Hi there! I encountered an issue with the Search & Filter Free plugin where searching by tags resulted in a 404 error when using a custom permalink structure. The search worked fine for categories but not for tags.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Set up the Search & Filter Free plugin with a form to search by name, category, and tag.
2. Use a custom permalink structure.
3. Submit a search using only tags.

Expected Behavior:

The search should return results without resulting in a 404 error.

Actual Behavior:

Submitting a search with tags resulted in a 404 error page.

Solution:

To resolve the issue, I modified the URL generation in the plugin’s code:

1. I added the following line to correctly get the tag base: $tag_base = ( get_option( 'tag_base' ) === '' ) ? 'tag' : get_option( 'tag_base' );
2. I updated the URL path to include the tag base correctly: $tag_path = $tag_base . '/' . $tags . '/'; instead of $tag_path = 'tag/' . $tags . '/';

This change ensured that the tag URLs were generated correctly, eliminating the 404 error when searching by tags.

My Question:

I would like to know if there are any existing filters or actions in the plugin that could be used to make this change update-proof, since direct changes to the plugin files can be overwritten with future updates. I couldn’t find anything about it in the documentation.

The search result shows results from the “Namur” categorie AND the “Architect” categorie. It should display results tagged in the 2 categories. Does the “operators” parameter only work within a taxonomy and not across several taxonomies? Can you help me?

I think your plugin is awesome but I have a problem.

When I add attributes with shortocode on my website the terms assigned to attributes aren’t ordered as it is in wp-admin.

So, for example, I have attribute Space area (for air conditioners shop) and, although I odered that as I prefer, in output of your plugin they are ordered wrong. For example, the term “up to 20 m2” is in the last place and it should be first.

Hi I love the plugin but, it is lacking a lot to make it compliant with WCAG standards, an example is that labels are displayed as h4 tags, also the range dates lacks labels and are users can not use the keyboard to use the calendar.

Could these features be improved to meet Success Criterion 2.4.6?Headings and Labels at least?

I’m trying to filter search results by Post Type (in this case Team Members, which is listed in the admin searchandfilter-settings section as members).

When I see the results, it shows the only members page, but among all post results.

The post_types=page doesn’t work either, showing all post results.

Hello, it’s been several days that I am looking for a plugin that would allow me to filter the search on my site, Search & Filter seems perfect, but when I use the basic shortcode on a page, for some reason whenever I try a filter in the dropdown categories, I get no results and this message :
404 Not found
Unfortunately the page you requested could not be found.
Am I doing something wrong?

Can you please update your plugin to explicitly declare either HPOS compatibility or incompatibility? Right now, WooCommerce is classifying your plugin as HPOS incompatible. This is because you have a “WC tested up to” statement in the plugin header and no explicit compatibility declaration.

Are you able to search for things that aren’t posts/pages/movies? I’m trying to make a team member gallery where you can sort by different factors like occupation, year, etc, but those are all custom attributes. Is that something this plugin can do?

Hi there, I’m wondering if anyone might be able to guide me in the right direction with this: I’m currently in the process of converting some pages on the linked site over to elementor, but I’ve noticed that this page in particular is using both Search & Filter Pro and Custom Layouts, and was created by the designer before me. I’m fairly new to using both Elementor Pro anf S&F Pro, and I’ve tried to figure this out on my own, but I didn’t see a way to easily use both S&FP with EP to accomplish the same results that the previous designer accomplished on the page. I contacted Elementor support, but they essentially said they don’t know how to do it, and I should ask some forums, etc.

So, here I am. Any suggestions, help, links to videos or tutorials on the how to do this would be quite helpful. I can’t see why it can’t be done, but I’m a bit lost as to how to accomplish it.

ex: i have a posts with custom field event end date.

I have a code for dropdown filter event status with the options : open, closed

when click on open it show the post in which event end date is greater than today and when click closed it shows post in which event end date is less than today.

Please guide me how to add this kind of custom filters using search and filter pro.

I have a page with ACF and the plugin works pretty well in general, just the “order_by” part in the shortcode searchandfilter fields="search,bundeslandregion" submit_label="Suchen" order_by="name" search_placeholder="Suchbegriff…" headings="," is being ignored. Is this plugin still maintained? There has been a “no support” notice on for more than 9 months now. Is there any alternative that works well with ACF?

HI! I’m experiencing a compatibility issue between Search & Filter and Polylang Pro/Loco Translator.
The taxonomies have been translated.
On this page (https://www.emanuela-cardetta.com/en/experience/) I used the shortcode

but the default dropdown entries are still untranslated.

Furthermore, whenever I use the filter, the query generated is a search query. Is it possible for the generated query to call the post-type archive?

We have a search results page on one of our sites that utilizes the Search & Filter plugin and noticed an issue with one of the filtering mechanisms. Specifically, when implementing the “post_types” field, it seems to filter all result types EXCEPT any WP Files. In other words, if a user chooses to filter the results by pages, we still get WP Files that show in the results. The expected behavior would be for the results to show ONLY pages. Interestingly, if a user chooses to filter the results by WP Files, then only WP Files will show in the results. So it would seem that the filtering is working but only partially. The main issue is that the files still show in the results even when the filter option is set so that they shouldn’t.

We were hoping to get some information on whether or not this is a bug in the plugin or if we’re missing some sort of additional option needed in the shortcode to make the filtering exclude WP Files where necessary.

Any feedback is appreciated.

We have a search form that we have set up for a custom post type, “vault items”. The form has 2 dropdown fields, “vault category” and “vault format”, as well as a search field.

We are displaying the “vault categories” in a custom order using the plugin “Custom Taxonomy Order”. However we have noticed that if we have the auto-count feature enabled, the order of this dropdown resets to alphabetical order whenever the count is updated (e.g. if a “vault format” is selected).

We have also noticed that the order is alphabetical whenever we visit a single “vault item” page (where the form is also displayed).

Any suggestions on how we can fix this?

The Search Bar for Agent in the link provided shows blank spots where there used to be an agent. Those agents have been removed and replaced by another agent. However, it still shows the a blank where the former agent used to be. Using S&F Pro.

I’m thinking of buying the plugin and I would like to know is if I use a single license and install in a site if is possible uninstall and delete for install and use in a new site. That’s for I’m working in a site that will disappear hte next year.
