This is a very good plug-in, but I encountered a bug. When uploading files on a computer, I can press and hold ctrl/command to select multiple photos for uploading at one time, but when I use it on a mobile phone, I can only select one I can’t select multiple photos directly at one time. I hope it can be improved as soon as possible.

I have removed rtMedia from the theme as it was in conflict with many plugin and scripts and I have installed this own. It works perfectly and uploading a video it’s possible to count the views (and many other options).
Said that, what is necessary to know about BuddyDev is their TOP EXCELLENT SUPPORT for customer that buy the yearly support included in the full serie of plugin (it’s impossible to imagine to build a Buddypress social network without at least 10 of their plugin).
I STRONGLY recommend to use this plugin and the excellent support they provide to any Buddypress website developer.

The best gallery plugin!
Would love to have more bbPress / BuddyPress related option, though, especially being able to let members directly upload images inside topics.

I installed and tried out the plugin and it was great. Nicely done. I liked the separation of the galleries into photo, audio, video and docs. The separate privacy
options for groups, private and site wide were well done.
Unfortunately, categories are the search mechanism we use so we will need to go down another path for our galleries. Good luck with your work.
Also I could not find Google Viewer terms and conditions. There doc viewer sends the document through a google site and they do love to collect data. You may want to add some comforting words to you advertising on what Google does with documents once they display them.

If you happen to be using BuddyPress, this plugin is a good fit. If you’re not using BuddyPress, your users won’t be able to upload. MediaPress lacks the ability to look at your WP user list and automatically create a gallery accordingly. This is not made clear in the description. I spent a lot of time finding this out.

The first media plugin I used in combination with BuddyPress was rtMedia, since it had more active installs. After spending several weeks trying to iron out the various issues with rtMedia, some of which could be resolved but some that could not be resolved, I decided to try MediaPress. After some customisation I soon realised that I had made the right decision. For my needs, MediaPress is the better media solution of the two plugins that I had tried.
MediaPress is very flexible. Customising MediaPress is easy, with a simple-to-use template system that you can add your own things to.
Also, the support given is excellent. The plugin author, Brajesh, is very helpful and gives a great level of support.
I highly recommend using MediaPress to handle media within a BuddyPress site.

I tried out a few and this one worked great for what I wanted to do with my site. I can use galleries for members, groups, and have a site page for all of the uploaded galleries. Very neat. The base install has a nice set of features and it doesn’t seem too greedy or segmented like some of the other BuddyPress Media solutions. The interface is easy to learn and use. There are some translations that aren’t perfect, but everything is still pretty clear. The developer has some very nice plugins for BuddyPress and seems to have contributed quite a lot of software for it. I’d check those out as well on their site.

I have tested a lot of media solutions for buddypress and I think that Mediapress is the best one.
What I like:
-it’s simple to use and works well in my installation.
-it can handle many types of media (photo, video, audio, document) with many extensions for each type. You can even share documents.
-it is extensible
-it has buddypress integration (profile and groups)
-it has space management and this feature can be customized with a plugin
-it has privacy levels
-it supports commenting and you can also add liking
-it is lightweight (tested with P3 Profiler)
-it is translation ready now
-the support is quick and excellent.
What I don’t like:
I don’t like google reader for documents. I have privacy concerns about Google generally. With the doc component, you can share ebooks but I don’t recomment it for sharing personal or business documents (for example with friends or collaborators).
What I suggest:
-adding linking for external ressources (youtube, vimeo etc)
-add type Projects (I will post a feature request soon)

Have tested almost all of the other media “solutions” for BuddyPress.
For the most part they are all very good and are by respected developers.
But i really think that this one is the very best of them.
Simple to use and is likely to be continously updated as Brajesh appears to be very heavily committed to BuddyPress.
Handled pdf, png, docx, xls, xlsx and these opened on the site in their group!
Media handling was identified as the major “desired feature” in the last Mercime survey and I genuinely think that this plugin is going to be THE ONE.
While I have yet to examine privacy, and uploaded docs could possibly retain their title this plugin thoroughly deserves 5 stars and more,
