Still working perfectly in the current version of wordpress. It stops all those annoying bot attacks that any wordpress site gets.
Still recommended.

I’m posting this because we as ‘users’, sometimes take for granted the efforts of plugin authors and seem only to comment when we are ‘whining’ or ‘complaining’.
Mostly because many do not simply follow the install procedures, so seek to blame the Author.
The Problem :
All WP users have is security because your site is constantly under threat. Unless your sitting there watching, one morning you’ll get up and your site has been damaged by some malicious idiot!
The Plugin :
As of : 07-10-18 this gem of a plugin is still working strong with the latest WP version!
Whilst it has not been updated for a few years, it’s still working and does so very effectively against potential threats as wouldbe hackers can’t find how to log into your site.
It’s a near impossibility to do so and soon, they give up and choose an easier target.
My Two Cents :
So for what it’s worth to the Author, very well done for this and can only hope they re-visit this plugin to add any additional elements.
I would certainly make a donation toward it if they were to resume and continue maintaining it!
It’s lightweight, it works…simple as that!

This plugin is simple and easy to setup. I have been using it for two years but with the last WordPress actualisation (4.9.8) it stopped working.
I was locked out and was not able to access to panel administration.
I had to delete the plugin.
What a pity.

Great plugin…running on a subdirectory installation on Wamp server (@ localhost) and its working on a network wordpress install with custom theme without issue.
Also installed on a production server on a standalone wordpress site…absolutely brilliant.
Very happy
Only suggestion that i will add for others who decide to use this plugin…some users may rather redirect back to home page instead of 404.
I dont know what would happen in the event of a real need for a 404 page when using the following (thats for others to provide insight into).
If you like the idea of redirecting unwanted logins back to homepage do the following;
Go to www directory in cpanel file manager (or ftp)
Then locate…wordpress/wp-content/themes/<your active theme> 404.php
use the following code instead of default
<?php
header(“HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently”);
header(“Location: “.get_bloginfo(‘url’));
exit();
?>
any attempts to login to wp-admin with above code and this plugin will simply now redirect back to home page all the time.
It owuld be nice if the plugin had a little more functionality so this could be only the outcome of an attempt to log in rather than any 404 error.
Perhaps and idea for a premium version of this plugin.

Love the plugin and it’s a great start. I use it along with some other methods to simply make it more difficult to reach the login page. though it’s slightly security theatre it does get the potential lazy web hackers out of the picture. And the plugin works pretty well.
I’d suggest adding functionality to stop WordPress from forwarding other URLs to the back end, but blocking the wp_redirect_admin_locations function in canonical.php.
There you will see:
add_action(
'template_redirect',
function() {
$requ = untrailingslashit($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
if (site_url('login','relative') === untrailingslashit( $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] )){
remove_action( 'template_redirect', 'wp_redirect_admin_locations', 1000 );
}
}
);
This means that if someone uses /admin it immediately forwards to the page regardless of if there’s a custom url. admin does the same. Forwards to wp-admin. At least here, when using the plugin you get the “page not found” error. That should happen when people try “login” as well.
Cheers.

Easy to use and works perfectly. Has not interfered with any other plug in and I am able to access admin no problem. I’ve tried to login using the wp-admin and it does send them to an error page. I like being able to define my own admin url so to speak. It has stopped people registering when I’ve not enabled this feature.

somehow I could not connect admin page and just fallowed direction on page – disable-.. txt, but no luck.
good thing was it was my first day that I start set my site so it was easy to redo everything.
I should check the review first before I set up this plug in.

Lockdown WP Admin conceals the administration and login screen from intruders. It can hide WordPress Admin (/wp-admin/) and and login (/wp-login.php)
Hey. And now try to enter the path: www.site.com///wp-login.php
and (!!!)login page is opened. This is a bug!
It was a surprise for basic authentication, but then she let me protect themselves from the above bug!
Get rid of the basic authentication is easy – it is necessary to create a empty file in the plugin directory disable_auth.txt. Then, to create a private admin user with base auth in panel and delete the file.
Waiting for a modified plugin, remove error ///wp-login.php
and I put 5 stars ??

Do not install! Once installed and activated, you can no longer access your administration area. It was hard to find a solution to turn it off, but I found and resolved my problem.
I’ll help you solve yours. If you are having the same problem, do this:
Access the file manager of your hosting Cpanel or through an FTP program like Filezilla. I will assume that you have this basic knowledge.
Navigate to the / wp-content / folder, rename the “plugins” folder to any name. After you do this, all your plugins are disabled. From there, you can access your site, for example: https://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin.
Enter your site and notice that all plugins are disabled … Do log out.
Now go back to the folder that you renamed and put its original name “plugins” again. After that you will have all the functionality of installed plugins again, but now are not active. So now you can delete the program that was giving problems and enable others.
I hope this helps. Hug!

I was searching a plugin that ONLY prevent me from “hackers” that was entering to my default sire url: mysite.com/wp-admin.
Thanks to this plugin, i could change the /wp-admin and put… mysite.com/wiiiiiiiiii.
I have been trying some others pluguns, plugins that have better rating than this, but none of them helped me. Some of them have not worked, and some others had too many options so I had to remove them.
Thanks for this good job!
I have wordpress 3.9.2 and works perfect, but I’ve read that it doesn’t accept wordpress 4.0 or more, so I think that it wil be interesting to implement it to work in a 4.0 wordpress.

Download, install, activate and you’re locked out of your website. Simple as that. If it happens to you, hope you have access to FTP. Go in your website, wp-content/plugins and shoot the plugin’s folder out.
Bad design and above all, it does NOT work at all. Period. It does NOT hide the wp-admin as even with a 404, people get through the back-end, seeing posts etc, which means info can still be obtained.
So, thanks, but no thanks.

At first this plugin worked great, I was happy with it, no on found the login page.
Thank God I did and still TG, don’t get locked out.
Now, I do not know how some want to be hackers find the login page, but some do.
Maybe an update made it worse. Fix please.

As already mentioned by another user, when the WordPress installation is in a subdirectory (mysite.com/subdir) and configured to be accessed through the root URL (mysite.com) by setting:
the plugin fails to work ??
—
Trying to login via: mysite.com/mykeyword
shows the login screen fine, but after clicking the Log In button, one gets the Not found error message:
“You tried going to mysite.com/subdir/mykeyword, and it doesn’t exist.”
So the only way to login is by disableing the plugin via FTP and then going to:
mysite.com/subdir/wp-login.php
—
Trying to logout via the WP logout link, which shows:
mysite.com/subdir/mykeyword?action=logout&_wpnonce=etc
also returns a Not found error message:
“You tried going to mysite.com/subdir/mykeyword?action=logout&_wpnonce=etc, and it doesn’t exist.”
So, to logout one has to actually use the following URL:
mysite.com/mykeyword?action=logout&_wpnonce=etc
—
If WP is installed in the root directory or in a subdomain, the plugin works great!

Works as intended, hiding sensible areas of the site (login and admin) from intruders.
There are some issues, like when logout inside the backend you are redirected to the frontend and then have logout again.
But overall works fine!
