I am using the Pro version of the plugin on a site running the Newspaper theme from TagDiv, which is essentially a badly-coded mess with a proprietary page builder that makes WP Bakery look good by comparison. Molongui’s support site actually informs users that there are only three WordPress themes, out of 30,000 or more, that their plugin has issues with, one of those being Newspaper and their cloud templates library. As I had bought the plugin prior to realizing this, I reported the problems I immediately experienced to Molongui support and then came across their info about compatibility.
My experience in working with WordPress for the last eight years or so, is that with any other plugin that was upfront about which themes it was incompatible with, I would either have been told to switch to a different theme that adheres to WordPress coding standards and best practices, and/or perhaps been offered a refund. Instead, John, one of the developers, literally spent hours on our staging site basically hacking his own plugin to work around all the Newspaper theme’s shortcomings.
It’s very rare to experience this level of support, even when the problems are with the developer’s own code, much less with someone else’s, and I would say the support deserves around 6.5 stars, were that an option.

This is a great plugin, but the problem arose when the author post count stopped after the last update, it needs to be fixed.
Moreover, Author Posts and Author Bio tabs have disappeared. Overall performance is satisfactory.

After installation I was having some issue as the writers and contributors were not linked to their archive pages (I am using a custom template to display my posts), I contacted the support and I received quick response from them.
They realeased two consecutive updates to resolve my issue. Special thanks to “John Locke” for contacting me with the solution on an urgent basis.
I wish all the very best for the team for their outstanding customer service. Thanks guys, you people are awesome!

We used both free and pro versions.
The plugin has major performance issues for sites with large userbase.
It will likely work fast when you have up to 10 users registered on your site but once you have 200k users list it will bring issues.
Post admin becomes slow, page admin becomes slow. Front pages also add slow quires that kill your site performance when loading that pages.
We submitted ticket to support forum. Developer offered some solutions that finally didn’t work.
We though it could be resolved via public updates but pity, never happened almost after a year wait. We would use it if developer had the ability to optimize queries properly and not going through all user list when making queries on each page and in pages admin.

UPD: changed on July 2024 to 4 stars since plugin author managed to fix performance problem reported.

The plugin support is indeed really good. They solve issues fast, which sounds common, but is unfortunately not the case with many plugin builders. They also provided a piece of code for a small customization. They know their coding. Worth buying the pro version. keep up the good work!

I was incredibly pleased with the aesthetic and flexibility of the Author Box. Then, I recently discovered a line of code that the plugin automatically installed that prevented a post image from rendering when shared to Twitter. (It was an Author meta tag that needed to be revised and correctly coded.) I submitted a support ticket asking how to delete the meta tag, and John from support reached out to me within hours and explained how I could drill down into the settings to disable that meta tag from being installed. He also said they just provided a fix to the plugin based on my feedback. I couldn’t be happier with how my Author Box looks and the support I’ve received!

at first I thought that I had not taken care of it, but when it happened the second time, I understood that something was wrong here.
I was setting up the author’s box and there I specified a link to the author’s page, and also filled in the “Website” field. Later, I saw that there was neither a page link nor a site icon in the box, so there was no link either.
These fields are not filled even in the admin panel, they simply disappeared. And it happened twice in a few hours. I clearly remember that I didn’t change anything and I didn’t delete anything, I don’t need it. But changes have happened and I don’t know what exactly.
I’m not going to wait for feedback and talk about how to improve this plugin, because I don’t like that little things taking up my time, I just have to find another plugin now. If you Can’t do normal stuff, fine, let’s find something else.

I bought the plugin, decided not to use it at the end. didn’t cancle the subscription and forgot about it
after a year I was charged without any notice email or so, and when I asked for a refund (only for the renewal) a few days after, they barely answered with a “no” and didn’t even try to understand I’m not and didn’t use their plugin.
Will never work with them again for any plugin and will never recommend company with this kind of customer service

I have a wordpress multisite (version 6.1.1.). I have installed this plugin “molongui-authorship” at the network and did the network activate. And then I activated this plugin in one of my subsite. I created one author. When I try to create a new post, the featured image block is not showing. It seems like the feature image button “components-button editor-post-featured-image__toggle” got overridden. The default height for the components-button is 34px. It becomes ‘auto’. I couldn’t upload the image here. I have provided the screenshots in the molongui website chat. But As Today is Sat, I don’t have any reply. Maybe the support will email me.

Just no question asked about the quality of Molongui Authorship. But besides that, I really wanted to give them a 5-star for their awesome customer service!
The support team, especially John gave me wonderful help with the incompatibility problem of my WordPress blog to the plugin (one existing plugin brought a crash to Molngui..). He worked really hard to troubleshoot my issue for as long as nearly a week consistently and end up fixing it all and making my site run great with their awesome author box plugin.
It was super impressive and I was very grateful for their service, given that I was just a free user. But they genuinely care for the issue as equally as other paid users. Heartwarming!!

This plugin offers a lot of functions for authors, co-authors and guest authors (not mention the author boxes), for this, in a newspaper as our site this plugin is critical for a lot of functions that are not offered in teh “base” WordPress.
