Working on a client’s older site. Classic editor, child theme of 2011. This plugin installs fine and works as expected, but, but I don’t see where I can edit the list of categories to be included in the display?
TIA for any assistance you can offer!
]]>Thanks for your huge patience! After 7 years I finally could update the plugin to a newer version. Now it doesn’t require jQuery and I also offer a Gutemberg block so you can use it with the latest themes.
Now that code is more modern, I’ll be able to launch updates in shorter time.
]]>This plugin just broke! Was working fine for at least a year, and today I got an “out of memory” error and the widget built with the plugin doesn’t display. The site is running WordPress version 6.0. The error was:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in /home/customer/www/musicprosmanitoba.ca/public_html/wp-includes/category.php on line 383 There has been a critical error on this website.
I’ve disabled the plug-in so there’s no link to share, but the site is here: https://musicprosmanitoba.ca/
]]>Hello, is there any plan to support WP 5.8.1 for jQuery Categories List Widget?
]]>Hello,
`We are using tech rumor child of newsblock theme. And we have a grid section in homepage which displays the subcategory for each posts. As indicated in screenshot the main categories are “Practice Growth Management” Opthalmic products and Practice Management. But there are subcategories like Dispensary Best practices and Frames being displayed under posts.

]]>Hi. I recall about a year or two ago there used to be an option that will allow the showing of categories that the post (of which the code was placed in) will show.
Meaning if I put it in a post title ‘4 yummy foods to try’ the option will allow the displaying categories to be only the categories that article is placed in. ie. Food, Suggestions, etc.
I cant remember how I had this option working then, either I forgot or it has been removed, kindly help us out!
]]>Hi,

]]>Hi there,
Is there a way to hide the parent category of the category taxonomy? I have only one parent directory, but many levels of subdirectories. When the page loads, I would like to have directly the first 4 subdirectories showing up and not the one parent.
Thanks!

]]>Hi Miguel! Thanks for all your work!
I thought this plugin would show post titles under the category similar to how your jQuery Archive plugin works.
When I click the category, it goes to the page listing the posts for that category. I am not getting a jQuery error and my template has wp_footer().
Does This Plugin Only List Categories Or Post Titles Under Each Category as well?
]]>Hi Miguel,
I am trying to use the plugin but whenever I try to edit the category list on the widget it doesn’t give me the option of doing so, I mean it doesn’t give me any option to “save” or delete the excluded categories, instead it gives me a list of all the categories and that is what appears on the site, I was under the impression I could add this as a widget twice in order to show lists of several “groups” of categories (multiple instances as a widget)for that I need to be able to hide/exclude categories otherwise it will only show the same widget every time.
Thanks for making this plugin. It is very helpful. Maybe I am missing something but…. I was wondering if you are working on using INCLUDE as an option. On many pages, I just want to include what category and right now, to use your plugin, I need to exclude every other category.
Thanks again,
Shirley
Thanks, I really like this plugin!
I have created custom taxonomies, is there any way to use this plugin with those in stead of the default categories?
All the best,
Eivind
Hey.
First of all congrats for the plugin. Easy and simple.
I’m using it to create a simple category listing page
[jQueryCategoriesList expand=”all” exclude=1,14]
expanding the subcategories, and excluding other categories.
The thing is, I have a Category and then several Sub-Categories. Is there a way that when I list them I can omit the category name and just show the sub-categories?
Kind regards
]]>Is there any way to eliminate the expand function for categories with hierarchy? I’d like them all to stay expanded at all times as I have the shortcode in a page.
I’m also missing the category totals next to each. According to the posts I’m reading here, there should be a total posts number next to each category.
Thank you, I’m happy to have found this mod for my site. Here’s the page to see for yourself.

]]>how to show categories in columns?
because when you have too many categories, the list is very large… ??
Thank you very much.
I would like to display a CATEGORY IMAGE for each category. This can be hard-coded for each category – since wordpress doesn’t seem to have a FEATURED image for a CATEGORY.
Is there a way to display such an image next to each category?
Thanks

Once you click on a subcategory, is it possible to sort the posts by name, instead of date of post ?

]]>If someone opens a parent category, the li gets an extra class: “expanded”. In my widget I checked “Parent expand sub-categories”. This give the subcat li a the class “jcl_active”, but it doesn’t give the parent li the “expanded” class. This breaks some of my css styling. Can you help me modify the code so that if a parent cat’s li is open for an active subcat, that parent cat’s li will get an “expanded” class?
]]>Hi all
I realise this seems daft, but for the life of me I can’t quite figure out how to put a space before a post count.
So, rather than Auckland(1), making it show as Auckland (1)…
Can someone help?
Thanks!
