I have a large informational website with well over 100 long pages, hundreds of internal links, many images, and a complex menu structure. My format does not lend itself to out-of-the-box mobile themes.
I was facing the unpleasant prospect of rebuilding the entire site on a responsive theme. I am a writer, not a programmer, so this would have taken me a long time that I’d rather put into adding content. I also would have spent several hundred dollars hiring a WordPress developer to set up and customize the new mobile-responsive theme.
A friend with a site far larger than mine recommended Duda — the paid version. Within a few hours, with a little tweaking, a had a functional, not-bad-looking mobile site up and running. I upgraded from the $10/month version to the lifetime subscription for $159. Since my site generates substantial ad revenues, the price is trivial. For others, this could be a stumbling block.
The solution is far from perfect. The drag-and-drop editor is a little buggy. The “edit” view does not always match the “preview” view, which can be frustrating. E-Commerce does not work (I sell a couple of downloads on the original site). Help pages rarely address issues I’ve had and e-mail support has been spotty.
On the positive side, the pre-set templates work well. With less than a day’s work, I was able to modify the site template and individual pages to look pretty good. I replaced some plug-in elements that did not work — such as contact forms and “share this site” with free Duda add-ons, which work well.
Also my AdSense ads work perfectly and were easy to format and place where I wanted on the Duda template. Mobile page views now account for 40% of my traffic, but only 12% of revenue, as mobile CTRs are pretty lousy. On the other hand, mobile ad revenue paid for my life-time subscription in less than a month.
Bottom line: I now have functional and reasonably attractive mobile site that updates in real time with no input from me. Duda is in this game for the long haul and adds new add-on features regularly. I am hopeful that some of the editing bugs will get fixed over time. I do very well now in Google’s mobile search ranking. I’m very happy to go back to writing and can forget about responsive site design until something better comes along.

Spent four days working with this product. While the mobile builder is fine on a pc with the exception of their “location” feature, their wordpress plugin and redirects that they provide do not work! I contacted customer support and they did respond but said, “ok, so our wordpress plugin isn’t working (I think it doesn’t work for most based on the reviews I see here), put this code in your header.php file and change your CNAME records.” I did both correctly and the redirect code that customer support provided didn’t work and now my website has been inaccessible for days via mobile or tablet. Also, my website being down has affected my rankings. I had paid for the premium account – they don’t have a number to call! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. I don’t trust toptenreviews.com reviews anymore based on this experience.

Somehow this thing installed itself on one of my domains and caused that domain to redirect to another of my domains when I made some changes at GoDaddy. Since then I have been trying to get correct whatever this piece of junk has done to my websites. Since I never installed it, I couldn’t just deactivate it. I contacted Duda, they said they corrected the problem on their end, but the problem still existed, so I called GoDaddy, they said everything was okay there. I checked my htacess files and my index files, but I found no references to Duda or any mobile redirect. So, I installed Duda (I know, really, really stupid). Then instead of one site redirecting to the other, the problem changed. Now the site that redirected goes to a page that says pageok and the other site, that does not have Duda on it now redirects to a Duda version of it. This App should be outlawed by WordPress !!

I spend over around 4-5 hours creating my mobile side and then when I went to publish the site it offered 10 pages free!!! MY TIME is non-refundable. Tell me from clearly show me from the beginning that I would have to pay that much!!!! SAVE EVERYONE TIME AND FRUSTRATION!!!! VERY ANGRY!!!!

A really brilliantly designed plugin, but after spending 4 hours customising my mobile website, it only then told me that I would need to pay a monthly subscription fee if I wanted it to be add free and have more than 10 pages … It would be helpful to know this upfront!

