Haven’t seen an update since WP went to 4.0 months ago. This plugin doesn’t work at all. When trying to create a playlist, it shows that there is 29 pages worth of media in the library but doesn’t display a single file for me to use. Look elsewhere for your video needs.

A live audio-stream in a WP post does play nicely on the computer (Mac, WinDOS, Linux), even on Android, but not on iOS. Read somewhere to set autoplay to false, but that didn’t help.
If it is not compatible w. all devices/platforms, I cannot use it, sorry ??

nice plugin but….
with me you find a bug (from you view point) on 2.1.5 and now you correct this.
If 2.1.5 work without internet (with fewtricks), 2.1.6 not work without internet on free version.
Sorry, but 2.1.6 is useless for me.
For 2.1.5 I give you 5 stars but for 2.1.6 only 2.

Hi ! Good job here, the plugin works perfectly.
I just have one question, I’m a free user of the plugin, and i want my video to loop on the background, but there is around 30 seconds of black screen delay between the end of my video and the new beginning.
Is there any way to make the video loop right after it ends ?
Thanks a lot !

Thank you.

I will give it a 4 once they would release the audio fix on mobiles. In which audio looks more like a video than an audio on mobiles.

This plugin is work great. It’s can config for any size of videos with player. It’s can work with no stretching when view in full screen (up to your config)
This plugin works for all my requirements. I use this plugin to embed .mp4 videos that I created with Camtasia Studio. It’s work great!

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous plugin; it works great for what it does; the interface melds seamlessly with the WordPress media interface. Even my most inexperienced users could probably manage using it successfully.
And I absolutely cannot use it, because it doesn’t support closed captioning, which is non-negotiable for me, by law. (I run a site for a U.S. federal government research lab.)
If you have to have closed captioning (and really, if you’re building sites for the general public and you don’t want to slap deaf people in the face and tell them they’re not welcome, you *should* use closed captioning — it’s a mensch thing, you know?), keep shopping. This one won’t do it for you. Much to my endless, boundless regret. *sigh*

Version 2.x is a major update to the plugin which has removed certain functionalities that are not supported any more in JW Player 6. These functionalities made JW Player 5 far superior to JW Player 6 for the one-website-non-commercial user.
After extensive testing with 2.1.1 I haven’t been able to implement Jw6 on my site the way I could with 1.7.2 using JW5. It is much more difficult to customise skins for playlists and has less player setting options.
With all versions of JW6 they’ve introduced a JW player text link if you right-click on any video. To remove it you have to manually add some tags to each of your WordPress shortcodes. Upgrading from version 5 means going back on all previous videos for the past couple of years and adding these tags if you want to remove the JW link.
It also depends on what type of user you are. There is an obvious move away from users who simply want a one-website-self-hosted video player. It’s fine to move towards analytics, encoding and hosting if you don’t
leave behind your one-website non-commercial user. Jeroen from longtailvideo states in another post that “basic video playback of an MP4 will become straightforward as HTML5 gains full adoption”. That may be true but I, for one, was a loyal user of JW and wouldn’t have even considered looking for an alternative until JW6.
As Morten Ross says in his review above the plugin is expensive as a premium version and the pricing structure has also changed which is another big disappointment. The May survey of customers on pricing was totally slanted towards an SaaS hosting content model with pricing based on a set number of site and monthly plays. This is another reason
why I will be keeping abreast of other players for when it’s eventually time to move on from JW5.
Some features which were “deprecated” in JW5 are being re-introduced such as horizontal volume sliders and
but all-in-all version 2.x (up to 2.1.1 when this review was posted) of this plugin imcorporating JW6 is a huge disappointment and a step backward for me.

Bought JW Player 6 and after extensive testing haven’t used it. It is much more difficult to customise skins for playlists and has less player setting options.
While JW6 Premium gives the ability to remove the logo they’ve introduced a JW player text link if you right-click on any video. Upgrading from version 5 means going back on all previous videos for the past couple of years and adding these tags if you want to remove the JW link.

This company supplies a full featured video player, with personal support, for free. I have been pleased with this plugin, and have received timely support from longtail as needed.
Good job longtail teem. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I’ve been using these guys for a while now. Recently I upgraded my phone and didn’t have my adblocker turned on. I visited my website and all of a sudden I’m seeing porn! I refresh a few times and don’t see it again. But all of a sudden the Google Play store opens up automatically to a game page! WTF?!?!
I contacted the developer about this issue, and they setup a test ad for me because they couldn’t recreate it on my site and blamed another ad provider. Well, after about a day of refreshing on THEIR site I got both of the annoying and inappropriate popups!
They said that there is nothing that they could do about it and suggested I should look for another adsolution!
Stay away!

not work with my website links.

Since upgrading to JWPlayer 6 if authors attempt to insert an image into a post, it results in an empty shortcode [jwplayer] being inserted. When I reverted back to JWPlayer 5 it worked normally again.
Rating: 1 star
If I revert back to 5, audio works again.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
Open a post for editing.
Click Add Media
Click one audio file (mp3, m4a, or wav)
The insert JW Player button does not show up.
In ver 5, the button shows up fine.

I’ve been looking for a HTML5 player for some time, and found a very few candidates for my requirements:
Ease of use
Integrates and adheres to WP methodology and menus
Works in all major web browsers
Automatic fallback when html fails.
One of the most annoying replies I have received from the premium plugin providers in regards to integration to WP media library (the majority of plugins today require you to copy the shortcode into the post, instead of selecting the media and then click insert media to have the required shortcode inserted to the post as is the default WP method) is:
“From past experience we know that including such a feature in a plugin that will be used in various themes (themes which are not built by us) can lead to conflicts (especially with themes that are not properly built).
For this reason we have the shortcode available which is a basic copy & paste procedure“.
This kind of attitude from a premium plugin is not acceptable to me, but it’s been so hard to find a [premium]plugin that makes it simple, so that I can focus on content and not code.
This plugin is expensive as a premium version, but is a must if you want your site clean and without the JW watermark for one.
Thanks for making self-hosted video on WP easy!

Two pages on my site will illustrate my problem with JW6.
There are two audio selections on this page. With JW5, as you can see, each MP3 file gets a nice compact little player. When I “upgraded” to JW6, each file gets a video player complete with a “full screen” option. Who needs that for MP3?
https://wp.hjcs.org/recorded-classes
The source for this page is https://hjcs.org/podgen11/feed.xml which is a podcast created by Podcast Generator (https://podcastgen.sourceforge.net/). JW5 is the only audio player I know that can play such a podcast in this manner. With JW6 I got an error saying that there is no playable file.
Why does 6 lack these basic features?
