Hi there and thanks for this plugin! It is exactly what I was looking for.
I’d like to translate the “Continue reading” link (and other text, if there is any) to German. I know that I can change the text in my theme’s functions.php, but I think it makes more sense to prepare the plugin for general translation.
Greetings, Bert
Hi.
I’ve just activated this plug in but I haven’t been able to see any difference. I’m certainly no tech expert, but i followed the instructions. I’ve made sure the full text is selected and then I have the following in the Text section of a post that I’ve previously published.
so what on earth was I waiting for? <!–more–>
The link to this post is https://www.emmaontour.com/hi-im-emma-whats-this-blog-about/
feed://www.emmaontour.com/feed/
I’ve placed it after the first paragraph as per above.
Could someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
Emma

Okay…can’t figure this one out.
In my feed, I get the full text of posts inside a
tag and the excerpted text right where I placed the <!–more Read more…–> tag inside a
tag.
How can I get rid of this first piece of content, as that’s what’s showing in the feed and therefore my emails that are RSS driven.
Thanks
JMR

My newsletter that I send out with my latest posts has stopped working since adding this plugin.
I am using both Mailchimp and Aweber. With both of these providers I am using my RSS feed to populate the newsletter automatically.
I don’t get any errors but the locations within the newsletter that are supposed to display the recent posts are just empty.
Thanks

Hi
I can’t seem to get this to work. I have used the <!–feed–> option and the <!–more–> option but neither of them work.
I also have “Full text” selected in the Reading Settings.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks

Probably just user error, but I can’t get the custom text to work.
I put in
and I see that exact text within the text of my post (draft preview mode — haven’t published yet).
What am I doing wrong?

I know that the <-more–> thingy cuts even the WordPress’s posts on the homepage.
I want it to cut the RSS posts with a “read more…” link. Only on the RSS Feed.
Another question, will this work with example.com/atom or only /feed?
Because I’m having TONS of issues with /feed and it’s been years of searching to fix it and I just couldn’t. I use the /atom now.

I have tried the plugin and unfortunately the post where i use the “more” a adsense box show up.
Do you have any idea why?
Could it be because i use easy adsense plugin and can I do anything to solve it?
Thank you.

I would like to change the continue reading text to either include the blog post title, or remove it all together. Is this something that can easily be done?
Thank you!

Hey, I’m looking for something like this so that only the image from my posts appear in the feed and then the related text has to be read on the site. This is working fine when I add the <!– more –> tag between the image and the text, but then that also truncates the post on the site itself. Should that be happening? If so, then I guess I’m looking for something similar to this plugin which uses a different tag.

I have just installed this plugin. I’m also using the ‘RSS Footer’ plugin. Unfortunately, enabling the ‘mPress Custom Feed Excerpts’ plugin somehow prevents the HTML code from the ‘RSS Footer’ plugin to show up. Can you update your plugin to be compatible with the ‘RSS Footer’ plugin?

I installed your v0.2 plugin to my v3.5.1 WordPress install.
I activated the plugin and set “For each article in a feed, show: Full text”.
My blog post has the <!– more –> tag inserted.
Yet the full version of my blog is still shown in the feed.
Any suggestions? Could the functionality of this plugin depend upon the theme used? Any issues working with Feedburner and the FD Feedburner plugin, which I’m using?
Thanks,
Andrew

I just installed your mPress Custom plugin (updated 01/13). The “Continue reading” for the excerpt is missing. I tried the work around code by Micah Wood described but no luck. Is there something else I need to add? If so, what file and where do I put it? I see in your response that you were going to update your plugin which I assume is in the newest release now?

I’m using a modified version of your plugin, and I realized that your use of preg_split will almost always evaluate to true (because a non-empty array evals to true), resulting in balanceTags being run on all content again.
It would be more correct if you did something like this:
$split = preg_split( '#
<\/span>
#', $content, 2 );
if ( count( $split ) == 2 ) {
Also note: I added the paragraph-tags to your regex pattern, because WordPress adds those in. Otherwise, you get an empty paragraph left behind.
The reason I modified your plugin is I wanted some indication in the feed that there was more content to read on the site. So in that if statement I added the following line:
$content .= "
Continue Reading " . get_the_title_rss() . " ?
";
