I used this plugin to display some posts on the Home page of my website and it was all looking great, apart from me being picky and wanting to display just 1 column on a mobile device with maximum screen 481px and then 2 columns for 482px-768px, as this wasn’t currently an option. So I contacted their support and within 1 day they emailed me back saying they’d do it for me and so within 2 days they had sorted it out for me and it’s exactly how I wanted it!

I’ve paid for plugins and the support hasn’t been as good or as quick as this! You can’t go wrong with this plugin for FREE!

This plugin is a huge disappointment, but I love its potential. Three stars for an agnostic experience. Given the ratings from others and the fact that this plugin has been around for years, I wonder if what I’m seeing is a recent development.

(If I’m missing something obvious, I will happily update this review.)

Issues I have (that I’m assuming are features, not bugs)

• The description says “50+ templates” but there are no templates that I can see. No button to download them.
• Their demo site for the free version also claims “50+ Carousel Styles,” but in practice, what those styles are is a mystery. There are text-based settings, but no clear sense of how they work together.
• There’s no preview. All the settings you have to make blindly.
• You have to know which WP code to enter in each field. Not even a dropdown. Instead, you get help text like “Provide post meta key to display as heading. Eg: post_title, post_date, content, post_author, excerpt, none”
• You can control how many posts to show in the first group and how many to slide at a time, but you can’t limit how many posts to display. For example, you can’t show just the 3 most recent. As another reviewer noted, you also can’t change the ordering. It’s all reverse chron.

Now, for a free plugin, how can I complain? I’m posting this for site owners partially, but also for feedback to the developers.

If the plugin descriptions made clear that this provides an interface for code construction with no preview, I’d be fine with that. I’m sure plenty of webdevs find this very handy. However, as someone who develops but wants to spend less time coding because I’m focusing on other things, I would have not downloaded this plugin.

I’d give it 3.5 if I could, but rounding up because it is free after all…

The good:
? It works (not to be taken for granted, some don’t)
? Good post selection controls
? I managed to make it match the look of my theme nicely with custom CSS

The bad:
? Controls to hide meta did not work on my site, had to hide with CSS display:none
? You can’t change the sort order of posts. They display in order of post date. This is a shortcoming in my particular case because I use the carousel to list upcoming events and I’d prefer to sort by event date. Ideally could do this by custom field data, but I can’t even drag and drop to sort.
? You can’t specify to display all posts in a custom post type by category. The carousel displays this message: “Carousel contents not found!” I am guessing that the plugin only looks in standard wp post types for the specified category.
? You can display user specified posts in a custom post type, but then you have to manually curate the list.

I did relate the issues I found with the author but they were not too interested. I can’t complain, but can’t give 5 stars either.

It makes my dashboard loads slow, breaks my dashboard’s page resources simultaneous load. And cannot make it shows recent posts. You must choose which posts to show. After removing this plugin, my dashboard loading problem won’t be fixed.

This plugin gives all the features that it claims to have for the free version. My only grouse is that its settings are a bit fiddly and more explanation notes may help. There again, I got it working fine after a few trials and errors, hence the 4 stars.

I was gonna give this plugin 4 STARS because it doesn’t support RTL languages yet. However someone on the support page gave a solution and save my arse. 5 stars for now because it’s a good plugin. I hope they could add this RTL feature in the feature release.

Hi,
I just downloaded the plugin and it seems to work pretty good, easy to setup and enough settings

Only when I open up a page where I have the carousel It loads all selected post under each other, this results in a huge scroll page with all my posts.

This only happens for a few seconds once the full site is loaded it display’s normally. But when its loading it just looks awful. It could be that I have not that stable of a internet connection. but hope you can help me.

This plugin works great. I needed a carousel that supports custom post types compatible with The Events Calendar plugin. I searched for a long time and found this one. A plugin that will do what this does is hard to find. I had a little trouble figuring some things out and Rameez quickly answered all my questions.
