Error: “App not active” message displayed on Facebook, when trying to authorize the plugin with a business account

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install the plugin
2. Go to “Meks Instagram Settings” page
3. Click “Authorize with Instagram”
4. Select “Business” when asked what profile type you’d like to authorize

Actual result: You’ll get redirected to Facebook and see the error message.

Expected result: successful authorization process.

The process to get the token as has been followed with due care. I have received the token, but it won’t get passed this stage.

The plugin was working great but since few days the Insta API connection broke down ant when we try to re-authorize it via the admin we get an error like in the screenshot below.

I tried to roll-back to a previous version of the plugin but I get the same error.

Any ideas ?

Error when client tries to authorize the plugin while logged into Instagram.

Meks Easy Photo Feed Widget (formerly Meks Easy Instagram Widget) has stoped working on my site. I see a lot of people are asking about it, but no one has found a solution. or the plugin has not been updated for fix this.

I went to the page where I had the Instagram feed set to. I see Instagram at the top with no images.
I have looked into the google developers console and i can see 10 errors coming through
the errors are :

Specify a more permissive Cross-Origin Resource Policy to prevent a resource from being blocked
Your site tries to access an external resource that only allows same-origin usage. This behavior prevents a document from loading any non-same-origin resources which don’t explicitly grant permission to be loaded.
To solve this, add the following to the resource’s HTML response header:
Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy: same-site if the resource and your site are served from the same site.
Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy: cross-origin if the resource is served from another location than your website. ??If you set this header, any website can embed this resource.

What does this mean?
Basically loading data from another site “in this case Instagram” is been blocked as it’s not from the same origin as your server.

I have found some snippets of code you need to add to your .htaccess file.

* this is a wildcard say you are allowed to load data from any website, this is a security risk as it could be used for hacking. So now I need to figure out how to add domains I want to allow. EG instagram

After deleting my website still shows the error: Required plugin “Meks Easy Photo Feed Widget” is required. Meks Easy Photo Feed Widget (formerly Meks Easy Instagram Widget) v 1.2.3 doesn’t work any more.

After my site updated to the latest version 1.2.3 the website broke and I return a Fatal Error. I have temporarily disabled the plugin awaiting further news from developer. When the plugin is disabled, the website does recover so am hoping you can provide a fix, otherwise will have to make de-activation permanent – look forward to hearing from you.

Hey guys, i have changed my url address, everything works fine except for the instagram widget in footer – its connected to my ig account, it hovers my posts descriptions, but the images wont show.
If you have any idea how to solve it, id be so grateful!

No images are displayed anymore unless a large number is entered for the “Widget container size” setting (the original Instagram images are displayed in this case).

I have installed the plugin and click to Authorize Instagram. After clicking the Authorize button in Instagram it returns to wordpress page, but shows me that I don’t have permissions to see the page and I can’t finish this step.

The callback url is: https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page#access_token=XXX

Is not a help request. Is a contribution. A tip to have square boxes when images are not square.

Defaults values to display are:
‘title’ => ‘Instagram’,
‘username_hashtag’ => ”,
‘photos_number’ => 9,
‘columns’ => 3,
‘photo_space’ => 1,
‘container_size’ => 300,
‘transient_time’ => DAY_IN_SECONDS,
‘link_text’ => __( ‘Follow’, ‘meks-easy-instagram-widget’ ),

If you move the values to display an instance the formula to calculate the container_size is:

( $container_size – ( $photo_space * ( $columns – 1 ) ) ) / $columns )

Using the defaults:

( 300 – ( 1 * ( 3-1 ) ) ) / 3 ).

Image width: 99.333

The smaller image from instagram small size is 150px.

If images on the feed does not have a square proportion the grid is horrible. To solve this i add this styles on tag using plugin editor. Take it easy, dont feel afraid, you can reinstall the plug in if you break this.

1. Select Meks easy instagram widget.
2. Select and open widget_html.php under views section
3. Searc <img tag
4. Replace the line for this:

” alt=”<?php echo esc_attr( $photo[‘caption’] ); ?>” style=”object-fit: cover; max-height: min-content; height: <?php echo absint( $instance[‘container_size’]/$instance[‘columns’] ); ?>px; width: <?php echo absint( $instance[‘container_size’]/$instance[‘columns’] ); ?>px;”>

This will change the grid view to square images fitting the image, all with same width and height.

Is important to notice that is not responsive but you can change the flex flow to fix it.

I’m getting an error with this plugin. All settings are correct even the Instagram Auth token. But I’m still getting this error: Instagram has returned empty data. Please authorize your Instagram account in the plugin settings.

Wordpress version 5.2.3
Plugin version: 1.1

Upgraded from 1.0.4

Downgrading to 1.0.4 give the following error:
– Instagram has returned invalid data.

Any suggestions?

Latest update created long loading time 20 sec +.
When i disabled it, sitespeed was normal again.
I still have the old version on another side, works fine.
