Is it true that this plugin isn’t being updated or supported anymore? It’s crucial to our team and how we function. Please say it isn’t so! I have a couple problems that I would love some help with:
1. The revisionize option is no longer available on some of our posts and I can’t figure out why. Is there a limit as to how many times a post can be revisionized? Can I change that limit? Why does it stop working?
2. When some revisionized posts publish, they completely vanish. I find them in the drafts, thankfully, but the url gets messed up and it’s not working well. This is happening randomly.
3. Is there an alternative to this plugin is it really isn’t going to be updated or supported anymore? I need something that will duplicate a post and publish it on top of the current copy while keeping the same url.
]]>When creating a revision (which is a draft) and doing some changes in it and then clicking on preview – the preview doesn’t show any changes (even though draft was saved). I figured it’s because it was using original post’s permalink and basically showing it instead of revision. I’ve come up with a fix which I’ll post below
]]>Hi. I’m having a problem with the usage of the plugin in combination with Polylang, the famous translation plugin. Every time I work on a translated article and republish it with Revisionize, the post looses its hreflang, an extremely important tag to let search engines know the page has an alternative version in another language. Is there a way to fix the issue?
]]>When revisionizing a post that has metadata containing escaped quotes, \”, revisionize strips the escapes and replaces it with just unescaped quotes, “.
This is causing problems because it is changing valid json into garbage and causes errors when creating the revisionized post.
]]>Hey there,
I got one problem with your Revision plugin. First of all thanks for developing the plugin, this really helps in editing posts and was missing in WordPress before. My problem is that I created custom taxonomy called “Zuordnung” and when I edit a post attached to some entry of this category and use the revisionize function it works well until the point when I click on publishing. After publishing and therefore overwriting the current post the assignment to the category is gone. This is worse in that case as the assignment of category is important to let the post be visible for the editors, as they can only see the posts from specific categories.
Do you have any idea how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Ronja
Getting this error, although strange, as I just installed WordPress recently, and haven’t even posted anything on it yet. I downloaded the plugin and this popped up in query monitor. I restarted and haven’t been running anything in particular, so not sure why it would be making lots of requests. Been several hours now, so I’m guessing it will stay if I do not act on it, rather than just a temporary set up thing. Any ideas what this is about and how to fix it (my side or your side)?
It does timeout in the end (or I think that is what it is saying), so I’m guessing it isn’t using any more resources, but it still is a bit bothersome to have it there, and even if it isn’t doing anything, I would like to see if it can be fixed, so that I can avoid keeping looking to wonder if that’s just this again or if it might be an error with something else.
Thanks
]]>Hello, your plugin says that it hasn’t been tested for the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. Is it?
It might be a good idea to bump up the tested to number ??
]]>I love this plugin and it’s very useful to our team, however I’m wondering if there’s an indication as to whether a post is being revisionized. as opposed to edited or started from new. Am I not looking in the right place? I’m not able to tell if writers are revisionizing a post to overwrite it. Ideally, there would be a banner up to to say what post is being revisionized.
For example, this week a writer revisionized an article instead of creating a new one. Yes, rookie mistake, but no one knew that she did that until it was published and the old post was overwritten. Luckily we have the setting to save posts as drafts (thank you for that!), but instead of this url being about beaches and waterparks: https://mykidlist.com/water-parks-and-beaches/, it was about a new playground and got sent out to subscribers.
Please let me know if there is a way to tell if a draft is from a revisionized post or if it’s possible to add that feature.
Thanks!
Annie
Hello,
I used the “Revisionize” plugin to update a post. After pushing the updated version live, my “Updated date” dynamic metadata for that one post has disappeared. (I have that dynamic metadata embedded into the post header, underneath the author name.)
Any way I can reset this so it matches the rest of my posts & shows the last updated date? (I’ve cleared site cache and local cache).
Thank you!
]]>Hello,
I’m having issues saving a draft in the latest chrome version. I click the button, but occasionally nothing happens. The preview button works, but not always the save draft one.
]]>Hey! When I use revisionize to update an old post, after I hit publish, it will update but will also put a version of it in my drafts. Is it safe to delete this draft, and why does it do that?
]]>I use the WPBakery builder and twice in the past 4 days scheduling a published page resulted in ALL the HTML elements being stripped out which removed ALL of my buttons and I had to put them back in manually.
This plugin loses a lot of effectiveness for me if I can’t schedule changes to go live.

]]>Hi @jamiechong,
I just sent a pull request on your GitHub repository: https://github.com/jamiechong/revisionize/pull/48.
Indeed, WordPress 5.7 will introduce a get_parent_post() function in WP Core.
It appears that this plugin is the only one in the WordPress plugin repository to use in.
This pull request adds a function_exists check to avoid fatal errors.
Thank you,
Jb
Hi there,
When I press publish, it states it is published, but it doesn’t override the original post.
Original post /my-eye-exam/
It creates a new post at /my-eye-exam/my-eye-exam/
I have searched the forums, and even though there is some similar topics, nothing has solutions for this.
Thanks!
]]>I create a revisionize draft for old blog posts and I like to republish them so they essentially appear as a new post. When I change the date to publish the draft, it will publish on that date, but it will backdate to the original date. is there a way to change this?
]]>I’m using the Contributors Can add-on that allows my Authors to revisionize select posts and submit them for pending review. These then show up in the Dashboard Widget for me to take care of the next time I log in – perfect so far!
However, is there any way I can add Editors to the “pending review” feature without limiting their revisionize access? I want my Editors to be able to Revisionize any posts, but when they submit them for “publish,” I’d like to be notified in the Dashboard Widget.
I’m aware I can add Editors to the Limit Contributors to Posts section of Contributors Can, but I don’t want to limit my Editors in that manner. They currently edit 200+ posts over the course of a year and listing out all of the exact post IDs in this line isn’t quite feasible. Plus I don’t want to cut off editorial access to all posts, I simply want to be alerted whenever they want to push a revision.
]]>The copy_post_taxonomies
function breaks Polylang support, which has relationships to the translated post object. When using Revisionize the term connection breaks on copy to and from.
Maybe adding a filter on the taxonomies call before the foreach loop so a developer can filter certain taxonomies out?
$taxonomies = get_object_taxonomies($post->post_type);

Cant appear to get the plugin to work using the Divi theme.
I’ve tried two seperate divi sites and both having the same issue.
I can set a page as draft ok. But when I come to publish we get the following message:
An error has occurred while saving your page. Various problems can cause a save to fail, such as a lack of server resources, firewall blockages, plugin conflicts or server misconfiguration. You can try saving again by clicking Try Again, or you can download a backup of your unsaved page by clicking Download Backup. Backups can be restored using the portability system while next editing your page.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
]]>Hi,
We use Revisionize + Advanced Custom Fields + Permalink Manager Pro and have some troubles using revisionize :
– When revisonizing a post to override it, url of the page is not accessible then, unless we are logged in back-office
– When revisonizing a post and making some changes on the revisonized version, the change display even if we do not publish the revisionzed version
Is there an extension to purchase to avoid it ?
Thanks

]]>Hi
Thanks for an excellent plugin, that has made our workflow MUCH better.
I have duplicated some draft revisions, using Post Duplicator, in the process of using the new layout and design on that page, for multiple other pages and now encounter this problem;
When I publish the duplicated revision(s), it/they overwrites the original post, which is not the one that needs to be overwritten.
Once/If that initial revision is published, how do I publish the other duplicated draft revisions, all based upon the same original post/page, without losing the original post/page each time?
i.e.: Is there a way to prevent a specific revision from overwriting the page that it was based upon?
