Should the search work with multiple search terms? I think it used to, but not anymore.
]]>I’m using Media Library Assistant to insert tags to my media files and your plugin for search. In search results tags show, but clicking any goes to an empty page site.net/attachment_tag/the_tag/ Is it possible to make it work so that clicking a tag would display media files that have that tag?
]]>Hi @1fixdotio,
Your plugin’s page says “Tested up to 5.2.17”.
Do you plan on releasing a version compatible with WordPress 6? (6.1.1 at the time of writing)
Thank you.

]]>Hi,
I have installed this plugin but I have also installed the plugin “Pages In Widgets”. What is plugin do is adding the content of a WordPress page as content in a Widget.
The problem is that Media Search Enhanced is also replacing the content of this type of widget. I have tried to changed a bit the code of the plugin and the problems seems to be in the function “posts_clauses”.
If I add for example echo “Hello” inside this function, it’s added on the search results, but also inside the Widgets of type “Pages In Widget”.
I suppose we could fix this by adding some conditions in the “if” of the “posts_clauses” function, but I don’t which one. Can you help me please ?
Thank you.
]]>Wordpress admin Media search is not working. I have installed Media Search Enhanced plugin but it is also not working.
]]>The plugin description says it adds these search parameters:
> Search through all fields in Media Library, including: ID, title, caption, alternative text and description.
My experience is that WordPress core already includes title, caption, and description in the search. Maybe it didn’t when this plugin was last updated — and the plugin does still add unique features, such as ID and alternative text. But if there is indeed overlap, maybe the plugin could be updated to be more streamlined and avoid any conflict or redundancy.
]]>Media Search Enhanced produces no results at all. I’m using the Quest theme at mlabethelks.org
You can see on the main page there’s the media search box but nothing comes up. Try for example searching “oil” in the normal WP search box at the upper right. It returns some result.
If you try searching “oil” in the media search box, you get no results.
Why doesn’t this work as documented?
]]>Hi,
Its a great plugin. I just installed it and pasted a short code on a page, and search lists the image file name as a result page.
I was wondering If I’d be able to display image thumbnails with lightbox. If Yes, what should I do? I already have a lightbox plugin installed.
Lightbox plugin name is: https://www.dfactory.eu/plugins/responsive-lightbox/
Please assist. Thank you.

]]>It would be great, if this plugin could be able to search in “Uploaded to” parameter as well.
]]>Yoren,
Thank you for your very useful media search plugin!
I want to use it for a non-profit site which allows members to only edit their own media so it makes sense to limit a media search to just their own media as well.
I added some code in function “posts_clauses()” to test for non-admin, then added the post_author to the SQL. It works, but I do not think I should modify someone else’s plugin.
Is it possible you could add a “user media only” option to your plugin?
]]>Hello. I loved your plugin, it is very useful.
And here’s another extra way in which it could help even more:
That if you search for: IMAGE 23, it retrieves all occurrencies, not only for the image tagged as IMAGE 23 and image-23.jpg, but also the files named image_23.*, image-23.* and image%2023.* . Because sometimes end users may type the filenames differently and then making impossible to find the right images. Is this possible for you to add to the search logic?
Thanks in advance!
]]>Hi,
I have question about plugin.
I’ve insert it by shortcode in “normal” WordPress page and it works perfectly, that was plugin what i was looking for.
But:
When I insert it by php function:
<?php echo do_shortcode('[mse-search-form]');?>
It sometimes is working sometimes is not. For example I put this code in “Search result” I want to put search form again when someone didn’t find photo what was looking for.
When You are searching from normal wordpress page links goes for:
example.com/?s=SEARCHTEXT&post_type=attachment
But when you put another text using Search Engine on mentioned above Search Results page, link goes for:
example.com/?post_type=attachment&post_type=attachment
Is there any option to make it works?
]]>Hello! Thank you for the plugin! Excellent work. But, suddenly, more recently, it began to give out only 15 images in the search results.
Do not tell what might happen? How to fix it?
Hi Yoren,
Thanks for this wonderful plugin. Is there any way:-
1. Image ALT/Caption can be placed below the image rather than above.
2. The grid size/image thumbnails size/Cropping size of the image in search result page can be controlled.
Thank you,
Ari
Great plugin!
One thing I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t seem to work when used in conjunction with the file type filters included in wordpress…
Example:
I have a bunch of files in the media library, and I search for “soil” which returns accurately with all files with “soil” in the file name, title, etc.
But then if I try to further narrow my search using the filters drop down, so that it only shows PDFs, it doesn’t work. It ignores that filter…
Also, if I start with the filter, and then do a search, the search results override the filter and show all files with the search term.
If I deactivate the plugin, I can search & filter together no problem.
Thoughts?
]]>Hi and thanks for this great plugin.
When i seach for an image (in this case “prova.jpg”, description/alt text: “immagine di prova”) i get the right thumb but just up the thumb i get this message:

