@douglaskarr, I believe I reached out previously about the images no longer showing as thumbnails in the feed — you pointed me to Weserv as the free image resource the plugin is using, and the fact that (as a free resource) the thumbnail images were too large (the client was uploading PNG files instead of JPEGs!!). I have teamed up with the client to replace all of those massive PNGs that were gumming up the free image service’s quotas, but cannot seem to “flush” that cached image contents — any idea how I could do that? Possibly delete & reinstall the plugin to have it regenerate those thumbs? Any advice you can relay is greatly appreciated.

Had to switch back to PHP 7.3 to avoid this error display:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in yoursitepath/wp-content/plugins/podcast-feed-player-widget/podcast-feed-player-widget.php on line 252
Code needs to be updated to accommodate newer versions of PHP.
In my posts I added this widget, in order to list and to play my episodes.
This my feed: https://anchor.fm/s/213b57b0/podcast/rss
It is updated, but the widget reports only the first episode.
Why?
Hi again,
I’m having good luck with this plugin.
Quick question: Each podcast comes with some text. How can I limit the characters and use a “read-more” link?
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Hello,
I used the Shortcode on a page in my site, and the podcasts displayed right away (yay!).
Unfortunately, I’m seeing the following error displayed on my podcast page:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/customer/www/my-site-name.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/podcast-feed-player-widget/podcast-feed-player-widget.php on line 252
This appears at the top below the main heading, and the podcasts appear underneath. The page is in Draft mode, so it’s not available to view.
Question: What does this warning message mean, how do I resolve this (fix the problem and prevent the warning from appearing on the page)?
Also — I have another heading and some
text above the shortcode, but it is appearing below the podcasts at the bottom of the page.
Question: What would cause the podcasts to come to the top, above other page content?
Your help is appreciated.
p.s. Is there a chance that this plugin could be made compatible with the latest WordPress?
I just set up your plugin and it works fine in Firefox and Edge, but not in Chrome. My first thought is maybe because the feed isn’t https? would that break the player?
cool plugin thanx
using
[podcastfeed feedurl=”https://www.rnz.co.nz/podcasts/businessnews.rss” quantity=”2″ imgsize=”1″ imgclass=”1″ itunes=”” google=”” soundcloud=”” icons=”0″]Here are our latest podcasts. The image is resized and cached via free service Weserv?for faster serving.[/podcastfeed]
result is
https://nzpodcasters.bix.nz/directory/listing/business-news
I get a broken image at the begining of the feed on each podcast
how to get rid of or show
Thanx
Would there be a fairly straightforward way to have the player above the text/information? something that a novice could effect?

Episode 18 is not pulling from the RSS feed. I can’t figure out why?
Hi,
I love the plugin, but when I install this show up:
Notice: Undefined property: SimplePie::$channel in /home4/univ0827/matheustomoto.com.br/wp-content/plugins/podcast-feed-player-widget/podcast-feed-player-widget.php on line 64
This is what we have and the line 64:
if ( ! is_wp_error( $feed ) ) :
$maxitems = $feed->get_item_quantity( $quantity );
$feed_items = $feed->get_items( 0, $maxitems );
$channel = $feed->channel;
endif;
Hello Douglas! (hope you read this)
You say in the FAQ “Can I customize the styling? Yes, classes are designated for each element.” Could I have some more explanation/instructions about doing this? (I have no idea about CSS or programming, if this is the case…)
Thanks a lot,
Thomas
The plugin has references to some unknown third party image caching service, “images.weserv.nl” — in two places in its code, in the file named “podcast-feed-player-widget.php” — on line 93, and again on line 303.
Here’s an example of code lines referencing the third party service:
$image_src = "//images.weserv.nl/?url=".$image_src."&w=".$size;
Thus, the plugin seems to presume both that
(1) some local image is connected with each podcast entry (which is not always the case)
and
(2) that the services of the third party service are desired and obtained (not the case for us).
We are seeing “broken link” image display while trying to use the plugin to display a podcast feed. We’re trying to use the plugin to display the very same podcast in two different themes on two sites, and, interestingly, one of the two reveals the above mentioned issue, while another does not.
Can we get a fix, or otherwise get a version of the plugin that does not presume a local image is associated with each podcast entry, and that does not presume use of a third party image caching service?
Thanks for any help or advice.
Hi! ??
I’ve noticed that at the top of a feed i’ll get the warning
“Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/autosce3/public_html/scrummagazine.com/wp-content/plugins/podcast-feed-player-widget/podcast-feed-player-widget.php on line 251”
The actual feed seems to work ok, but this warning will appear at the top of it. Any ideas how I can remedy this?
Kind Regards
N
I’m trying to find a way to get this plugin play the most episode of a podcast from an RSS feed via the shortcode, but to only show the audio player (without the podcast artwork or description).
Is is documented anywhere? Can you assist please? I just can’t work it out.
Hi, I have installed the plug-in and love that there is both widget and page shortcode. I’d love to use it however when I enter my podcast feed url it says it’s not valid. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it as we are going out to itunes, Gplay, stitcher, and others with the feed.
Here is the error:
There was a problem reaching your podcast feed. (Feed: https://www.taconightaudio.com/adulting-misadventures?format=rss)
any help would be appreciated. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks!

Hi – I added your widget to my site, but the episode image is not populating correctly for my podcast. (You can see if you look at the right sidebar.) I put in a different podcast feed to see if it might be an issue with my feed, but the widget was also unable to pick up the image on this other feed as well.
(For reference, the feeds are:https://reports.blubrry.net/feed/podcast/ and the alternate feed I used washttps://benkatt.podbean.com/feed/)
I fiddled with the settings, but didn’t find anything that worked. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
Hi,
I attempted to download and activate your plugin, but had WordPress return to me:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/content/32/13101432/html/wp-content/plugins/podcast-feed-player-widget/podcast-feed-player-widget.php on line 206
I tried deleting and reinstalling, but no luck. Version 4.9.4 of WordPress.
Any suggestions about what might be going wrong? Thanks!
While this widget has been working fine for me, it appears that Podbean is now putting the audio URL in an ‘enclosure URL’ tag. This has broken the plugin and the audio player no longer displays on the screen.
the audio file is in a tag as below:

Is it possible for this plugin to scan for this part of an RSS feed and display the audio?
