Please can someone help? How can I password protect the ‘click here to upload images’ on the page? We had it last year but I can’t seem to work it out this year.

]]>Why is it when I use Nextgen Public Uploader the image uploaded get a long alphanumeric name appended to the image name; like this- image name before upload;
kids-awards11.jpg
Name after being uploaded with Nextgen Public Uploader;
kids-awards11-86be525886e40c9572f6db92874ff1edb22bae1e.jpg
Yet when the same image is uploaded inside Nextgen Gallery “add Images” no name change occurs?
Can anybody tell me why that is happening.
The NextGEN Gallery Public Uploader plugin was originally written to work with NextGEN Gallery version 1.x. When they made the jump to version 2.x, their changes affected the functionality of the frontend uploader plugin. We have been keeping the plugin limping along and fixing what we can, but to be honest, it likely needs a rewrite from the ground up. And that’s not something we’re prepared to do.
As of today, we will no longer be supporting the NextGEN Public Uploader plugin. We have updated the Github repo with the latest version, and if you would like to work on it, please feel free to fork it and submit patches.
]]>Hi,
Although the plugin seemed to work without any problem activated in a site of a MultiSite network, then I discovered that it has to be deactivated to be able to activate other plugins, otherwise error 500 appears when trying to activate other plugins with NextGEN Public Uploader activated.
I look forward to your news.
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards.
]]>The latest NextGEN Public Uploader isn’t working with the NextCellent Gallery. If the shortcode is on the page, the page simply doesn’t load. Going back to the old version for now.
]]>I am getting a error when I try to apply settings in settings panel for the plugin.
“Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
after this I can not access the settings for the plugin and have to deactivate and activate to get settings options. If I try to apply settings the same happens
How do I solve this?

]]>Hi there. I’d like to have the watermark automatically applied to all images uploaded by the users through the Frontend Uploader extension, either by using the NextGEN Gallery default watermark feature, or by using a third-party plugin such as Image Watermark (https://www.dfactory.eu/plugins/image-watermark/).
If this requires extensive code interventions outside of hooking to something through my theme’s functions.php, I’m happy to do that, just point me to the relevant function I need to modify (presumably somewhere after the upload has been completed and the photo resized), and I’ll modify the plugin code myself. Future update compatibility is not an issue, it’s a simple site that’ll be active for a couple of weeks and then shut down.
I just need a starting point, so any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!
]]>It would be great if your plugin provided a form to include some information about the person uploading, so they could be contacted, for example, if their upload was accepted.
Just a name and an email contact field would be a great improvement. Even better would be an automatic email response sent to the uploader, confirming the successful upload, etc.
Meanwhile, is there any way to hook into this plugin when someone uploads, to set something like this up?
]]>Hi,
Love this plugin and how easy it is to upload images directly into the Nextgen gallery. But images are being displayed without being approved. I have checked the option: “Exclude images from appearing in galleries until they have been approved.” Is there anything else that needs to be checked?
Thanks!

]]>Since the latest WP update I am having significant problems, not only with the display of my NextGEN gallery slideshow but also the NextGEN Public Uploader on my forum page.
The Public Uploader acts erratic, sometimes it throws an error “are you sure you want to do this?” (not one of my error messages in Public Uploader settings!) Or it will geek the page load display badly when I attempt to upload and never displays an error message. Or more recently it appears that I am successful selecting an image from my hard drive, titling it (my field) and then it returns a message “Your image has been successfully uploaded.” However when I refresh the gallery, nothing has uploaded. I never receive a notification email although that is set properly in my Public Uploader Settings. All Uploader settings are correct and are pointing to the correct gallery. The widget is properly set up in the side bar. Nothing has changed in at least 2 years. It has worked flawlessly so there has been no need to worry about it.
Additionally, whether related or not, the NextGEN slideshow (using the gallery where the images are uploaded to) in the side bar, when the page is loading, displays all images in the whole gallery vertically for about a minute or so, and then finally the slideshow will start working correctly.
The NextGEN forum has not been able to provide me any help with the slideshow. I don’t know if these two issues are related.
I have gone through the troubleshooting, disabling all plugins, trying a default theme, enabling plugins slowly to determine if one is at fault, logged out, logged in, tried it both ways. I tried this in several browsers, firefox and chrome both tell me I am successful.
I tried the js error console but show no errors related to the NextGEN slideshow or the Uploader.
Any troubleshooting help would be appreciated. This plugin is very valuable to our site where owners upload pictures of their sick dogs.
Thank you, Matoca

]]>When users upload photos using the Public Uploader plugin, does it capture the username at all?
We want a series of albums and galleries that registered users can upload their photos into. However, we want to make sure that we can distinguish between photos WE (site owners) add to the galleries vs. photos other our registered users add to the galleries.
]]>Bonjour,

Merci beaucoup.

]]>Hi,

Because gallery destination is on different site page I was wondering if it is possible to set a Public button upload where user could manually choose gallery? I was imagine like drop down menu or something.

]]>Hi there
This is a great plugin, however, I can not add upload restrictions to allow “Customers”. This plugin only allows me to add Visitors (everyone has access) or Subscribers and above. But the people I want to give access are Customers.
Is there a way to add Customers, too?
Thanks
]]>When I start a new post or page, and click to insert a public uploader, it brings up the pop-up, I select the gallery I want and hit insert, the box flashes and nothing happens. After that I can not click insert again. I can get the uploader working by inserting the shortcode [ngg_uploader] but I need this to work for my customer without having to manually insert the shortcode. Is there any beta version or workaround to get this working? Thanks
Currently using NEXTGEN Gallery Version 2.1.43 and Public Uploadeder 1.8.2

Hi,
Does this extension only allow the upload of image file types?
I will be disabling code execution within the upload folder itself for security. Would this cause any issues?
Thanks

]]>Is NextGEN Public Uploader compatible with NextCellent Gallery? Thanks.
]]>Hi,
We are having a new website built on the Magento platform, with a WordPress integration for the blog.
Our developers are installing the NextGen uploader plugin to allow our customers to upload their product shots.
My only concern is the security of this plugin. What file types are allowed to be uploaded?
Can malicious programs be uploaded, maybe masked as an image file?
Can auditing process will we have over images that are uploaded?
In the worst case scenario, could malicious uploads bring down our whole website?
Thanks for your help.
]]>Hi,
Thanks for a great plugin.
I’ve edited the NextGen gallery template file so that the Public Uploader shortcode is inserted at the bottom of each Gallery page.
The gallery template I edited is:
“domain_name”/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery-plus/modules/nextgen_pro_masonry/templates/index.php
As a final step, I need to insert a variable into the shortcode. The variable I want to insert is the ID of the current gallery page being viewed INTO the public uploader shortcode where it asks for gallery ID.
Unfortunately I’ve never played with php before. So far I have this solution:
<?php echo do_shortcode(“[ngg_uploader id=<?php esc_attr_e($displayed_gallery_id); ?>]”); ?><?php $this->end_element(); ?>
It successfully displays the uploader form, but the images are not uploading to the correct gallery ID, so its not working properly.
Do you know how I can change this to make it work?
Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you
