Unfortunately this is incompatible with Ninja Forms’ recaptcha; it breaks the Ajax call.
I would personally love to see WordPress adopt a root-relative philosophy because I think absolute URLs are stupid and having to search-and-replace URLs when switching domains should not be needed. But at least there are options out there that make that relatively easy to do.

This is just not a good idea for the long term health of a site’s database. There’s a number of great database migration tools –?including hosting tools – that should be used when transitioning a site from a staging address to a live address that don’t break a whole bunch of other plugin functionality by messing with how get_permalink() works.

This plugin works great for content and makes migrating / pushing/pulling databases a breeze.
Unfortunately, it removes the domain from wp_enqueue_script, so you can’t load external libraries.

Amazon has been installing this on its cloud sites by default. It will break your Yoast SEO plugin sitemaps though. If you are getting 404’s on your page and post sitemaps and have this plugin try deactivating it.

On WordPress v4.1 plugin doesn′t work as expected.
Most of internal urls remains untouched (absolute), few of external urls (eg.: pointing to external libraries, like jquery etc.) are shortened – converted to relatives ??

Excellent plugin (especially for https sites), thanks a bunch – however…
There is one, certain issue: it makes the SEO canonical links in the head also relative. At least Google’s recommendation is to keep these absolute URL’s (for distingction between www and non www versions, http and https protocols etc.).

I’m using this plugin in one site in a WordPress 4.0 Multisite installation. This site is using HTTP & HTTPS and I had the problem, that each time someone added a media link, the SSL trust broke.
Now with the root relative/absolute paths that won’t save the host everything works like a charm.

Took me awhile to figure out my scripts and styles from CDNs weren’t working.
In addition to making page and image URLs local, the plugin “helpfully” made my googleapi references local as well.
So if all your assets are really local, this plugin works great.
If any of your assets are NOT local, you may have issues.

The plugin is supposed to make local URLs relative, but by mistake it also makes external URLs relative, thus it breaks the website.
This is how it doesn’t work:
https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js becomes /ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js, which is basically https://yourwebsite.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js

@matt Van Andel and others said the right, it can break Ajax calls. The plugin changes some calls to 404 calls. You’ll find them on webpagetest dot org like website for frontend issues. Its impossible to find the culprit unless known. Possibly the URI encoding goes wrong towards Twitter, Facebook etc. to load the buttons.
The concept is definitely great and does the work. Due to the bugs the rating is 3/5. We will hope some fix to give 5/5 for sure.

Great concept, but not there yet. This completely hosed our site. It caused the Avada template and Revolution jquery sliders to become utterly unusable in the admin – so apparently it’s stepping on urls it shouldn’t

I updated this plugin and it broke all the AJAX and JS elements on my site.
Maybe there is a way to recover/fix this issue but I am very wary to use it again due to this issue.

For the most part, this plugin is indispensable. WordPress’s insistance on using absolute URLs for everything is my one least-favorite “feature” (it makes it very difficult to develop, stage, and deploy across multiple domains).
I’ve noticed one problem with WordPress 3.5’s new media manager, however – when adding items from the media library to a post, and using the “custom url” feature, the custom URL will be completely stripped and must be entered again manually in HTML/TEXT view.
This is a problem because it can “break” image links for non-technical admin users. Adding an image link that points to another domain will be broken every time, as the href value is empty.
Fix that, and this goes back to being 5 stars! ??

Thanks a lot for the developer of this plugin, I have tried a different one before and it was not that good, this one is excellent.
There is only one minor problem which is that it does not convert the URLs in the redirection plugin.
