Why did WordPress remove infinite scrolling?

Or is it a bug?!

And thank you so much for bringing infinite scrolling back, a huge blessing!

The plugin requires php 7.4 and my site is on PHP 7.3.5. Can the PHP version requirement be lowered?

Edit: or remove the PHP version requirement?

The infinite scroll works (at least for me) in 5.7 but in 5.8 it has gone. I think your readme may need a minor update
