into the Editor, it will be available soon in a new release version. Thanks for your patience.
UPDATE: The plugin has been updated to search also image tags in the editor and not attached to the post in the database. Version 1.2.0
