I have been using and appreciating the simplicity of?m1.DownloadList?since ~2021 but recently noticed that that the pages were being shown with mulitple icons over the the top of the filename. As WordPress had been updated to 6.4.3, I wondered whether that might be the problem. I had checked that it was not browser related and then went back to any other changes. I had installed W3 Total Cache and once that was deactivated the page file listings restored to normal. So there is a conflict and maybe I can workout how to exclude W3 Total Cache from interfering but otherwise, it may have to remain deactivated. However, any thoughts and solutions from any would be appreciated.
Below is that the page looked like before deactivating W3 Total Cache.
I’ve been using m1downloads for ages and have always loved it and how responsive the creator is.
Quick question, is there a way to add a search button to search a particular folder for a word in the title of the file. and even better if it can search text within the file like a word doc.
If not, is it possible to develop this to take the plugin to the next level?

also [m1dll?path=”/mywebsite.com/public_html/edunotes”] and it does not work either
but then when I put [m1dll] is shows a ‘Downloads’ folder that does not exist?

I need to filter filenames before the list is created. Like houndreds of our shift plans (days, weeks, months) end up in the same directory. Instead of excluding filenames i dont want to include in the list, i only want to list files that match a given filename (or part thereof).
So i added the “filenamestartswith” attribute to your code. It enables you to match the filename with a string.
Usage Example:
[m1dll path=”wp-content/uploads/shifts” filenamestartswith=”month”]
This will list only filenames that start with “month” in the given path.

Thank you so much for this plug in – it is absolutely magic! I’ve been using it for years. M1downloads works well on my website. There is one slight snag though.
You get icons for a whole load of file types – like doc, ppt, pdf, png etc.
But why no icons for what are now considered standard files….
docx
rtf
pptx
pps
These are standard file types. You don’t need a new icon. Just use the same one for .doc as docx and rtf. Use the same icon pptx and pps as you have for ppt. Like I said, these are COMMON file types.
My website looks great with all the icons next to the downloads, but it looks a bit “broken” or “unfinished” when there are blank icons for the other common standard file types.
Is this something you could consider? Please.

First: Thank you for an amazing product! I searched high and low for a WordPress plugin that does just this, (lists files within a specified directory which one creates and uploads to via FTP). Three words, Simple and PERFECT!
Second: I’m “hopeful” this plugin will continue to function with new releases of WordPress because it’s exactly what I was looking for and I intend to put it to good use (share .PDF files). My hope is I don’t invest time only to have it suddenly stop working. ??
Third: I attempted to donate to the plugin to offer my support for a great product, but was taken to a page with a different language which I didn’t understand. As a result, I couldn’t donate. If you can provide a link (PayPal maybe), that I can offer a donation I’d gladly help.

]]>First of all, I have to say that this is a wonderful replacement to my previous one (which was also great) called List Yo Files.
Like List Yo Files, m1.downloadslist – allows users to easily display lists of files AND FOLDERS in their pages and posts. m1.downloadslist does it more elegantly and with more options than List Yo Files.
But the one thing that I felt List Yo Files did better was that it would generate a list of folders and subfolders which if you hovered over (or looked in the URL address box in the browser) would display the actual path to each folder making it linkable in other people’s websites or emails.
Now for FILES, m1downloadslist show the exact path to a file if you hover over it. GREAT! But if you hover over a SUBFOLDER, by comparison it displays an awfully complicated long path that is quite frustrating as it is unusable in emails and text documents (e.g. if an author wants to highlight a web folder to his or her reading audience the path displayed would look ugly in the document).
Is anyone able to improve on this? Or perhaps there is a setting that I have missed which says “show the actual downloadable path for subfolders” rather than the complex one m1downloadslist generates.
In case you don’t understand what I mean…
In List Yo Files, if I hovered over a folder called “hello-world” and say that I want to put a link to in an email, it would show something like this…
“https://www.mywebsite.com/resources/hello-world
In contrast, m1downloadslist shows something like this
“https://www.mywebsite.com/resources/hello-world/?d=L3ByZXNjcmliaW5n&m1dll_index_get=0”
Is there a way to get rid of the garbage text that follows the final forward slash?

]]>I have seen there is a topic already about wordpress languages.
I’ve read that m1.Downloadlist will check the default wordpress language.
Unfortunately this does not work with multilanguage pages (I use PolyLang to have a German/English website).
m1.PasswordList does not interpret the current selected language and shows on all pages the english word “Path”. It is not really severe and I can live with it, but I just wanted to give you a pointer to this.

An option like pathtitle="Pfad" in addition to the label option would be nice.

Hi there,
I run two free medical websites – one for doctors and one for nurse practitioners. Obviously the knowledge and skills of both professions are different but there is quite a bit of commonality. So, on the website for doctors, I have tonnes of online resources (doc, ppt, pdf file) in folders and subfolders. I would like to display SOME of these in the nurses website. Is it posible to do this. I do not wish to create duplicate databases and therefore have the nightmare of maintaining duplicate files across more than one website. If this is possible, then I can update just the one file on the main website which will then come through on the other websites.