]]>I’m using another plugin to add a separate tag taxonomy to my photos (WordPress Media Tags), and everything works great except for one thing. It might be beyond the scope of this plugin, but could you make it so that searching two different tags works? In other words I’ve tagged a photo with John and Sally. Can you make it so that searching “John Sally” brings it up?

]]>HI, I’ve installed this version of media search and I have pictures with titles and additional description – but I have no search results…
and no idea what’s happen… ??
]]>Yoren,
I have a couple of questions for you:
1. I’m using your shortcode in a page to offer an image search and it is working but I’d like the results to include the full size image instead of the thumbnail.
2. In the results, the one thing that is missing is a link to the original full article. Many people would want to read the article that the photo appeared in. This would also allow people to get the photographer’s name to avoid copyright problems.
Can you please explain how to do these things? Thanks!
Bryan
]]>Hello Yoren,
First of all thanks a lot for this awesome plugin. Have a quick question.
I am having Lightbox image display in my site. When I used this plugin and do a search,I can find the images but when I clicked them, it is going to “Individual Attachment Page” rather than displaying it in lightbox.
Is there anyway lightbox display functionality can be implemented for Search images also. Please suggest.
Regards,
Ari
Hi, I love your plugin and I also use it in a multilingual webs with the WPML plugin.
The only problem is that when using WPML media plugin ( https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/ ) which effectively duplicates the media objects in the database, searching with your plugin activaded shows the images duplicated. If there are 5 languages, it shows 5 times each.
But the search works well with your plugin deactivated.
It’s not a big problem, but a minor one, since all duplicated images points to the same media object.
I know for a fact the team behind WPML are very friendly and are always eager to help and fix this kind of compatibility issues with third party plugins, giving the developers all they need.
Let me know if you need any more info from me or something.
thank you very much
]]>Hello, a quick question.
I have quite a big Publications Library (PDFs mostly). I would need the visitors of my page to be able to find certain PDFs by typing into a Search Field. Is this possible with this plugin or is it only back end?
Also, if that were possible, is there any way to disable some of the media files from the search (ie I only want people to be able to search for PDFs, not my Logo images, etc.)
Thank you!!
]]>Hi,
In your Changelog you mentioned in version 0.5.2 of your plugin that it will display thumbnails in the media search results. I have installed 0.5.4 and I am not seeing the thumbnails for the images showing up. See: https://thelivingsea.com/images/misc/search-results.jpg
Could you tell me if this is an issue with the plugin or my theme?
On a separate note, it would be nice if your plugin could be integrated into one with the standard WordPress search so it is not only limited to searching media files, but the whole web site, too.
Thank you for putting together this great plugin. I greatly appreciate it.
]]>I thought plugin was broken, when I did a search for a filename I knew was there in media list. No results.
I switched from list to grid, and the search worked fine – wonderful in fact, found partial matches and everything!
So very weird it didn’t work in list, just grid.
Any thoughts?
]]>This plugin conflicts with the JSON REST API (WP Api). Seeing as how the WP API may very likely and is scheduled to be, incorporated into core, you may want to check you echoing and printing to find where you are conflicting with the headers.
]]>I tried inserting the new shortcode into a page and it does work but it wasn’t what I expected. It produces a list of topic titles, but I’d like to see it generate thumbnails of all the matching images.
It’s very difficult to find anything when you just get topic titles. You have to open each topic individually and look though it, and since I have 15,000+ topics and 50,000+ images you can see that there has to be a better approach to searching images.
I know my readers would love a simple search to show all the matching
images of their favorite celebrity, for example.
Thanks for your consideration!
]]>Great plugin! Very useful!
So, I was thinking it would be great if this plugin, in a future version, also searched all associated media post meta as well?
We currently set a single custom meta value for each media file, and would like to include this meta in the admin page media search. We don’t need to see the meta value itself within the search results. But, we do want the resulting search hits.
Else, if someone could suggest a code snippet? The SQL queries in the source are slightly too advanced for me to mess around with on my own. Thanks!
]]>Plugin should have option search by post ID.
It’s useful when somone want search all images attached to post.
