Hey all,

Ive been using this plugin for a number of years on a site, and noticed that the captions werent showing correctly at the bottom of the image within the lightbox, and were always saying “untitled” even when a caption is set for the image.

I dug into the code and realised the default html code the WP gallery generates has changed significantly, hence the plugin code isn’t finding the caption text to display.

I’ve modified the JS script in the plugin so that it works once again, and if no caption is set for the image it will show the page title instead.

Simple replace the code in the following file:
/wp-content/plugins/jquery-lightbox-balupton-edition/scripts/jquery.lightbox.plugin.min.js

with the following:

When I click on my image the popup only has a small white border around 3 sides. I would like to make it uniform on all 4 sides. I have tried adding ‘padding’ via the edit feature but the one side is always smaller. What file do I look in to fix this? Thanks

As you can clearly see, the plugin works perfectly when viewing an image from a gallery. However, when viewing an image with a direct link to it, it simply loads it. Am I missing something?

I’ve gone through several different lightbox plugins and found that this one works the best, so I’d rather not have to experiment with others. I’m sure that, to get this working properly, it would take a few small tweaks somewhere…

After a gallery is added, the link is set up to “Media File”, and the post updated, on the end-user side, when clicking on an image results in the lightbox being stuck in the little loading animation for a very long time without ever loading the pictures…. Please help

After clicking on an image, the photo name (e.g. “birthday_photo.jpg”) appears at the top. Is there a way to make the image title (e.g. “Birthday Photo”)appear at the top instead? Thanks!

Right now, I have everything installed correctly… or so I think.

The issue is, when working with the lightbox itself, some of the images in the header area, so I am wondering if it is this?

I’m using the plugin for almost a couple of months already,
and I have no problem since.
But just today while i was checking my page, I notice the lightbox
stopped working. I wonder why its not working anymore seems I didn’t
touch anything.

The fixlink function used as a filter on attachment_link produces errors as the two variables $link and $id are not defined on the function definition, i.e. it should be fixLink ($link, $id) to work.

Presumably this was to get the plugin to work even if the gallery shortcode didn’t use the file=link command.

Personally I’d rather not have the filter as it messes up other code I’m using and people should just read the instructions.

Thanks for a good plugin. Just one issue – the plugin produces the message “wp_enqueue_script was called incorrectly”.

Looking at the code it simply needs to use a different hook instead of plugins_loaded, the best one is probably wp_enqueue_scripts.

While you’re at it you should perhaps consider using the neater method to pass the js variables, outlined by Otto wp_localize_script instead of writing directly.

i am wondering if it is possible to add the tag rel=”lightbox” so the jquery lightbox effect is added to posted images automatically?

currently, i have to add this to every image posted manually.

I would like to offer this capability so other authors don’t have to alter image insert code.

First of all- great work and thank you for sharing!
I’m using jQuery Lightbox with plugin for flickr stream and as soon I’m done with my site I will show you the result.

There is one think, that can make the script even better: I was looking in the script’s files for a place to add social share links. I think in the light box next to the title will be good place for facebook, google+ and twitter share links.

What you think about this?
Do you think you will have the time adding this function?
Or you can give a hint where in the script to look?

Hey, thanks for that great plugin. I prefer it much more than a ThickBox effext now. BUT: What can I change to force a download when clicking the “download”-button?
I don’t want the image just opened in a new tab or something else.

jQuery Lightbox plugin stopped working after upgrade to 3.2.1.

All code and markup are the same I am not changed anything but still when I click on the image nothing happens. I don’t even get a JS error.

Please resolve this problem as my site is getting pushed back to go live.

FIrstly thanks for this plugin, it’s just what I need. Normal prototype and scriptaculous lightbox plugins somehow conflict with some other JS on my site, and I don’t have time to track that down. I’m already using jquery so this one plays nicely.

After some adjustment of the settings, everything is brilliant. Except for one small thing:

The initial position of the lightbox window is quite low down on the screen (the bottom edge of the lightbox is touching the bottom edge of the browser window). Once I click next or previous the whole thing slides into the middle and works normally.

This happens in Safari, Firefox and Chrome on OS X. It doesn’t happen in IE7 Win7.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks!

I’m trying to fire up lightbox when a page load, using anchor to specify good image to show up.

However, it won’t work… I’ve tried many things, without success ??

Here is an example:

I’ve just done the automatic upgrade of the plugin to version 0.16 and it crashed my blog.
It used to work fine before upgrading to this version.

There are a couple issues with this plugin that need to be addressed.

1. Every overlay features the balupton name and link back to balupton.com. This means that people that use this plugin are unknowingly providing sneaky SEO juice pumping back-links. How is this not scumbag SEO backlink farming?
2. Almost a quarter of the code is multiple copies of

   * @author Benjamin "balupton" Lupton {@link https://www.balupton.com}
   * @copyright (c) 2009-2010 Benjamin Arthur Lupton {@link https://www.balupton.com}

   Yes, this is not really SPAM, or backlinking, but it is very masterbertory.

3. Clicking on the Title opens up pop-up window! yes, that is right, a 1994 style pop up window… WTF!

Overall, nice plugin, except for the high SPAM / Blackhat SEO Scumbag factor.
