The Media Hygiene plugin is a fantastic tool for keeping WordPress media library organized and efficient. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to maintain a clean and efficient media library!
There is limitation for sure in Free Version, paid version comes with a lot features and WP Cli features makes process more smooth.
Support staff is also responsive.

As soon as I installed this plugin, all other plugins automatically deactivated, It only detected 10 images in use (from 1800 which are mostly used). After uninstalling I still have the same problem, I can’t activate plugins anymore, specially Cloudflare.

I had high hopes for this plugin but am a little disappointed. I installed it on our client’s content rich site with over 10k posts/pages. After running the initial scan for several hours it froze, and after doing some debugging I found it was erroring while trying to write an extremely large value to a single field in the database. This massive value (almost 40mb) was an aggregation of all the site’s page’s post_content. Looking at the plugin code, it seems the purpose for this is to run a str_contains check over that aggregation of content for the attachment file name value to check if it’s inserted directly into a page.
This approach might work most sites, but it’s not a viable approach for larger sites like ours. Making the plugin unusable for us.
One of the USPs of this plugin is that it claims to smartly search the page and post content for the attachments. That’s why we considered purchasing it. Maybe if they improve this aspect it will be a truly great plugin and we will revisit for our clients.
To the plugin developers: I’d suggest using a batch process to check each attachment file individually with a query like:
SELECT COUNT(id) FROM wp_posts WHERE post_content LIKE '%ATTACHMENT_NAME%';instead of trying to match against all post content at once. It would take longer to execute, but could run in the background and would work for sites like ours.

So it turned out when we were deleting products we weren’t removing images and had 150,000 unused which was too much for any software to manage without falling over and impractical to manually delete. These guys went above and beyond to help, rewriting elements of their work and handholding throughout the process . I can’t thank, or recommend them enough.

I recently tried using a media hygiene tool to help manage a website’s vast array of media files. It was a good starting point but had its limitations. For example, it sometimes marked images as unused that were actually still in use. This meant I had to double-check everything manually to ensure no necessary files were mistakenly deleted.
Even though this process took some extra effort, the tool did help me by narrowing down the list of files to check, which was a real-time saver. However, I’m on the lookout for something a bit more reliable for our next clean-up round.

Free version could not detect the classipress used images – on top of that it limits the delete / limit 10 per page; simple workaround is to open wmh-media-hygiene-view.php, rule 44 and change 10 into 200;
$limit = $per_page = 200;
With that you are able to manually select more images then just the limited 10 – obvious push to the pro version which holds one licence per website. Kind of ackward knowing there’s 50 sites to be cleaned up (once). I guess it does what it does but the detection for the free version lacks.

Media Hygiene is an amazing tool. We were able to solve our problem with huge amounts of unused images in our WordPress media library.
This has positively impacted our backups and reduced the amount of time to make them.
I recommend the plugin for its simplicity and effectiveness.

Awesome plugin with awesome customer support. Initially, we used the free plugin and purchased the pro plugin with awesome features. The feature and user experience was just awesome.
If the issues are raised we directly connect with live chat and they will try to resolve them immediately, or else it may take one business day through email support.
It’s not enough to put only 5 star rating, if it has 100 rating option, surely will give 100 out of 100.

I needed to find all unused images on my site, standard WordPress functionality is not enough. I found several plugins, but they didn’t show images attached to the gallery on the page. Then I came across the Media Hygiene plugin and it did just that, it only showed unattached images. Of course to be sure I will check a few of them manually. More on support, I was pleasantly surprised. I first installed the plugin on a test site and everything went great. Then I installed it on the main site and the plugin froze on runtime. Of course I realized it was my configuration, but needed to be sure. Then I wrote to the tech support widget on the site and they answered me very quickly. In the communication we worked out the possible causes. They were quick and helpful in answering me, considering that I had the free version of the plugin. In the end I was able to run the plugin on the main site and find the images I needed. I am very happy with the plugin and the support. Thank you!

The initial scan marks 657 media files remaining out of a total of 850 media files, which is strictly impossible.
It indicates some videos as unused while others located in the same galleries are.
Impossible to rely on these results to delete files at the risk of ending up with a site empty of all images.

I have been building websites for a long time and use to a lots of images in site and at the end of project there are a lot of images unused in media library and using server space. I tried many plugins to find unused images and way to delete but none of them are at perfection level. But Media Hygiene did really a great job compare to other plugins and helped me to save my server space, delete unwanted image and latest update to scan the entire media library to find the images as unused is way much faster. I will be using this plugin in many site in coming day. Keep it up, good job.

Recently I installed this plugin on my two sites, the first one built in DIVI and the second one built in AVADA, this plugin executes flawlessly on both sites and comes up with numerous unused files as a result, those files were going to be deleted, after that, my sites work a little bit smoother. Moreover, the plugin provides adequate statistics and examination to get an idea regarding media. we can move questionable files or media in whitelisted media so they can’t be deleted, which is a satisfactory feature. Overall, I love the plugin and highly recommend it.

So I’ve been able to use this on two websites. One used Elementor and the other was Bricks. The plugin helped me removed almost 200mb of images and I noticed my backups are now a bit faster. The one thing that can be improved is the interface. There is a lot of information to help me understand what is taking up space but it might be too much. I think it is helpful but maybe only show when required or asked.
