This is a very nice widget that enables me to highlight all recent news stories in a particular ‘Post’ category. It provides a wide variety of settings enabling me to control what is presented on screen.
The plugin could be improved if it could be inserted anywhere on a website; currently the plugin can only be added to a website via ‘Widget’ functionality, which limits where it can be inserted.

It works.

Images won’t appear, and the instructions to fix it make no sense. The link to the developer’s site requires a login. I have to assume there is no support for this. I’d stay away.

Thumbnails do not show.
Excerpt at bottom gets cut off.
In addition, when i would edit my page, then hit Update, my screen would just stay blank. Had to hit the back button to get back to the page. A real hassle. Uninstalled plugin and all works now, so was able to isolate that Newstastic was the issue.

It does what I need. Sure you can always find something it doesn’t do – like coffee.
But its cool that it works using a shortcode.
Unfortunately its broken now, but while working its the best I’ve seen yet.

Finally recent post slider that works! Thank for it!
I have tips, what to improve:
– themes or CSS editing
– on/off the next-previous button
– display title only (i don’t know why, but if I disable content display, under the title there is a another title).

Nifty little slider. If no image is avalailable in a post it should not display a block saying “no image” but just not display post holder at all.the overflow bar at the bottom o the slider is not very attractive. Also the option post number is not clear, is this the latest 5 or 10 posts of the selected category. If more that one post is selected, they overflow and the next one is seen in the slider as opposed to one post at a time showing in the slider window or it looks messy. the slider does not seem to slide automatically.
best of luck and thanks for taking the time to create this plugin.

It’s more or less than I was looking for (similar than Tomshardware scroller) but could it be better if you can set a background color, title color and move or remove the “next menu” in the top of the widget.
