I had to uninstall the latest version of the plugin (1.2.23) as it was causing crash of my WordPress site. To get rid of “There has been a critical error on this website.”, I had to physically delete the plugin directory on the server.?

I tried 3 other blockers and none worked until I tried iQ Block Country.?? Again none worked!? Yea I didn’t like the idea of downloading a Geolight data base but downloaded it to desktop and then uploaded it to my website through the control panel File manager upload.?? Those that say it didn’t work most likely installed it in the wrong location as I did at first.? But hey it works great and those trying to get into my site are at a loss of words because they are not able.?? These scam artist are not really looking at your site but are trying to inject malware into certain pages and now they can’t get it!? Great job!

This plugin has destoyed my Google Search Ranking, as well as our Services we offer, by causing an error to create a Sitemap, stoping crawling efforts on both bing and google. We have losted over 100K… I did not know until I wanted to update my sitemaps and it gave me an issue. I recommend fixing this issue or creating a FAQ for this very issue, if you have a solution for it. I will give this plugin a 1 star and not worth your time or your money lost.
I had to go through each plugin and turn them off and try to create a sitemap, one by one, as I got to IQ Block Country Plugin, and tried. It started to create me a Sitemap.
If any of you are having a problem with Sitemap issues or your website has dropped down in the Search, try creating a updated sitemap and if it gives you an error. Deactivate this Plug and try again.
Will be removing from my website, after I do a few more tests…

I have tried 3 different country blockers and even wordfence, failed terribly. I was a little against this one because of the 31 1 star reviews but decided to try it out anyway. Simply WOW! I followed the installation docs, signed up for the database (FREE) put it in the directory, allowed only the US and US outlying countries and Shazam! All spam accounts from Germany and Africa instantly stopped! Within 20min over 200 blocks!!!! I was getting over 300 users with fake emails and registrations a day until I decided to go for this one anyways. I am so glad I did! Thx guys…
I just want to add, the 31 negative 1 star reviews I think maybe are for people who did not figure out how to install it correctly, RTFM, or maybe there theme is not compatible. Im using Classipress theme V4.7 works GREAT!

The author freely provides an interface to use freely accessible third-party data to help your site block countries based on IP address.
Instructions on how to access the Maxmind GeoIP data and where to put it so that the plugin can use it are clear and easy to understand.
This is a great solution! You do have to remember to update the data periodically yourself, as you have to pay Maxmind in order for the process to be automated.

Having someone trying to brute force attack your site daily is a little unnerving.
After a little research, I came across an article which led me to this plugin to block other countries from accessing the site’s backend.
Perfect!
For those people who gave low reviews due to not finding the database that is needed, then google “how to block traffic trying to log into worpress” and look for IQ in the answer. I found a simple guide on wpengine site. It only took minutes to set up.

`I can’t find any other word to describe the plugin author! You get the plugin free from wordpress site and then what? It sets on your website uselessly. You have to download the database file to get it work but where on earth is the database file??? You have to register to the plugin author to get the database file and how on earth do you register??? Well once you try to register a message will pop up on his website and say “Don’t have a MaxMind account? Learn how to create one.”
Simply, he will keep your life as difficult as can be until you buy his monthly or yearly subscription and simply, I am deleting this plugin all together.
I don’t know why wordpress Admins don’t check if the plugin authors following terms and conditions!

Hi,
the plug-in does its work correctly and in efficient way. Unfortunately the plug-in goes in conflict with the SEOPress plug-In, destroying all the optimisation work.
In order to restore the SEOPress to the normal, is necessary to re-generate the entire .haccess file. I don’t know how it will work with other SEO plug-In but my experience was very painful. I lost time and i guess several position in the rank. Ready to use again if you will solve the compatibility with SEOPress.

This is the best plugin. A little involved in setting it up, but once it is, it does a great job. I installed it on my brothers website a few years ago and update the database every so often. I had to move his website today and spent a bit of time looking at it again, it has stopped 50,000 attempts to access! Tweaked some more settings with it today and beefed up other security as well. Had fun watching someone try from multiple IP’s.

The plugin is very good, I need a function that prohibits registration according to the region, but this plugin does not have it. I hope the author can add it. My template uses a pop-up box to log in. My idea is that the restricted region will be prompted when the registration pop-up window is opened. “Registration not supported in your region”

For a website with only dutch clients this plugin is a perfect security.
I got 400 to 1000 tryouts every day with a admin login.
With this plugin the access to the admin login page is 0.

I payed for the API through the plugin and PayPal, the merchant (Pascal) received payment, but I didn’t receive the API. I emailed the merchant two times, but never received a reply. Money down the tube and ripped off.

This is a very complicated plug-in to install as you need to upload the country database to the back end of your server. Installation is just too complicated.

Pending user sign ups by the THOUSANDS and nothing stops them. They sign up faster than I can delete them and I’m always worried I’ll delete a real customer! Although this plug in was more difficult for my old brain to install than other plug ins I went slow and step by step. Worked the charm!!!! Has already stopped hundreds of bots and I made sure to donate for this great addition to my site.

I use IQ Block country for over 1 year now. And with success! The use to block entire countries or allow some countries in combination with allowing/disallowing IP ranges works perfect. The number of attacks and spam has fallen significantly to almost zero.

Good plugin, also the costs of using their API are fair. But the support does not reply and we receive no receipt for subscribing the API.
We might cancel the subscription after one year. Hopefully they improve their support.

This is a great plugin! I installed and configured it in minutes and I’m not a web dev. I’m a hobbyist with love for technology and programming so that’s all I needed.
I verified it does what it should do by using a VPN. It has a ton of functionality and really just does a great job!
My only complaint would be the somewhat finicky account creation process/site navigation for downloading the lists, but that’s not an issue and won’t take a star off for it.
I’ll definitely buy the premium when I need this for a commercial project!
