The instructions are quite hard to follow even though I can see a lot of effort has been put into this with multiple screenshots. There should be some warning before creating thousands of pages.

I was trying different plugins to read and display GEDCOM data. I had assembled a file and tried to upload it, resulting in an error. Ed gave me an early release of a new version that fixed the problem immediately.

Only, it lacks the possibility of translating the Months (JAN, FEB, etc.) into other languages. Maybe something like that:

Very good plugin to publish GEDCOM files from your local Family Tree program. Now with dutch translation!
Zeer goede plugin om je GEDCOM-bestanden bijv. uit Legacy of welk ander genealogisch programma dan ook, te publiceren op je WordPress site. Installatie en inrichting soms niet altijd even overzichtelijk. Maar vergeet niet om op de site informatie hier over op te zoeken. Ik heb een Nederlandse vertaling gemaakt, die ik dit najaar ga vervolmaken. Als deze nog niet meegeleverd wordt, kun je deze bij mij bestellen.

My family tree has over 3,500 individuals, and RootsPersona handles it all flawlessly. The only really helpful additional feature that I can think of would be a “how is person A related to person B” shortcode.

I keep an extensive and extremely detailed Family Tree on Ancestry.com, but it is inconvenient for family members to look at it. I wanted a web site that would be easier for them to be able to look at the information and, hopefully, be able to give me feedback so I could update the tree. I created a web site, but I needed a way to easily display my information. RootsPersona to the rescue! I download a GEDCOM from either Ancestry.com of Family Tree Maker, and import it into RootsPersona, and I have a beautiful Tree on my website that my family can easily navigate through and see information. If you would like to see it in action, please visit my site at familytree.scocchio.com. The author is extremely helpful, and works on fixing any bugs that may come up. This is one of the few free plugins that I have donated to.

This really is a great plugin. I have used it for others on their genealogical sites. After upgrading to 4.0.1, I feared that RootsPersona might not work at all. Apart from a little glitchy behavior on the captions for person galleries (the images at the bottom of a person page), I have yet to find any flaws.
It still imports geds and generates beautiful pages by the 100s in seconds. Thank you, ed4becky!

I love this plugin. The only things i don’t like is the inability to more completely control the formatting of the family charts and the lack of gedcom export features.
But I highly recommend this plugin to anyone looking to build a genealogy website.

Works fine but does not recognize accented characters or special characters ==> unusable in French!
My GEDCOM tree is encoded in ANSI, I can not change that.
The plugin should provide an option to select the import of all special characters when it is encoded in ANSI instead of UTF8.

I was a little confused by the description but installed this i WP3.6 and couldn’t be happier. The output plays well with several themes that I’ve tried, and provides a wonderful way of displaying my gedcom data and soliciting involvement of possible site visitors with comment forms under each and every of many, many pages. One can put individuals in a menu, as suggested in the description, or simply the database for searchers on names within the database. Great job.

I’ve tried many different plugins for both WP and Joomla. In the end this is the clear winner. We have a very large GEDCOM file created with Family Tree Maker and it imported, created the pages and had us off and running in a short time. We actually wanted it customized and contacted Ed the creator of RootsPersona and made a small contribution to sponsor the upgrade. He nailed it and now we have the perfect solution for our family tree project. Top notch 5* all around! Thanks again Ed Thompson for your support.

Actually integrates my tree into my WordPress site. It creates Person pages as actual WordPress pages that include a Family Sheet, a Descendant Chart, a list of life events & a list of Sources for each individual. This makes it easy to use WordPress tools like the comment system & Search and to add selected Person pages into Menus. The plugin automatically creates Person & Source index pages with pagination.