I must admit the mobile product version for my site looked nice, but then I started seeing that you had to pay for for many of the options. It’s turns out their “Free” version is basically a stripped down version of a product they are selling. To me, this comes across more as a demo to me than actually “Free.” Since they did show me a nice looking mobile version site they developed through their main product, I decided to see how much it would be for the full version. I thought that it might be offered as a single priced product. No, it wasn’t. It turns out that you must pay them each month. If I recall correctly, it was about $8 a month.
Our group website is basically a non-revenue site, so we can’t afford paying this amount over the future years to come.Anyway, as soon as I saw that never ending payment, I knew that I might as well stop messing with this plugin, so I immediately deactivated and uninstalled it… I’m currently looking for something else that is actually free, or at a more reasonable price. I look at having a mobile version of a site as a nicety, but a necessity. I think the developer might not see that. Perhaps this mobile plugin developer may be aiming more towards the high end WordPress website owners, and not towards the majority of people that can’t afford to continuously pay a monthly fee, and that’s a shame. I feel that if they want to charge for their product, that they might gain even more by having a small flat price and having more users of their product. Sort like making more money through volume, than having a smaller group of users that pay all of the time. That’s just my opinion.
Being a demo product caused it to lose one or two stars. When I saw how much that it would cost over the years it dropped all of the stars. The only reason that it has one star is because it did actually look nice.

If you are looking for a FREE mobile plugin for WordPress this is NOT it! There is also a major issue here because this is the first plugin I’ve ever used that actually redirected me to the company’s website and from there tried to proffer more things at me for $$$ while offering to build my mobile site.
This “plugin” is one hair short of a scam and shame on WordPress for not filtering this kind of thing out of their list of available plugins.

I guess you could call it free, if you want all the ads to junk up your blog theme and run your visitors off. They might as well do away with the “Free” version. As a matter of fact they should be suspended from here for false claims.

The ‘Free’ plugin version is a joke: full of adds.
But I actually bought a one year plan, cause I wanted a quick solution to a mobile version of my site.
Looking back it was totally insane and absurd to pay $9 per month or $7.2 for the annual plan. I pay €1.15 for my excellent EU web-hosting, so why would I pay another $7.2 to host a mobile version at dudas?!
And yes it’s full of bugs and in the end it drove me nuts so I had to cancel.
Something else; when you sign up to the yearly plan you can only accept automatic rebilling. And if you like me cancel before, let say after 3 months, your site is returned right away to a free very limited version with ads, so you lose your 9 months payment.
It’s absurd.

It’s a con. Don’t understand where all the 5 star reviews are coming from, I’m guessing from the Duda dudes themselves…

I’ve used this on a number of WordPress sites and it works great. Just make sure you have the right URL typed in and when you install the Dudamobile plugin, it links up right away and goes active.

It is only free if your site is only 10 pages. Sure it is easy to set up, but who would trust a company that has you set up and then pops the surprise that it costs $7.00 PER MONTH….just wait, the price goes up and you are rather trapped. I would rather pay a flat rate price any day than a price that goes on and on for ever.

This is no different to various websites that offer ‘mobile’ versions of sites for a price.
You get a maximum of 10 pages with advertising on it for free. To be of any use you have to upgrade and pay monthly.
Also you don’t create your mobile site through your WP Admin, instead you are redirected to their site.
Not worth downloading at all. Don’t waste your time.

Duda Mobile by itself is not bad of a plugin. What I had a MAJOR problem with is that they install their ad banner even on your regular site.
OK, so it make sense that if I am using the free version to test things out, their ad is in the mobile site (since this is what this plugin is doing for me). NOPE! They add it to your main homepage and it immediately makes your site looks cheap.
Soon as one of my worker told me about the ad, I had the plugin deactivated. The ad still stays on. I finally try to delete it. And the ad still stays on the homepage. I tried to look up their support for removing the ad, and they say it’s only for people who upgrade (what about people who don’t want to use the plugin anymore?!)
Horrible. It is because of the invasive nature of this plug-in that I have lost trust and confidence in this. I would STRONGLY discourage anyone installing this plug in. There are plenty of other mobile ones that do not do this kind of tricky ad tactic.

They try to hide up front the fact that your mobile site will be infested with ads and hosted on their website, with their address. To get the premium costs around 9 bucks a month! so you cant just pay once and be done with it…
They let you design your mobile site and only after that do you find out about the ads and premium costs…
The mobile designer is pretty good however.

Nice customization that is OUTSIDE of your wordpress site. Monthly subscription is kind of crazy. You’d be better off buying a commercial plug-in if you’re more hands-on.
