I’m writing in today because upgrading php to v. 8.2 results in hundreds of php deprecation warnings “Creation of dynamic property”. No errors, just these deprecation warnings. Functionality is unaffected; but I thought it best to submit a ticket regardless.

Hello, I also used hook – transition_post_status in my plugin. But I use it in an ajax request. Your plugin in the method called – siq_post_status tries to write information about the post status change to the log. And if post status change via ajax, the plugin returns a PHP error Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: ftp_fget(): Argument #1 ($ftp) must be of type resource, null given in /var/www/html/learn-financial-modeling/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php:146
My option to fix this is to add this check to the siq_post_status method before $this->logFunctionCall(__FILE__, __CLASS__, __FUNCTION__, __LINE__) – add this – if(wp_doing_ajax()) { return; } and do not log this call, or you need to change the logFunctionCall function. In fact, in any case, I need to change the code of your plugin, I hope you ca fix it or advise me how to get around it so that there is no error.

The “for” text in the Search Results on the results page can’t be altered in the backend settings for the “Results” page options. Here I can alter everything else that I want except for this. The site is in German, and now the “for” is the only text in English on the results page where it states “Zeige Ergebnisse 1 bis 10 von 12 for ‘d’ ” (Show results 1 to 10 of 12 for ‘d’). The “for” text is not wrapped in a span element. Thus, I can’t even hide it with CSS and add an after-pseudo class to add my preferred text “for”. I tested by switching the site’s language from English to German and it didn’t alter the text. Please assist

When I try “Full Resynchronize Posts” I get the error message:
“500 Internal Server Error. Please try again.”

Hello. Love the plugin. I’ve left a 5 star review; and am a paid user; as this is far and beyond the best search solution I’ve come across for Woocommerce. Having search results indexed and served from an offsite CDN is crucial; and yours does this simply and elegantly.

My issue today is that Chrome issues the following screenshotted console warnings; and I am curious if there is a solution in the works. Presumably, this will affect our ability to obtain accurate search analytics in the searchIQ dashboard. I thank you for your time.

UPDATE: I have managed to identify this as a problem with the Events plugin I am using, weird timestamp set-up. I have removed Events from the search and successfully resynchronized.

Hi, I have been using SearchIQ on a relatively new website for a couple of months; it listed all posts and pages very happily at first. Today I attempted to resynchronize all pages, posts & events and I got the error: Invalid timestamp format. The number of posts now indexed: 0. I have an error log listing 8-10 pages but to be honest I don’t understand it. I’d be grateful if you could let me know where I’d start trying to solve this, thanks.

Around 2.5 years ago I asked for help with the following problem: the thumbs in my search results are not real thumbs, but scaled down versions of my featured images. In other words: browsers need to download the full image, just to show an image which is smaller as a fingernail.

A few days ago I finally figured out how to do it. As it seems that every single site I checked has a similar problem, I give here a detailed explanation how I fixed it: go to ‘configuration’ and stop thinking logical ?? You might think that you don’t need to touch the 3th field (optional – image from custom field) because you are probably ok to generate thumbs from your featured images. However, that seems not to be the way it works;-) I found out that searchiq always uses the featured image but when you select a custom field, searchiq will use the thumb stored in that custom field (if any). In other words: column 3 just shows the location of the thumb you want to use, not the location of the image you want to use to create a thumb. Not sure if this was the intention of the creators of this wonderful plugin, but this is how it works on my site.

So, by selecting _siq_post_thumb_url in the 3th column – which seems to be the field were searchiq stores it’s generated thumbs – your search results will show the small thumbs (a hash name ending on _s – test in webmaster tools). The result is that your search results load much better.

However, now I have new problem: these small thumbs are perfect on desktop browsers, but on mobile devices, searchiq will show a larger thumb image. And the small ‘_s thumbs’ are really too small for this, resulting in a very blurry image on mobile devices. That should not be a problem as searchiq automatically creates a second – larger – thumb (ending with _m) however I see no way how you can display it on mobiles, and still serving the small thumbs on desktop devices.

As a temporally solution, I now serve the larger thumba to all devices (in column 3 of the configuration page, use _siq_post_thumb_url_large as custom field). This looks good on all devices, but basically I am still serving an image which needs to be scaled down by the browser for the majority of my users (but of course scaling down a thumb is already a big improvement compared to scaling down a full sized image).

I’m sure there is a simple way to fix it, I just don’t see it ;-(

Hello! We’ve been using SIQ for several years and are running into a weird issue that came out of nowhere. We are trying to configure several facets on a site, after successfully testing the same facets on an exact clone for testing purposes. Now, facets are refusing to save on live, and the PHP log has these warnings that correlate to when we try to save the data:

We also noticed that the backend of the SIQ dashboard (not the WP site) seems to be a bit slow, and we’ve encountered some errors. Is there any issue going on with the SIQ server right now? Do you have a status page?

Can I pass a product category as parameter and get back results showing only products from that category? I don’t see a taxonomy parameter in the shortcode docs… is there a way to pass the parameter programmatically (i.e after submit a form then call searchiq by do_shortcode or using a php function) ?

The facet solution after the user search term its not what I need, I just need to pass the categories and query by code not search box.

Let me start by saying I love this plugin. It’s far better than any search plugin I have used on my site.

I am having some issues styling the dropdown on the search results page.

I have been able to style the font colour and the border radius of it but I am unable to style the background colour and the border radius of the dropdown menu items.

I am unable to style these from looking at the css in the dev bar of the browser and can’t see anywhere from the settings that this can be done.

Could you give some pointers as to how I would style it so that the background of the dropdown is a colour of my choosing and also the border radius of the dropdown is 0px.
