I get a lot of 403 ‘errors’ when I use Link Checker. If I click on the links they work fine, so they’re not really broken are they?
You see them a lot on media and news sites.
403 usually indicates the site is set up to stop bots, and, I guess, tools like Link Checker from browsing content, probably because they fear being scraped.
Are they really a problem that we need to worry about or can we ignore them?

Thank you anyway !

]]>I cannot get the link checker to start a scan on my website. I’ve created an image of our live server and wanted to test replacing broken links on the site, so I downloaded this plugin as it has an export function.
However, I am unable to start a scan on this test server. I have disabled our redirection plugin on the site, but is there more I can do to resolve this issue? As it is difficult finding what I require in other link checking plugins
]]>Hi – Great plugin. I’ve recently run your plugin and results show that it duplicates all page, post, tag and category links. Is it supposed to do that? Thanks
]]>I have tried checking the links on my client’s site through both the plugin and your website checker and I get the same error on both, that the website is unreachable. Do you know of any other plugins that could be causing this error? I’ve tried it repeatedly over some time and keep getting the same error.
Thank you!
]]>Hi
I have used Link Checker several times with no issue. But I have recently moved my site into a multisite and now get this error
“The check of your website failed with the error:
website not reachable.”
I have WordFence and have whitelisted Link Checker’s IP address. I host with SiteGround and that hasn’t changed so I don’t think that is the problem (as you suggest in the FAQs). Could it be the multisite? What else should I check?
cheers

]]>Your biggest competition (in my mind) is Broken Link Checker, which makes it really easy to edit or fix redirects from the screen that shows the errors. I’m interested in your plugin because it would reduce the load on my server, and I’d be willing to pay for the professional version if it could replace Broken Link Checker for me. I had the free version of your plugin scan my site, and I can see the errors . . . but how do I go about fixing them? (For example, it has two redirects listed from my homepage, but I’m not sure where those links actually live on my site, or what they redirect to so I don’t know how to quickly fix the problem). Am I missing something? Or is that just not a feature this plugin offers?
]]>I have a multisite.
On some sites I can save the email address and on others it just overwrites with an older email address. Someone has a solution for this problem or the same problem as I have?
Hi,
Can’t have access to Tabs other than Progress Tab.

]]>I am getting this message, but I have not been able to find ANY WAY of reaching you:
“The validation of your token failed. The token is invalid or has expired. Please try it again or contact me if the token should be valid.”
I keep looking for documentation on how to use this plugin–it lists broken links, but I am non-technical and have no idea why a link shows as broken or how I am supposed to fix it.

]]>Hi
I’m getting the following errors but I don’t know how to fix them. Could you please help?
========================================================================================
Custom Status Codes
The Link Checker uses the following custom status codes:
598 – Blocked by robots: The Link Checker was not able to access the page because the access was blocked by the robots exclusion protocol.
599 – HTML parse error: The HTML code of this page could not be parsed because of an error in the code or because the page was larger than 50 MB.
Please note that it is also possible that a website returns these status codes and if this is the case, they probably have another meaning.
========================================================================================
Blocked by robots – What can I do to fix this?
HTML parse error – I don’t see anything wrong with the HTML code. I do have some parameters like target=_blank but that should cause errors.
Thanks,
Aamer
Whenever I click the Check your Website button I get the following error message:
“The check of your website failed with the error:
URL not reachable.“
Please advise, thanks!
]]>I installed & activated the plugin, and I’m still waiting to see if it finds the broken links. But after a couple hours, it still shows:
The link checker was not started yet.

Number of checked internal and external resources: 0
Back Link Checker was able to find the broken links immediately. When does this plugin crawl the site?

Then I clicked on the “Check Links” button anyway to see if it would work, but it only showed a blank white admin page.
]]>Hi. Installed this plugin but doesn’t work at all. No matter how many times I refresh my site and delete the cache, I always get this notification:
