Hello @nosegraz,
I would like to suggest adding “Google Books” and “Reedsy”, next to the GoodReads link:
Books → Settings → Book Layout.
In my humble opinion, I think they are three equivalent search sources for books.
I hope you like the idea. Many thanks for your time.
Hello,
I would like to suggest you add a new book info field: DOI.
A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique and never-changing string assigned to a digital document, for example, a digital book or EPUB.
Sample Format: https://doi.org/10.0000/0269881118800000
Here there is additional information:

Please, let me know. Many thanks!
In the Book page(provided link) I use this shortcode: [novelist-books title=”true”]
It used to work. But know it is just stopped working. It’s showing the theme’s default look.
I think you have to check the compatibility of your plugin with the new version of WordPress.
hey there, after installing your plugin i’m wondering if i can use it to build an open review/book list site for zines.
in theory i need an easy way for anyone (they could be contributer and I could approve) to add a book with a review. this has to be done with the smallest effort and ease for the guest.
I dont care if I have to create a page or something, but i need an easy for users to create.
please help!
Can the “Books” section be used by a user to add their books, and then configure alerts/notifications when a book is added to the site, or a comment/review is added to an existing book, like a book wishlist?
Additionally, is there a way for a user to subscribe to or follow activity on a given book, via the book page itself?
Thanks in advance!
First, I usually roll my own set-up here, so I was pleased to see your plugin, thanks! But, the implication is that when I activate it /books will become a nice grid of books, right? But I’m getting the usual CPT books archive here, looks like a blog.
I inherited this site and this plugin was already installed and activated and I believe it was fine before, so I’m not sure what I’m missing. ??
Help? Thank you!
Dear Support,
I have over 200 Books and want to use the Search Bar within the Books->All Books section but it is not working. Nothing happens after clicking the “Search Books” btn. The Search result says: > Search Result for ?“ <

PHP Version: 7.2.29

Thank you!
Can this plugin be used to display ratings on the books?
Hi, thanks for plugin
My question is Can I add books chapter?
I mean I don’t sell the book just I share chapters for readers.
Thanks…
Hi,
I just installed Novelist plugin and am using the [novelist-books] shortcode to create my own grid:
[novelist-books columns="6" series="none"? full-content="true" orderby="date"]
But the result is that all the text and image are kind of compressed in a single column, as shown in the indicated webpage.
I also disabled the automated /books/ archive.
What would be an appropriate shortcode instantiation so that the book description is spread over the length of the page?
Regards.
Hi I just wanted to delete this post but can’t find any way to do it
since I think I found the answer I was looking for.
Hello, when I try to see the series from a book the redirect url shows nothing.
Actually when I visit directly the book I can see the series at the informations from the book. When I click on the series to see the whole results I see a page which say no resultsto show.
Hello, I have to create 500 books. Is any option for bulk import with csv, xml or something like that?
Hi everyone,
I have been messing around with my theme to find where I could change the “More Details” text button in my book grid (see link). But I didn’t find anything…
I would like to translate it in French with “Plus d’infos”.
What is bothering me more is that I managed somehow to get it done few weeks ago before a complete reset of my website :-/
Thank you in advance.
Hi NoseGraze,
I was wondering which user roles are able to add and edit books?
As administrator I have the full access. But what happens for those users that I want to be restricted to be an author or editor?
Thanks, Jorg
Hi,
Thanks to the maker(s) for this plugin. It’s beautiful.
I’m looking into tweaking some things and getting the most out of it. One thing I noticed is a bookmark icon. I’m not sure though if it comes from the plugin or that it may be from the theme I got. But I assume it is from the plugin. At the book cover and the synopsis I see a book cover icon. I would like to take it out and see how that would be like. I just can’t find it. Can’t even grap it with the web inspector. Any way someone can give a hint?
Thanks,
Jorg
I’m using the Verbosa theme and Novelist to create my book list on my author website. I created a page titled ‘About Julie’ and added a bio to it before I installed the Novelist plugin. When setting up Novelist, I must have copied that content into a setting somewhere, because it appears in an ‘About the Author’ section below every individual book in the archive created by Novelist.
I’ve now edited the ‘About Julie’ bio to make it shorter, but I can’t find out where I need to go to in order to edit the About the Author content. Please does anyone have any ideas? I’ve searched in all the menus and the customise options but I simply can’t see it.
Many thanks, Julie
Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to have one book belong to multiple series?
For example Book X belongs to series A, and series B
In series A it is the 5th book though,
and in series B it’s the 1st book.
At the moment I can select two series, but then series B becomes sub of series A, when they should be separate if possible, and with different numbering, please?
Hello
tell me how it works:
Add Book Grid > Split Results into Multiple Pages? set Yes
but on page does not show links by type: Page1> Page2>
how can this be realized?
I installed this plugin and before doing so I already had a subdirectory called /books
I decided not to use Novelist, but even with the checkbox checked to delete all data when plugin deleted, all my old links for pages under /books now redirect to my home page
Hi –?while I’ve added content beyond the synopsis, I get a blank page when I click the CONTINUE READING button. I’ve poked around considerably trying to get this to work; is there possibly incompatibility with my theme (Paragraph)?
Thanks!
I downloaded the Novelist plugin today and it changed my .htaccess file so that any pages with the word ‘book’ in them could no longer be accessed. I had to deactivate the plugin and reset my permalinks to access those pages. Is this a bug or a feature?
Hi, I’m Novelist’s last version and I can’t upload book covers. Also, where is the Author field? I had to adapt Contributors and use it as an Author field.
Hello
I just got the plugin.
I created a page for books to be displayed and started adding books.
My problem is that the books are not displaying and I do not know how to make them show up.
Please assist.
I have checked the FAQ etc but no luck there.
Thanks for any help.

Loving this plugin, but when I add a new book series or add a new genre, it adds a link to those pages on the book but doesn’t actually create a page for them. So if someone clicks on the link, they get a “page not found” message. Do I need to create the pages manually?
Hello,
I’m using Novelist plugin and I love it. But there is one thing I would like to ask you. Is there a way to enable comments on a book single page? I can’t find ‘Discussion’ or ‘Comments’ in the screen options.
Could you tell me what should I do to enable comments?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Kamil
Hello,
I’ve created my template and it’s working great, save for the fact I can’t get the purchase or good reads buttons to work. I’m admittedly not super great with php, but can usually edit. I’m sure I’ve made an obvious mistake, but was wondering if you could tell me where I went wrong?
$book = new Novelist_Book( get_the_ID() );
if ( $book->title ) {
echo '
' . esc_html( $book->title ) . '
';
}
if ( $book->series_name ) {
echo '
' . ( $book->series_name ) . '
';
}
echo '
' . wpautop( $book->synopsis ) . '
';
?>

<?php echo $book->purchase_links; ?>

<?php echo $book->goodreads_link; ?>

This returns the text “Array” followed by the URL for Goodreads, not the button I uploaded per the instructions that works splendidly if I use the regular template.
Hi there,
Thanks so much for the plugin: I’m just finding my feet with it.
A small question: I’d really like the single book pages to use my ‘Full Width’ page template to get rid of the sidebar. It’s currently using the default page template.
Is there any way to change that?
Thanks.
Hello,
First and foremost, thank you very much for your plugin, very useful and nicely done.
I am having a problem trying to make a custom template. I followed the steps given in the FAQ, creating the folder “novelist” in my theme’s folder, creating the book-content.php file, putting a template there (actually, I just copied the file from the novelist plugin and modified it to see any changes), but it still grabs the template from the plugins folder.
I am using a child theme, I don’t know if it has anything to do with that.
Thank you very much!
Hello (again) NoseGraze,
I’m inserting a query of books in my front-page.php but I don’t figure out how can I get the book cover. The classic <?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?> isn’t working. I also tried with <?php get_cover_image (); ?> but it doesn’t work either. I read documentation but I cannot figure out what can I use instead of this.
This is the entire query :
/*************** LIST OF 3 LAST PUBLICATIONS USING NOVELIST *************/
$books_query = new WP_Query( array( 'post_type' => 'book', 'posts_per_page' => 3 ) ); ?>

<?php while ( $books_query->have_posts() ) : $books_query->the_post(); ?>

<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?>

<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>">
get_cover_image ();

<?php endwhile; ?>

Best Regards,
Guillermo
