Whilst the normal WordPress Importer failed to import an XML file, and other two importer plugis also failed, ReadyMade WordPress Importer did it great. Thanks!

I don’t normally write reviews, in fact this is my first one after two years, but when this plugin matches the importance of the task at hand, and does what it says then I’m happy.

Detects user from imported site, this feature I found great.

Can export all content from source site.

This worked really, really seamlessly for migrating my client’s wordpress.com site to her new self-hosted site. The second time I tried to use it { migrating www.remarpro.com content > another www.remarpro.com site }, I got image errors and permalink problems. However it was super for setting her up initially! Perhaps it works better importing from wordpress.com than from other www.remarpro.com sites? I had upgraded to 3.5.1 in case that helps.

btw, The developer link in the plugin list returns WordPress standard importer plugin. I had to save the correct url in my notes. Just a nudge . . .

This is a great plugin for handling migration from TypePad to WordPress. The only thing it doesn’t do is adapt categories and tags. A must have for developers migrating sites from TypePad to WordPress.
