After updating WordPress to 4.7.3 Magic Fields 2 Toolkit plugin can’t activate because of fatal error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /…/public_html/wp-content/plugins/magic-fields-2-toolkit/magic-fields-2-toolkit-loader.php on line 41
How can I get it work again?
]]>I have found that the core WordPress function wptexturize() sometimes mangles the attributes of the shortcode mt_field. I have opened a ticket at WordPress. You can read the details there.
]]>The WordPress function shortcode_parse_atts() no longer parses embedded html fragments. So the shortcode
[show_custom_field field="image_media" before="<img src='" after="'>"]
will no longer work as shortcode_parse_atts() will reject the before attribute as it contains an unclosed HTML element.
This is of course a very serious problem that unfortunately I cannot fix since shortcode_parse_atts() is a WordPress core function. I have opened a ticket with WordPress and am hoping they will change shortcode_parse_atts() back to its original behavior.
I sincerely apologize for this problem.

]]>The home page of this plugin is hosted at wordpress.com. Some time after Aug 23, 2015 wordpress.com changed the post processing that it applies to sanitize the HTML before saving. The new algorithm began ignoring some of my HTML escape characters and saving escaped HTML as valid HTML. This has broken many of my examples which by necessity contain HTML. I cannot even restore to an earlier good version since the new post processing is still applied and again ignores the same HTML escape characters and re-mangles the earlier good version into the same mess. For the present it seems it is impossible to restore that site. If you need any help at all please contact me here. I absolutely respond to every request in reasonable time so it will not be a waste of your time. I am not sure what I will do if wordpress.com does not change its post processing. Since, I only have access to the mangled good earlier versions it seems the whole site may need to be rewritten – #####!
]]>Hello! Thanks for a good plugin!
I have one major issue though. When I enable the plugins and create a image media field its breaks wordpress. I cannot get the popup window when I want to choose the image.
Does anyone have this problem and a fix for it?
Thanks!
Mike
]]>Hello,
I’ve recently updated Magic Fields Toolkit to the latest version but my swerver doesn’t have PHP version to 5.4 or later installed so I need an older version that can work with PHP 5.3.
Can you please provide me with a link?
Thanks!
]]>I get an internal server error when i try to activate the plugin. Any ideas what’s wrong?
]]>Hi. Your plugin is such a great enhancement to Magic Fields 2 that I WANT it to work with the latest version of WP. I realize your support ends at 3.7.1 so obviously you can ignore this… however your toolkit is the ONLY performance addon to Magic Fields 2 so there’s nowhere else to turn.
After installing Magic Fields 2 and then installing your plugin, any attempt to trigger an enhancement on the settings page produces the “white screen of death.” Turning on debugging produces this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_USE, expecting T_FUNCTION in /home/user/public_html/wp-content/plugins/magic-fields-2-toolkit/magic-fields-2-dumb-shortcodes-kai.php on line 31.
That line refers to “use Magic_Fields_2_Toolkit_Post_Filters;” The actual error may be around that line or in the post-filter.php file where the Magic_Fields_2_Tookit_Post_Filters trait is declared.
I thought maybe the order of things might have gotten mixed up a bit but moving the “use” statement around just caused more errors, as well as anything else I’ve tried.
I have deactivated, reactivated, deleted and reinstalled all kinds of things to no avail. Perhaps it will simply not work with WP 3.9, and so I’ll go hang myself.
If you notice something obvious, perhaps in the way WP works with objects now, or anything else, please let me know and I’ll give your suggestion(s) a go. Using PHP 5.3
]]>Hello,
First of all I’d like to thank you so much for creating this plug-in. I’ve been looking for a method to delete unused photos uploaded through Magic Fields forever and only now did I stumble upon your plug-in.
I was wondering if it would be possible to include a check box to select all images referenced by “Clean Folder files_mf” on your next update of the plug-in in order to make it easier to delete lots of photos through the interface.
Thanks in advance!
]]>Hello,
After upgrading to wordpress version 3.6 I am getting this error with magic fields 2 toolkit when I am trying to edit or add new custom post type where alt_related_type field is used:
Fatal error: Class ‘alt_related_type_field’ not found in \wp-content\plugins\magic-fields-2\admin\mf_post.php on line 425.
I am using magic fields 2 version 2.1
]]>The file “magic-fields-2-alt-get-audio.php” has extra linefeeds after the last ?>. This is causing AJAX scripts to fail. (AJAX scripts are typically used to provide new partial content to a page without reloading the whole page.) To correct this delete the extra linefeeds at the end of the file “magic-fields-2-alt-get-audio.php” or just disable the “Alt Audio” feature if you are not using it. (I always thought it was ugly to leave unbalanced PHP tags and I thought I would be careful enough to avoid this mistake but now having got burned I have learned my lesson – safety should have precedence over beauty.)
Sorry for causing this trouble,
mc
I have this installed and working as expected for my primary site in a multisite setup, but when I check the network sites — the option isn’t there.
I really need this for a large project I’m working on and am really running out of time to get this fixed. If there is anything I can do to make this go please let me know.
I would GREATLY APPRECIATE the assistance!
Thanks,
Jake
