Even if you have the alternative login page URL unticked (disabled) in the settings, when you reset your password, the new alternative login page is still redirected to after saving your password.

Our hosting company, WP Engine, is removing support for htaccess file. Will the wprotect wp admin stop working once the htaccess file is gone?

After installing the plug-in the new secure URL redirects to my homepage and I have no access to my backend anymore. The default WordPress to the backend doesn’t work either.

Im working to migrate a site and have attempted the same settings / configuration of the Protect WP-Admin > New Admin Slug. Our N.A.S. is set to “m-wp-admin” and despite the warning beneath (Don’t use any special character.)…somehow my predecessor configured ours with dashes. Does anyone know a way around the special character limitation?

for safety reasons I disable the allow_url_fopen from PHP.
So, I get the following warning in error_log in all websites:

“PHP Warning: getimagesize(): https:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0 in ../wp-content/plugins/protect-wp-admin/pwa-class.php on line 274
PHP Warning: getimagesize(): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in ../wp-content/plugins/protect-wp-admin/pwa-class.php on line 274”

Can you disable the use of allow_url_fopen from this plugin?

As I understand it, PHP 7.4 no longer supports/uses the htaccess file. Will this plugin continue to work? I know the wp-admin redirect is in the htaccess file so i’m concerned I will lose admin access to my sites if this plugin is activated when I upgrade to 7.4. Any insights?

Currently link “Protect WP Admin” and dropdown “Settings” is shown to all users in top admin bar, regardless of their capability.

If users click the link, an error is shown, as the plugin admin page itself is only available with capability manage_options.

Suggested change: Only add these links to top admin bar if user is allowed to access plugin admin page.

If custom “Login Page Logo” is empty in settings, a warning is triggered at login:

PHP Warning:  getimagesize(): Filename cannot be empty ..

Reason is this code in pwa-class.php lines 325/327:

	   $imagelogo = $getPwaOptions['pwa_logo_path'];
		ob_start();
		$data = getimagesize($imagelogo);

Some check e.g. !empty( $imagelogo ) or similar should be added before using getimagesize().

I have this plugin enabled, but I still have hackers trying to login. How is this possible?
They are not able to know the new login url!

I added a slug, clicked Enable, but when I try to click on the new link I get – Page not found.

Suddenly i can’t logon anymore, untile i deactivate via FTP the plugin.
the error I get is: “An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again.”

I also have wordfence installed, but this can’t even reveal the failed login, as the username and password are not really send to the website.
I tried to deactivate wordfence too, but the only thing that works is to deactivate protect wp-admin plugin.
I also tried to delete it and reinstall again.
I also tried to change the url for the new admin, but nothing of these things works.
Any help?

I have installed “Protect Your Admin” wordpress plugin to my live site. When I enable this plugin and try to access login page it redirects to 404 Not Found Page. For now I have disabled this plugin.

Now I’d like to update my WP to 5.3
Do you think that your plugin Protect WP-Admin will still work then, or may could break?

I installed this plugin and it broke my access to the admin. I don’t quite remember which settings I activated but the admin URL redirects to homepage of the site. All I am looking to do is to reset the plugin so that I can start over. Please let me know how I can do it. I’ve been through the FAQ and other support threads but couldn’t find anything on it.

just added this code inside condition.
defined( ‘DOING_AJAX’ )

where i add code ?! “defined( ‘DOING_AJAX’ )

Doesn’t work with add on sites or if WP address and site address is different.

My website is not in the root directory.

MY WordPress Address (URL) is different than my Site Address (URL).

In this combination the plugin does not work – you cannot get to your new or your old admin address-page after enabling it.

hi guys, i love this plugin and it works fine, i just wanted to let you know that i have two website in a network multisite configuration, and the plugin doesn’t work with that.
Did someone try this configuration before?

Please put a text field for custom css on your “login page style” tab in settings. This would be a great, simple and useful feature for your plugin.

Also would be a good idea to just use the normal pop-up for selecting images for the logo. Yours does not work. Does not let you change the image after first selection. I have to copy the url and paste it in the field then save.

Otherwise, great plugin!

The plugin creates the SLUG but does not keep someone from tying in <website url>/wp-admin and still getting there.

First of all congrats for the great plugin.

Second, just now I have updated (via WP CP / Plugins) the plugin to 3.0 and redirect from /wp-admin to homepage stops working properly.

I login to my WP admin at /customslug/ fine. then goto the front page of my site. then go back to my WP admin by going to https://www.site.com/customslug/ and I get this (on plain white screen):

“Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/…/wp-login.php:75) in /home/../wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1216

Any way to fix this? going to https://www.site.com/wp-admin still is fine, but clients are lost, they will never know to got wp-admin instead. Needs to be fixed.

I installed and activated this plugin but it wont work, it show me the new admin link but when you tryed to acces it , it wont work, just get cant find page.
