Searching with this will use all resources and cripple your site. Don’t install this. Developer doesn’t update this.

I’ve noticed that a few other users on the support pages have reported that this plugin, which hasn’t been updated for the last two years, no longer works as intended. In fact, it breaks the media library search functionality completely. I can attest to this.
This is very unfortunate as the functionality that this plugin seemingly used to provide would be very useful to me.

I find this plugin really convenient because I name my media files only with alphabets, but I write the alternative text in my non-alphabetical language. After the installation, I can search both titles and ALT text.
Also, it is a plus that it needs no set-up.
I am really grateful to the developer for creating and maintaining this useful plugin.

I had problems with finding in media library search the images that I have added in the passed few years, searching them with the file name wasn’t working at all.. till I installed this plugin, things start to work and I don’t have anymore this problem! Great job! Thanks.

This plugin was essential for my photoblog and its thousands of media library files. How else could I ever expect to find what I was looking for?

Does what it says on the box. Love it.

The functionality is a must have. I don’t understand why it is not implemented in WordPress by default. It works very well on my WordPress 4.6.3 except that… the sorting column functionality of WordPress doesn’t work correctly anymore when your extension is activated. In the Media lib, I click on “Title” or “Date” column headers and the result is not all consistent.
I hope you’ll get this review and fix the issue.
Thank you.

I tested this plugin and for media that few words in the title, it fails to find them.
For example, if my media name is my_media_file.jpg and I search for “my media”, this plugin does not find it. While wordpress without this plugin is finding it fine.
Would be happy to change my review once this is fixed.

I’m rebuilding a site that used a Gallery CPT with no image titles. This plugin allowed me to rebuild the galleries by searching by file name. Works perfectly.

Works perfectly.
I can now search gallery captions.
Is there a way I can include the search in my footer area as a widget or something?
I would also like to decrease the length of the search bar.

In a few seconds, after uploading and activating the plugin, I found the image I was looking for using the filename from “filename.jpg”

I’ll second the motion that this should be part of WordPress core! #getitdone

It is definitely one of the best simple, powerful and easiest search plugin for wordpress. It should be included as a part of WP core.
Yoren has done a fantastic job.. Thanks a lot for this wonderful plugin.

Begs the question, why is this not part of core? Search for images in the standard media library is a pain in the proverbial!

Yoren I have uploaded audio file by ftp to my HTML_Public/makotosbeat/WP-content/uploads/07/file.wav, but it does not appear in my library. Will this plugin help me to register the file with the Media library so i can see it in WordPress?
Using:
BlueHost as Host
osx 10.8.5
WP 4.2.2

After learning I could search my Media Library by keyword if I filled in the Alt Text field on each photo, I was disappointed to see that the default Media Library view did not include the ability to see my Alternative Text field. This plugin allowed me to do that which has made me SO happy! Now I can quickly and easily see if I’ve forgotten to add an Alt Text field to any photos, or quickly decide whether to add any additional keywords. Thank you!

I installed and it breaks my search.

This should definitely be in WordPress Core. Thank you plugin author for making this!

Very simple plugin that does the job.
Update?:?my media search was broken and I did not know why (there was no found when I tried a search) – since some years. I just read on a blog that this plugin fixes the problem and that’s true. Great.

Excellent ! Quick, simple, no setup, just works transparently !
I keep the original JPG number (IMG_1234) from my camera in the filename, and this little plugin allows me to search for that.
Thanks, guys for making this.

Took me a while to find this plugin but I am glad I did. I don’t know why WordPress doesn’t have this included by default. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

This plugin helps you to get a grip on the chaotic mediathek.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I installed this plugin last month, and it works great. With several hundred items in my Media Library, I don’t always remember the name of my file. By being able to search through all the fields, I’m able to find images by ALT text.
