Very happy user here. This is a brilliant plugin. Powerful yet simple and not overloaded with options and jargon. Does it’s work quietly in the background. Good support team too if any queries. Usually plug and play bu5 always worth checking your images before going live. Highly recommended!

Use with care
Recently discovered (via a message in the Optimole admin panel on our site) that there is a limit on the number of images you can host (50k in the starter pack). Contacted Optimole and they said in an email that there is a cap on the number of images you can host.
Their own fair use policy says “There is no fixed limit on the number of images you can host” and the description on the official WordPress plugin site says in the FAQ section “The number of images you can optimize or store is unlimited, we only care about the number of visits you make per month”.
Multiple feedbacks over 3 months without resolution,
When you host images, Optimole doesn’t clean up when you delete them, which causes the hosted images to quickly reach the limit and become unusable
Be careful if you plan to host a lot of images

We host and maintain several high storage websites for our International Real Estate clients, where the image inventory was consistently taking up huge amounts of storage space on our servers. We checked out other solutions which turned out to be extremely expensive before coming across Optimole, which has turned to be very worth while for us and very cost effective.
It’s not massively difficult to setup, but you may want to use a developer for some parts of it, if you want to get the full benefit from it.
Yes, it is a little confusing when it says there are no limits, but they do have a usage policy in place to restrict abnormally high levels of traffic, so be wary of that… but all in all, an excellent plugin!
Their customer services team are helpful too, so reach out to them if you have any issues.

Works well for my site. Thanks!

I would give less than one star if it were possible. The plugin works very well and I really liked it. Having a newly opened site that I am still working on, the free limit of 1k visits per month was safe and perfect. Too bad they are patent CHEATERS and after a month or so of use they wrote me an email saying I exceeded the 1k monthly visits, and by a lot too! This would have really pleased me if it weren’t for the fact that I get about 1/2 visit a day on this site! But who do they think they are kidding? And all this to demand payment to pro’s of as much as $20 a month, not a joke, for work that other plugins do (without even holding our photos on one of their phantom servers…) for free! Real for free! So no thanks, and then at $20 you have a limit anyway that I don’t remember now, which there and then seems high and attainable in dreams, but if from 30, 60 maximum 80 visits a month on a site they say with impunity that they exceed 1k, do you still trust them? I don’t!

Broke my site by updating image names & paths, when mesaly 1k limit exceeded, it broke my client’s site. They can’t revert back to my old paths to existing un Optimold optimized images. I had selected to leave images on my server & their cloud. Tried downloading image zip file but their new images weren’t included. Support said paying for their service wouldn’t fix. So now I’m fixing one by one manually, inexcusable.?

Recently discovered (via a message in the Optimole Admin panel on our website) that there is a limit on the number of HOSTED images (50k on the starter package). Contacted Optimole who state in an email that there is a cap on the number of hosted images.
Their own fair usage policy says that there is, quote: “no fixed limits on the number of images hosted”, and the description on the official WordPress plugin site says in the FAQ section: “The number of images that you can optimize or store is unlimited, we care only about the number of visits you have per month”.
We reached to ask for a clear list of the number of images that can be hosted for each plan, but they don’t seem to want to tell us these numbers.
If you are planning on hosting a lot of images. Becareful!

Optimole has been a game-changer for my website’s speed! Since installing the plugin, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in page load times. The combination of lazy loading, CDN delivery, and automatic conversion to WebP and AVIF formats is fantastic. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into offering a comprehensive solution. Plus, the setup was a breeze, and I haven’t had any conflicts with other plugins. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this plugin, because it is not a simple image optimization plugin, it is very advanced.

I couldn’t get the dashboard to connect. Support said it’s because my site isn’t public. I don’t want it to be public, it’s not ready. I don’t get this. How am I supposed to see if I want to implement it for when the site goes live, if the site already has to be live? I’m no Dev but this seems dumb to me. And although I’m new at this, I have not run into this situation on any other plugin.

I didn’t understand some of the settings and wondered why I wasn’t getting WebP served. Support got back to me really quickly and explained what I needed to do to sort it. It was as simple as unchecking a couple of options. Thanks Optimole!

it’s not working for me

I had the free version and it worked well for a few years. Then one day, to my surprise, I discovered that almost all the images (thousands!) had disappeared from the site. They have physically disappeared from the site! After hours of absolute panic, I investigated for several days to understand what the cause could be. Only by chance did I discover by Googling that other desperate people had had the same problem and the cause was Optimole. In fact, there is a plugin setting (which many do not notice among the many possible ones), which transfers all the images to the Optimole server, deleting them from the site. When an “over quota” occurred, Optimole blocked the account and therefore all images became invisible. At that point it seemed like the only way to fix the problem was to pay for a subscription.
Upon further investigation, I discovered that there was an option in the settings to transfer images back from Optimole to the site. The operation was successful, but it was a bad experience with days of worry and depression over having lost years of work.
I believe it would have been more honest and transparent for Optimole to clearly inform the user that the quota was exceeded before lowering the guillotine on the images, and in any case return the site to its previous state (the pages in fact had links pointing to Optimole, so none of them worked).
In short, it seemed like a terrible ploy to force people to use the paid version, taking advantage of the fact that less experienced people wouldn’t be able to understand and solve the problem without having to pay. Once I recovered the site and images with the expected procedure, I deleted Optimole.

I tested (fortunately) this plugin in one of my smallest sites, in order to check how it worked and that I could uninstall it in the future if necessary.
Unfortunately, the process didn’t work out well, more than 500 images dissapeared and stopped working, and the owners of the plugin don’t offer any real solution that works. The only solution provided was to manually restore the images, which I did (using their export function), but some images are still lost and I don’t have any way to recover them easily.
The owners justify that the plugin works for most cases, stating that “Our plugin is designed to function efficiently across a wide range of environments, yet unforeseen interactions with specific configurations can occasionally result in issues like the ones you’ve experienced.”, which is a red flag for me, as this was just a small and simple test.
I would never trust something so important and sensible as the images of my websites to a plugin/company that does not take responsability if anything goes wrong.
This test gave so much work and I had to invest so much of time just to get back where I started, can definitely not recommend it.

This is a brilliant plugin that I used to replace Nitro, which unaccountably lowered by loading speed massively after a site restore. It does the job and plays nicely with other plugins so far as I can tell.

I have been using Optimole for a few months now and I am very impressed with its performance and features. Optimole is the best image optimization plugin I have ever used. It automatically compresses and resizes my images to fit any device and browser, without compromising the quality. It also serves them from a fast and reliable CDN, which improves my site speed and SEO. Optimole has a very easy and intuitive interface, where I can manage all my images and settings. I highly recommend Optimole to anyone who wants to optimize their images and boost their site performance. Thank you, Optimole, for this awesome plugin!
