Hi,
I really need this plug-in! Will it be updated? Will it continue to be supported? It is very unique, I cannot find a substitute.
Aside: Hopefully you have been receiving donations for your hard work. I have not been able to try it yet. But when I have I hope to donate too.
I am hopeful.
]]>After install, enable and configuration I was able to tinker with some biblio stuff on a post. Shortly thereafter, I could no longer access the dashboard. Attempts to do so always resulted in a memory exhaustion error.
It seems there’s a memory leak somewhere because it failed after consuming 256Mb.
I had to rename the plug-in directory in order to administer my site.
]]>Hello
Would you be able to evelop a wp3.5 compatible version sometime soon?
Thanks
I would like to be able to import references from my EndNote Library, and I see this feature is scheduled for version 3 of this NetBlog plugin. Any information on when version 3 will be published?
Thanks ??
]]>Installed Netblog and nothing appears in the links search window and none of the widgets seems to work.
]]>Hi,
Just trying my hands at your plugin – wow! good work!
I was a little surprised however that there’s only one Author field per reference entry. My first reference was an article with two authors and that makes either the table of bibliography or the inline citation look wrong e.g using the Chicago citation style, I have “SMITH, A and JOHN, R 2012” for the author which renders as “(SMITH, A and JOHN, R, 2012)”. I should think optional field for a second and third author and an et al option would be a good addition.
Are the paraphrasing citation handled in any way e.g
Smith and John have argued that blah blah blah (2012)
?
I managed to create a duplicate entry for my first reference – how do I delete it except in the database?
]]>Just wondering if there is any way to get the reference maker to appear on my custom post entry page? I’ve created a website with custom posts called “Publications”. If I add or edit a post in the Publications area I can’t see the Netblog Reference Maker but any ordinary post shows it.
Would be super useful if I could.
Thanks in advance.

I checked the .zip file and the file is actually missing.
]]>Hi,
It appears that I’m having another issue with Netblog. For some reason, the widgets are not working at all. I have tried disabling all other plugins, in case there was a conflict somewhere, but they still did not work. Neither “Further Reading” nor “Referenced By” appear anywhere, no matter where I place them.
A potentially related problem that I’m also having is that the “Further Reading” search box does not display any external results, only links that are local to my site.
Am I the only person experiencing these issues? It is a fairly fresh installation of WordPress, I just installed Netblog, two more plugins, and barely have any posts on it yet. Not quite sure if I’m doing something wrong…
Thanks,
HSidky
Hello,
Upon trying to activate Netblog on a fresh install of WordPress 3.4.1, I receive the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot pass parameter 2 by reference in /xxxxxx/wp-content/plugins/netblog/core/DataTransfer.php on line 64
Any idea what might be causing this?
Thanks,
hsidky
Where does the generated reference display on the page? I copy both short codes, the short one and the long one, and they both only display a citation. How do I get a reference to display on the page?
My reference maker is empty, so I’m not sure if that is what does it, but I can see that bibliography’s is giving me 2 short codes for citations.
]]>Hi there,
Thanks for offering this plug-in. I found a typo within your description: Reference Maker: Another tiny tool to speep up daily work! I believe it should read, speed up, rather than speep!

