Hi There, I had an interesting request from a client which I think would make for a great improvement to this plugin:
It would be nice to be able to sort items using this plugin by certain criteria:
Alphabetically by post title, numerically by either a date field or a custom post field.
Use case:
A realtor is looking to sort their 300 listings by price but they need to shift just a few listings around. They would just sort by custom numeric field price, descending, and then they would drag the listings around they need to custom sort.
This cannot be achieved that easily via custom query and primary and secondary sorting since the pricing and menu orders are unique. Hope this request makes sense.
Keep up the great work otherwise!
A.

I just added a post today, but predated the post such that it should appear as December 2019, and appear first in the list and descend by date as that would be preferable.
However after setting the publish date to December 2019, and expecting it to be at the top of the news ( blog posts), it didn’t happen that way.
Oct 2019 appears at the top, with December several posts below that.
What am i doing wrong here?
thanks in advance
After updating WordPress to latest 5.9, the reordering of posts stopped working. On doing drag&drop, the following Javascript error shows up in the console:

Seems to be related to the update of jqueryui to 1.13.0. Meanwhile jquery 1.13.1 was released, which fixes two issues of sortable.
Wordpress already has taken care of this issue and as announced here, should be fixed with the upcoming WordPress 5.9.1
]]>I am using Reorder Posts somewhat successfully. The database is updated and my front-end plugins display the reordering properly. Unfortunately the admin Reorder section associated with the post type (a custom category wplp_link) does not properly display the current order from the database. Any ideas why this is?
Basically, the ordering in the admin section always goes back to some default ordering. I thought it might be because the category includes ‘link’ – also the plugin settings remove the reorder option from the Admin panel for these posts when I turn of ‘Links’.

]]>Hello, I use your plugin to reorder a custom post type on a website.
Reordering seems to not be working correctly after the 5.6.1 update, when I issue a reorder, the process seems to hang. When I get back to the reordering menu, all my posts have been randomly reordered.
Could you please check if is this an issue with the plugin it self?

]]>Hi, when someone reorders posts, I’d like to automatically clear the site’s page cache for the post type archive, so that the new order is visible. I have code to clear the right page from cache, I just need to hook it to something.
Does the plugin fire an action that I can hook into when posts are reordered? Or does the reordering cause any standard WordPress actions to fire that I can use?
Thanks.
]]>Will this plugin allow reordering the resulting posts on the front end?
I will list posts through a custom post type wp_query
Hello, when ordering the post I get the following message:
There are over 21,149 posts found. We do not recommend you sort these posts for performance reasons.
I really do not need to reorder everyone. With the first 100 I would arrive . Is there a way to order the first 100, so that it does not take so many minutes to sort the 21k records?
Or some alternative that you recommend to me?
Thank you very much for your time and for the plugin
]]>Hello,
I am in charge of a site that uses wordpress, and buddypress. When someone receives a message, the old ones appear at the top and the recent at the bottom. When the page contains several messages, you lose time scrolling down the page each time before reading the most recent message. Is there a way to change the order of messages please? Thank you in advance.

]]>Hi
I see the order of my cpt posts are changing on the front end when I reorder a post in the Reorder list (wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=news&page=reorder-news). So thats good!
But the Reorder list is listed alphabetically initially.
Not by date, as in the CPT edit list (wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=news)
Can I edit the plugin somewhere to make this change. I.e list the Reorder list by date when I activate the plugin. Maybe it will it be practical to use then. Basically I want to display posts by date, but keep the ability to override that order.

Thanks!
]]>Hi,
We were using reorder posts with the WP REST API plugin. Now that the api is built in to wordpress, the posts endpoint does not accept an orderby value of menu_order. Is there a way to fix this?

]]>Hi! One thing above all: what about multilingual websites made with Polylang plugin?
Especially when on backoffice one is filtering posts by language (as usual).
It it possible to reorder on a per-language basis?
And if yes, will doing it on some other languare screw up the overall orderings or will the plugin take into account and preserve the per-language ordering?
Thank you, regards

]]>Hi,
a custom get_posts query won’t work with the plugin activated. I have installed the plugin which works great except it messes with custom code I am writing.
What I want to do is showing a random post and the latest post. This won’t work except when I disable the plugin.
Do you have any suggestions?
$args = array( ‘numberposts’ => ‘1’, ‘orderby’ => ‘rand’ );
$posts = get_posts( $args );
foreach( $posts as $post ){
setup_postdata( $post );
**** CODE HERE *****
wp_reset_postdata();
}
Great plugin! Do you think you could add a search functionality that finds a post and filters the list so that post is in the middle of the returned results? The idea is that if you have a lot of posts ( 100’s or 1000’s ) you can still reorder one quickly by searching for it.
Also, perhaps a “send to top” or “send to bottom” button on / near each box if you just want a post to the first one but don’t want to drag it all the way up if there are a lot?
]]>Great plugin, but can I disable the pagination? My customer wants to move a post on page2 to page3, but I dont’t see a way to accomplish this. Thanks!
