I’ve been using The Events Calendar for years. Since I am redesigning my site I thought I would try MEC — it has features that requires coding experience to get in TEC.
I can’t even get the basics going on it. Features are missing and support is useless, unless going in circles is your thing.
Their admin demo last for only two hours so you will be stuck asking support a bunch of questions and reading answers that do not apply to your question; or, answering your own questions by buying add-ons with the intent of getting refund after you figure it out.
I think I will stick with TEC and get someone on fiverr for some customization

If you are going to use the calendar, just as a calendar, then ok. But the moment you want to start integrating things, then everything goes wrong. The new version does not work with gravity forms installed, site breaks. Even their own plugins do not work well together, the API plugin and the divi builder module, 2 of their own plugins, break each other and you site looks like total garbage. The tickets and invoice module is useless as far as invoices go and their woocommerce plugin basically does what it wants after each update, deleting entries, eliminating paypal keys etc. the list goes on. Support is mainly a bot, when they do get back to you, they ask you to describe the issue IN DETAIL, I don’t have the time to do your work, test your stuff before you send out updates. Every update just causes chaos, which then takes hours to fix. Perhaps I should bill you for my time as well. Avoid these plugins where possible.

Just spent nearly 3 weeks going around and around with their support team on an issue we were having with their Facebook Import/Export as well as the Google Calendar Synchronization with no resolution.
We’ve had a paid license for over 2 years now and waited sometimes for days for an answer from them that was subpar at best. The plugin has always had issues and functionality constantly shifts, causing you to grow increasingly impatient as they gaslight you into thinking that “the plugin never worked like that”.
Such a waste of time. Moving to a different solution. Good riddance.

Thank you, Great Plugin – Good Support System

despite the Free plug-in M.E. Calendars Lite is a good app and offers lot of functionality. It would be a benchmark to other so called Free Plug-ins.
Not only the software is good, but also the Support! even the M.E. Calendar Lite support is swift and good.
All comments above are based on experiences we have had during a year with a non Profit Website.
Go for a commercial calendar? than GO the Professional Plug-in! M.E. Calendar the best and hope wil become leading in future!

This is exact the type of plugin I was looking for. Perfect to list the events. Best I could find!

I just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! After struggling for days to find an ideal events plugin, yours has been a godsend. It is so easy to use and customize. SO easy. And it worked on my website where other events plugins did not for some reason. Yours must just be written so cleanly that it worked flawlessly out of the box. Thank you again.

What can I say? I love the MEC in the free and in the Pro version. Simple, intuitive and very comprehensive even in the free version. The only thing I’m always a little afraid of when I use it: The design adjustments that I then have to make via CSS. Here I would like to have more flexibility. I bought the Divi Extension for the Modern Event Calendar… However, here the one or the other output is only in the English language and can not be translated, for example, by locotranslate. However, since I would be in the duty to contact the support here, I do not see this as a deficit. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
Nevertheless, I am very inclined to give a 5 star rating here, because the plugin developers deliver a great plugin and provide first class support. Thank you so much.

I tried a view plugins for a calendar in my site. There are good plugins out there but most of them bloated up my site. MEC has the possibility to activate or deactivate the CSS, JavaScript, etc files individually for every post site. With the shortcodes I have many possibilities to show individual categories or time.
It is easy to use.
Font size in single event could be bigger, but this can be changed with css.

The plugin itself is great, to an extent.
I am using it thouroughly for quite a while now, and it’s been both awesome and a pain sometimes (having considered multiple times to swap to another one, but the migration process would just take too long at this point). Love the integration with Elementor and the relatively ease of use.
Though it seems that the development team just patches things on the fly, without properly testing them, so you end up with a constant flow of patches that often enough end up breaking something else, and if you’re not very technical, you’re often left in the strand because of the lack of support.
They decided to build many addons and integrations which are appreciated, but again, not entirely tested (or so it seems to me).
Now on their website, the changelogs are not all visible anymore, and horrible UI to access them.
It’s essential that they’d
– focus more on building a proper testing suite (tdd, bdd, …). For example, a while back, the Zapier integration was introduced, but it was/is half-backed (at best) and was left like that.
– optimize the API calls from within the plugins to their servers for license checks (come up with a different model that doesn’t require repetitive calls for the same thing)
– check if the required libraries are already loaded to avoid cross-loading
– give the option of using internal libraries instead of relying on 3rd party services (i.e. support dompdf for PDF/invoice generation)
– fix their UI for checking the changelogs on their website because they don’t show up in the WP Panel either
– improve their customer support (i have the pro license)

I like the plugin itself, although a little complicated to use. The support takes several days to respond and is not very thorough in their answers. For even a simple questions, it may take 2-3 separate conversations to get close to an answer. This can take up to 4-5 days just to get to the point of getting some useful help.

A pretty great plugin with multiple settings and formats. Some training time is necessary. Small improvements are still to be made, e.g. category-based colors for the display.

