I have installed this plugin few months ago and it was working really well. However, in the last couple of days there have been many visits from the blocked countries to the wp login page. Please update the plugin IP database ASAP! Thanks!

I had only US and outlying US islands available to access the site. Guess wat, every single person in any other countries can access and create accounts with no issues. This does not block anything.

so lucky to found this plugin, as im a bit headache in the past few weeks, try to protect my blog from intrusion from overseas. By selecting allowed login only from my country and combined with other full security plugin, suddenly able to reduce the hacking attempt. So i’m continue to install this plugin into my ecommerce site too, as additional layer of security .

I have been trying out several of the better known Country Blocking plugins in the recommended list from www.remarpro.com. They were all dependent on some other product to work fully, and then they missed most of the hackers coming in internationally. This plugin, although relatively new to the market just worked like a charm with a simple country allow/deny table. My hacker volume has gone from hundreds per day to practically zero. Thank you very much. You have made my life much easier and productive. I will be buying the Pro version and putting a link to this up as one of my recommended plugins on my website.

But, by default the options are not straight forwward.
The default option “Allow login only for allowed countries or allowed IPs” will not block by country, even if you setup the countries allowed, but you did not setup anything under “IP Restriction” (as most will I think).
I think a logical solution is to NOT allow logins from restricted countries if nothing has been setup under “IP Restriction”.
For the geo blocking to actually work, you need to setup the blocking as “Allow login only for allowed countries”
For a long time I could not understand why I was getting failed login attempts from countries not allowed by this plugin.

2 stars because this plugin works as advertised. No problem with what it does in terms of function but… and I do mean a big BUT… there is now a jumbo, hideous looking banner at the top of every page in the admin begging for donations and wanting a 5 star rating right after it says thanks you for purchasing the pro version.
This is beyond annoying and completely unacceptable.
If there is a way to turn this off somewhere in the plugin settings I couldn’t find it and frankly, I shouldn’t have to look for it!
Fortunately it was only $10 for the pro. Thanks but no thanks… Removing and looking elsewhere!

The developer immediately reacted to my comments (I am a PRO user) and worked out a solution to resolve the issue.

First I was like yay, no more login attempts by scumbag hackerbots and bla. I had the IP setting that way, that only IPs from my country can access the login page. Installed the plugin to another site I maintain and donated a little amount, because I really liked the plugin. Then I was not able to access my login page anymore. Checked my IP – def. my country IP. So I had to FTP to the plugins, rename the plugin folder and then I could login again. I don’t know what went wrong here, maybe it’s the service giving the IP info that is not reliable. I like the idea and concept, but I can not saddle that to other users/owners of the pages I maintain.

Anyone can view my site, but I am the only one with user credentials. For some reason hackers were trying to login using various user names, like admin, webmaster, and blogmaster. They have made thousands of attempts in the last 6 months, but have not been able to guess a valid user name, also I use a very strong password. The attempts were coming from all over. Checking IP locations, the attempted hacks appeared to be coming from Lithuania, Pakistan, China, Italy, Indonesia, and other countries: all outside the United States where I live.
I installed this plugin and set it to allow logins from the United States only. Since then I haven’t had any more problems!
