so sad to find you just now… picasa will be close soon. I still use the picasa desktop software and it would be perfect to use your plugin for me. I tried it but nothing appear in my media files. The buttons seems to work but i can’t find my picture.
]]>Please forgive me if this is obvious, but would it be possible to “Install Image Upload Button in Picasa Desktop” for a blog hosted on wordpress.com? Obviously, I cannot install plugins on that, so I cannot use this WordPress plugin, but perhaps I can still add the button to my Desktop Picasa?
Using Picasa 3
Thanks
]]>I receive the following fatal error when attempting to activate the plugin.
“Cannot redeclare class zipfile in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas10_data01/49/2770549/html/wp-content/plugins/picasa-album-uploader/lib/zip.lib.php on line 30”
Is there a fix?
]]>Hi there,
This is a common refrain but I’m having trouble with the uploader. Every time I upload a photo it requires a login. After logging in I get a blank screen that says “sorry, no images received from Picasa” I close this window and immediately retry and it appears to work the second time around but no files make it to WordPress. Then after this point if I try another upload it just takes me back to the login screen after which I’m in a vicious cycle of login, fail, retry, silent failure….repeat. I turned on logging in the settings and you can see what’s happening below. For some reason the uploader is requiring authentication on every attempt and checking the remember me button does nothing to prevent this.

“Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because the protocol (picasa) isn’t associated with any program.”
We are providing users with a free wordpress preconfigured templated site. We just launched a beta and images are already an issue. The ideal would be to have users utilize their images no matter where they are saved, but we are providing them a multi-media slider that requires getting the images into Gallery.
Would your plugin work in multisite preferably at a network activation but secondarily as a site by site activation for those that want to use their Picasa to upload images?

This is a great idea for a plugin. However, for some reason I can’t get Picasa to actually send the photos. Everything connects and Picasa generates it’s little status window that shows the selected images, I see the thumbnail in the browser, but when you’d expect it to be done, I get the following error in the browser:
Error: No files provided for upload
I’ve tried this with one photo and with several and got similar results. Permalinks are on.
I’m running WordPress 3.03 and Picasa 3.8.7.361 (for Mac). My browser is Google Chrome (9.0.597.19 beta). And here is the log output in case there’s a hint in there:

Thanks in advance for any help and thanks for a great free plugin. I only hope I can make it work!
Rob
P.S. You might get a few more people finding your plugin if you change the official name in the plugin repository from Picsa Album Uploader to Picasa Album Uploader.
]]>Sorry to sound like a broken record, since this seems to be a common issue brought up in recent months…
I’m trying to install the button in Picasa (v.3.6.0). Your plugin installed fine in WordPress. When I click the “Install Image Upload Button in Picasa Desktop” link in Settings/Media, I’m asked by Windows to confirm the application to use for opening the link. I confirm Picasa, then I’m asked to “Launch Picasa and import buttons?” When I click Yes, it doesn’t work. If Picasa is already open, simply nothing happens. If Picasa was closed at the time, it’s loaded but no new button shows up. There’s nothing new in Tools/Configure Buttons menu either.
Configuration:
WP 3.0.1
Picasa 3.6.0
Windows 7 32-bit
Permalinks – numeric (https://www.sitename.com/archives/123)

]]>Installation was painless in wordpress 3.0 and the button appeared correctly in picasa 3.6.6 on OS X Snow Leopard just fine.
First use presented me with the login page but when I entered my credentials nothing happened. Using the “go back to … ” link in the top left took me to the homepage and I was logged in though.
Uploading worked fine, with one minor problem. If there is an apostrophe ‘ in the description, the description text gets cut at that point so if my description text read “apostrophes in descriptions aren’t parsed” the description in the photo would be “t parsed”
I haven’t had a chance to test this with other characters, like ” ` etc.
