I was exactly in the same situation until a few minutes ago… although I have almost no knowledge with computers and codes…
I actually wanted to delete this plugin and clicked on edit, then pencil-wiki/readme.txt and there it says something slightly different as the message (which was slightly different for me):
2. Copy the content from the plugin’s */theme* directory to your current theme directory.
3. In the Administration Panel > Settings > General, change the default role from *Subscriber* to *Wiki Author*; or give the required capabilities to your users.
I just did step two and don’t have the message anymore, but I think I have some other problems with my posts, none of which appear weather wiki or not.

This looks like a useful plugin. Well, potentially useful is a better description. There’s zero documentation and not even some screenshots to guide a potential user.

Hello,
I thank you for creating this awesome plugin, but it keeps on saying that “Pencil Wiki is almost ready. You need to copy the files from wp-content/plugins/pencil-wiki/ to your current theme directory (wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default).”
I have already copied the files in cpanel file manager, but the pop up does not go away. Also, my test wiki page did not pop up when I created one from “Edit Wiki Page.”
Do you know what the problem is? I can give you my admin login if necessary, as I really need a functional wiki. I would really appreciate the help and will spread the word!
