Hi Stefano it seems ‘special characters must now be escaped’ in text widgets, does that mean the end of your plugin?
Please advise as I have PHP in all my widgets and sites!
Kind regards,
Nick
]]>Hi,
I installed PHP Text Widget on many sites and although it hasn’t been updated for 2 years it always kept doing it’s magic.
Now we have the disaster with WordPress altering the text widget to give it a semi wysiwyg gui, adding autop and destroying my text widgets code as soon as I open one. It looks like WordPress will provide a fix in 4.8.1 by adding a code widget, which would restore the functionality of the old text widget. Will the PHP Text widget work with the new code widget in core? If not, please provide us with an update that does. Otherwise this plugin is dead and I have a huge problem with 50+ sites.

Could you fix it?
Plugin was working fine for me but after a change of host of WP updates it is not throwing error :
Fatal Error: Call to undefined function get_field() in …/public_html/wp-content/plugins/php-text-widget/plugin.php(18): eval()’d code on line 9
Currently site is running 1.0.8 version of the plugin, WP version is 4.2.2 and PHP version 5.5.24

Thanks
]]>Thanks for your work.
I can’t access a global var defined in a function in functions.php.
function is exectued as I can access the var in any template file.
Is this on purpose?
How can I access my var in a widget?
thanks
]]>Love the plugin. It might however be helpful if you indicated in the install process that it doesn’t create a new widget. I spent a few minutes looking for a PHP Text Widget before I figured out you were just extending the functionality of the existing widget.
Might just be me, but it can’t hurt to make that clear.
Thanks for the great work.
