plugin searches and replaces character string and creates a new database, which you need to download, then import.
The database that plugin created could not be imported by plugin. Message says that the file is not a valid sql file.
Kinda dumb workflow, but not being able to import a sql file that was created by plugin is ridiculous

The “Search & Replace” plugin works very well. I tested the search and replace function in WordPress 6.1.1,PHP 7.4 and MySQL 8.0.32-0ubuntu0.22.04.2. Love the dry run and the fact that you can see what has been changed. Thank you very much!

Review was written with classic editor. Now did some editing with a conversion to blocks which looked fine in the block editor. But as soon as I save, the markup gets broken. It gets wrapped in a classic block again, despite being supposedly block-content now.

Still useful for example to manually quickly update Slider Revolution image paths after a site migration (or simpliy make these paths absolute -> relative) searching in table “wp_revslider_slides”…
Even though sometimes acts strange with escaping chars: e.g. can’t find strings like ” https://mysite.d.mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/revslider ” and you have to search for “http:\\/\\/mysite\.d\.mydomain\.com\\/wp-content\\/uploads\\/revslider” instead, some others correctly matches strings like “/wp-content/uploads/revslider” without escaping chars at all (!?)…. When forced to use escaping chars in the search string, the “Details” link won’t show the preview table correctly BTW.
Hope someone will continue it one day.

Switched my multi-site installation from sub-directory to subdomain which completely ruined all my links and images. “You know cause theme developers are not smart enough to store a single domain record entry for all links/images to reference like the one built into wordpress core.” This was the only plugin I found that properly managed to deal with escaped url json string in the postmeta table.

When I was installing it I read this: Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. I have the latest version of WordPress 5.4.2. According to the developer it was Compatible up to: 5.2.7. Nevertheless I activated it because the description of its capabilities seduced me. It worked like a breeze. I tested all functions except one “Replace a Domain / URL”. That too because it was not documented in detail. So I couldnt take a risk. But it has such remarkable features that I coul play it safe. Do mock Run. Get a preview. Take Backup before change. I have two websites both of which had domain changes. I took ginger steps, chose smaller data tables first. Made the changes. Tested the website. added bigger data sets. Made the changes. Tested it out. Then changed the entire site data, with search and replace. Also first I outputted the changed SQL file. And uploaded it. Next time I changed directly. Following this procedure, first site took me two days. In the second site I finished the whole job in one hour. And this was the free version. Need I say more.