Hi,
I’m using WP 3.3.2. If I activate the NetBlog plugin I receive the following fatal error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 36700160 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /home/www/web97/html/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 1116
Is the plugin not compatible with WP 3.3.2 ?
Thanks for your help ??
]]>Hello,
1)
I have this error text in the upper section of my admin screen (but the plugin seems normal for the rest):
Warning: curl_setopt_array() [function.curl-setopt-array]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/wp-content/plugins/netblog/core/DataTransfer.php on line 25
It turns out the safe_mode is turned on, so it probably has to do with open_basedir settings. I’m on shared hosting, so I will probably have to contact my hosting provider to lift restrictions in php.ini.
My question is however: is this essential for the functionality of the plugin? Or can I just ignore that error, without contacting my hosting provider?
2)
If I click on “Links” in the menu, then I don’t see the nice GUI like the one that I can see in the screenshots on your website, or like in in the screenshot tab of the netblog plugin page in the wordpress plugin repository. I only see the title “Netblog MEL – Manage External Links”, the smiling faces, and the message: “You do not have any external links, yet. But this is no problem. Adding External Links Go to the Edit Post …” (it’s a fresh install, so no links yet).
Is that normal?
3)
I very much like the idea and completeness of the plugin. I am a part-time academic, so it certainly has some value for me. I saw on your website that you are soliciting donations to work on netblog 3.0. I might be willing to make a small donation, but I was wondering if you know other people who want to make a small donation as well, to get this development started? It would be rather stupid looking if I would be the only one to click the paypal button.
Did you consider using a crowdfunding platform by the way (i.e. Indiegogo)? It also offers some visibility, but it comes at a price: you pay a heavy commission.
]]>Hi,
the Further Reading plugin is only showing external resources I add, and not any references to posts or pages within my site. The internal resources get added correctly in the admin, but they don’t show up on the actual page of my site.
For reference:
Both the post and the page I am trying to reference are published.
As a secondary point: you may note that a link to Google shows up on the frontend (and I did add it in the admin) but is no longer listed in the admin. That is also very strange but less pressing of a problem.
Am I doing something wrong? I can’t find any settings that help.
Thanks for your help!
]]>Hi
Is there a shortcode to use in a post to include one or more links to external websites stored in the MEL instead of having the further reading widget in a sidebar?
]]>Hi,
A bit confused with how the captions work. On adding new captions via the reference maker I get the error

I checked the nbcpt.php files for any white space etc. Still getting the error.
All other functions are working well, biblio, footnotes etc.

TR147 .D37 2000
Ethics, copyright, and the bottom line: a symposium on digital technologies and professional photography. Camden, ME: The Center, The Company, c1992. 94 p.
TR147 .E84 1992
Photographs objects histories: on the materiality of images. London; New York: Routledge, 2004. xi, 222 p.
GN34.3.P45 P48 2004
Abbot, Willis John. Panama and the canal in picture and prose. New York: Syndicate Pub. Co., 1913. 1 p. l., 412 p.
F1564 .A13*

Is this possible?

]]>Is there a way to create a bibliography table at the end of a post, with full APA/MLA citation text for references without also having citations appear inline in the post?
]]>Greets. I am looking for an advanced citations manager but I don’t wish to burden my posts with the feeling of actually being an academic paper.
I’ve read over the tutorials, the Readme, gone through the Settings page but I can’t see how I might do what I’d really want to do. Something along the lines of Wikipedia citations. This is, after all, the web and I really, really dislike heavily citation laden texts on casual webpages — I really, really like highly linked texts that allow you to verify the authors citations.
Is there any way of doing this?
For example:
When you are looking to install NetBlog the Installation Guide states, “Your WordPress version is 2.8 or higher” as one of the requirements.
or
You have to have WordPress version 2.8 or higher to use NetBlog[1].
I don’t want to do:
You have to have WordPress version 2.8 or higher to use NetBlog (“How to Install Netblog”, 2011) (nothing hyperlinks…)
I note that the Tutorial has a section about creating your own filters but I don’t see any way of doing what I’m proposing (as the filter seems to draw on literal strings submitted and has no mechanism for auto-generating numbers).
In other words, this looks like a beast and I can’t tell if I can use it to reach my final desired product (in which case I’d be willing to spend however many hours working on it) or if, even after gaining a full appreciation for the system, it still won’t be able to do what I want.
I appreciate the help.

Hi,
Let me first compliment you for the great plugin.
I have installed the plugin and wanted to use it to reference external content via the Further Reading plugin.
The existing searche API’s do not find my links and I wanted to change the WWW search API configuration. After the changes I keep getting the same results in the searches. It looks like the search configuration in the background is not changed, although I see updated settings. When I use the updated search API in a browser I get different results. Via NetBlog I keep getting the same results as the previous configured search.
Tried many time, but could not get it working. What did I do wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help.