I have been using the Webnus Event Plugin for a few years now and have also been able to follow the developments. I have always compared and tried other event plugins, but I always came back to the Webnus event plugin with WordPress. From the basic settings, it offers a good design template that works immediately and can be integrated into the website. It is also suitable for extensive changes and you can program your own templates and connect them with other plugins. Especially the geomapping works perfectly. I find the whole programme’s user interface very well done. There are always new extensions – which suggests that it is being continuously developed. For WordPress – the best choice for events.`

I have used both EventON and MEC extensively.
When I decided to launch a site that depended heavily on a calendar plugin I chose MEC because it is much more customisable than EventON.
But as many others have commented the support is terrible.
I have a major installation of the software and the site was effectively down after a bad upgrade and there was zero urgency in the support response.
There are several things to recommend this plugin. Customisation of display and Elementor integration being really good. BUT if you are starting out and if the event features is going to be mission critical for you, DO NOT use MEC unless you can do your own tech trouble shooting.

I tried several of the best calendar plugins and this is the best for me.
I’m really satisfied with this plugin and the quick support.
5 out of 5 guys!
Some suggestions for improving it:
– a visual editor for events view (current options are a bit weak)
– additional options for customizing grid view and so on (for non Elementor users)

Great plugin! Great free support! Well done Webnus!

I do a lot of websites with event calendars. I am slowly moving most from The Events Calendar to Modern Events Calendar. Why? Calendar layouts and support. You get so much more out of the box with MEC. It does recurring (repeating) events even in the FREE version. It does integrate with Elementor for building layouts (paid add-on).
– option to show one or all of a recurring event on the calendar (globally or per event)
– add multiple organizers for events
– quick support replies
– build your custom layout shortcodes with ease.
– user submitted events is built in and not an expensive add on.
My only complaint is the booking / ticketing customer flow is a little clunky.

Cool plugin
]]>Rating: 3 stars
I bought the pro version for my client.
At first, cool features in theory. Calendar, booking system, plugins and so on.
Wordpress backend is good. Everyone can use it after reading some docs.
-> Please lower the brightness of the blue color. Sometimes its really hard to read.
Cool designs in general. I guess the best out there in my opinion. Also the functionality.
But, I wanst expecting this bad code base. Like from 2010? My IDE runs creazy by all these warnings and errors.
In the following: “Shortcode” is a frontend feature like countdown and so on
There are a lot translation problems. -> Please just translate things you know and keep the rest in english.
In 6.4.2 a critical bug which prevents everyone from booking. So people without IT support loose money right after this update. Just an example for weak testing. (Cache Class, maybe check for unique cache keys, search for rememberOnce function usages)
Frontend for visitors:
Most font sizes are 14px. WTF Try this with safari on mobile. *facepalm* -> should be 16 at least.
If you disable asset loading globally or load assets to the footer, your styles get overwritten for sure, but even the own plugin color settings. Take a look at the booking button. Its green…always.
If you add more than one shortcode to a site, make sure its in the same width context. Meaning that if you add a shortcode to a sidebar and to the main content, every shortcode is limited to the sidebar width. Thats an JS bug. You do not differ multiple instances for responsive check.
Another problem in the same context, every shortcode uses the color of the first shortcode which was included.
Some weird usability things you can override with an extra template. But its weird.

Cannot edit Elementor’s Image Slider Element, when the Plugin is installed (Version 6.4.2). Get the following error message:
Uncaught Error: noUiSlider (13.0.0): ‘start’ option is incorrect.
Beside this problem, this is an excellent calendar.

It was a 100% good Site experience in Google Search Console until i install this plugin.
Now…. It’s better if i don’t write it.
The plugin filled all of my pages with slow js files. Why not enough only on the event pages???

I bought the MEC plug-in last week as I wanted an integrated plug-in for two websites.
Initially I experienced some difficulty with activating the license, and made contact with Alex at Webnus, who own the Plug-in. He was fantastic in assisting me to resolve the issue and went way beyond the call of duty, helping me install and set it up. Nothing was too much trouble and what began as a slightly frustrating beginning became an excellent experience.
And the MEC plug-in is fantastic – it looks good, has all the key elements you could want and has support videos that make it user friendly. I’d highly recommend it.

Hello,
if there are multiple dates with multiple addresses, it only displays the main address ! So the plugin gives a false information to the customer. It’s TERRIBLE !
If you choose to hide the address, this important information is missing, it’s also terrible for the UX : the customer could click on a link he’s not interested in cause too far from his location and leave the website.
So please make possible to assign one address to one specific date.
Many bugs, does not use my default font, breaks CSS styles, a pain in the ass to get something not ugly and functional.
Thanks,
Nicolas.

after installing the latest version (4.4.0), the media library search stopped working.. When you disable the plugin file search works fine

I bought the pro version for my client. They are only providing the current version. You will not be able to update that once you bought the pro version. only free version has all the perks. Just for few features this is not worth it. If they are not going to provide you newer version in the pro than this is just waste of money.
I would not recommend you buying PRO version at all.
No boudbt the plugin it self has great features but what is the perk of buying the pro version if you will be stuck with same old version of the plugin.
They don’t even replay about your issue, that is more frustrating.

This plugin has such beautiful and varied methods for presenting events to potential audiences that it deserves 5 stars even though some of the backend processes need some improvement. But it’s all about selling the event and MEC’s front end does that so well that you can forgive and work around the little shortcomings.
The support team is highly responsive, especially when you go Pro. And the development team are on the ball too – I found an issue one morning, reported it, and it was patched the following morning.
