I cannot see how to show a specific number of random posts.
]]>how to exclude specific tag & category?
]]>I goofed and made a website on WordPress.com instead of the self host. I’ve got the premium version and they won’t let me add the plug-in unless I upgrade to a more expensive plan.
Is there any way I can add the code to get this plugin? All I want it to do is be able to add an image with a link to other websites, and be able to keep adding new images, that refreshes whenever someone visits or reloads the page.
]]>H! Thanks for a great plugin.
Is it possible to show the posts published date? Like [random_post_on_refresh show=”title, content, date”]?
]]>The plugin does exactly what it says it does. I’ve just noticed that the posts generated are from the most recent posts published. I’ve got about 8 years of content that I’d like to randomly resurface. So I’m wondering if the plugin has a setting or short code notation that can make the post show older posts?
]]>As an extension to the Link Suppression idea, it would be nice to be able to just change the link to something else.
In particular, it would be really great to have the link simply refresh the page, so you can keep clicking over and over to get new random content. This would add a nice intuitive element!
This would work very well with your ideas on GitHub about having different elements linkable. Could have “content = refresh”. Or “title = single post” and “image = refresh”. Etc. Ooooooooo!
Great plug-in btw!!
]]>Hi there
Your plugin works really well ??
I’m trying to use it in conjunction with a plugin called “Like Button Rating ? LikeBtn”.
The idea is to add a like button to each post.
The button shows up on posts but it’s not there when I use your plugin to create a random post.
Any ideas how I can get the like button to show?
Thanks in advance ??
Hi
Thanks for your work !
Is it possible to control the lenght of the excerpt ?
Thank youu
]]>i use this code source : [random_post_on_refresh category=”recuperation” show=”title”]
But no matching posts in category recuperation, how to do please ?
]]>Hi Micah, this plugin looks almost perfect for this project I’m working on, but I have a few quick questions for when you have the time!
Firstly, I saw a ticket from about 2 years ago that asked if you were planning on adding support for custom fields. Did that happen? At the moment I’m not really using the default fields at all (besides the title).
Also: is there a block of code I can use to put this directly into my theme instead of using a shortcode? I’m coding a microsite that generates random posts right on the homepage so I’ve just been putting content directly into my theme’s index.php.
Thanks man!
]]>Hi Micah, thank you for this great plugin.
My posts are recipes. Is there any way to show the entire post, rather than just the title and excerpt?
Kind regards,
Jodi
]]>Hi Micah,
This is a great plugin–thank you!
When I implement this with the excerpt text included, I see all of the excerpt text is included as part of the hyperlink to the post. Is there a way to disable that so it’s only the image and title that are hyperlinked? Also, is there a way to set the excerpt length? If this can be set in the shortcode, that would be great…
Bonus question: Is it possible to set CSS attributes separately for the title and excerpt text?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.
Sarah
]]>I’ve been trying to display only posts from a certain category but looking at the shortcodes I cannot figure out how to. Any help? Thanks!
]]>First off, I love this plugin! It works perfectly on my Macbook Pro, Chrome. However, it does not randomize at all on my iPhone 10 (Safari), nor on my new iMac (tested on Chrome and Safari). I have your shortcode embedded in a test page at the moment: https://wisconsinwatercolorsociety.com/wmc/random/
]]>I’m looking to cloak the source post for the randomly displayed post. Is there any way to suppress the link to the single post page? That would be awesome.
TIA!
]]>Hello, is it possible to show more than 1 post in the random post feed? Perhaps 4 or 6 refreshed images? Thank you!
]]>Thanks for a GREAT plugin,
How could it also auto refresh the the page ever hour based on the server clock?
Using the randomizing function, how can title of next post + next hour of refreshing be displayed before the actual refresh occurs. (like in: Coming up)
I can provide more information if interested //THANKS
]]>Hi Micah, I’ve been trying to get the excerpt to stop displaying if the “excerpt” input field for a post is left blank. I’ve been trying everything I could thing of, thinking it was the theme. However, I think I’ve narrowed it down to this plugin.
I think it’s on line 289 of RandomPostOnRefresh.php. Is it possible to edit that line so that if there is no excerpt entred, none is shown? (instead of generating one automatically)
]]>Hi, have inserted the shortcode for this plugin in Elementor and while in edit mode the plugin works perfectly. But when I go to view the page to test the plugin, the post never changes. No matter how many times I refresh. I must be missing something just not sure what.
Here is the shortcode: [random_post_on_refresh taxonomy=”category” terms=”6″ show=”image”]
Any help would be appreciated?
]]>Hi again, I’m curious how this plugin determines “random”. As I create new posts, I notice they are displayed much more frequently than older posts.
]]>Hi again,
One other question, for “show”, I see the options are: title, image, excerpt, content.
I need to be able to display some custom fields I’ve added to the post (i.e. quote, attribution).
Possible?
]]>Hi,
I installed the plugin and added the [random_post_on_refresh] to the home page.
I then published 2 posts. On the home page I see:
Sorry, no matching posts were found. Your query may be too restrictive. Please check your shortcode implementation.
