The plugin works well but you have to keep in mind that aside from the fact that you have to remove any caching plugins for it to work, you should also whitelist your own IP address right away in both the front end and back end settings. There are settings in each to automatically blacklist any IP address that hits the site more than X times in 24 hours (set to 10 by default, but it can be changed). Doing admin type stuff you can hit that threshold (like I did) and you will be wondering why your IP address has been blacklisted and why if you remove it from the blacklist it gets automatically put back on. This is actually a great feature but you have to be aware of it and know how to take your own IP address out of the equation.
I’m happy to say that I posted a question on the support forum and got a response a few hours later, and now it is working perfectly. This is a great plugin for getting rid of unwanted traffic, especially if you are on a shared server plan with resource limits.

IP2Location Country blocker is a highly recommended tool, to get rid of annoying traffic. We run a small website addressing 1 country only, with no foreign customers (imagine something like a local hairdresser or a barber shop). We combine the plugin with a smart (although hand edited) htaccess file, and get wonderful clean statistics, no shopping-cart-scam anymore (running out of stock because of merchandise is in shopping cart, but never ordered); no vulnerability scans anymore, and no statistics trolls anymore – all this without damaging SEO.

I just have to say that this plugin is literally SAVING my website. I have been receiving reports about failed logins to my website (over 1k for 2-3 months!). I used a different plugin to find the IP addresses only to find that they all belong to only two countries… The plugin gives you the option to block specific IPs or countries. I started blacklisting IPs individually, but after figuring out where they are coming from, I just blacklisted those countries. Job done.
Also to add because I see some reviews mentioning interference with other cache plugins (even though it’s indicated in the description that they need to be disabled, which is not really the best solution), in my case, it still works with a cache plugin I use to improve my site’s performance.

Hi guys, I installed your plugin before I knew much about it and was only able to make this work after disabling our caching plugin: W3 Total cache.
I see your disclaimer about disabling all caching plugin. I am asking politely, “Please explain to us why a caching plugin prevents your plugin from working?”
Caching is kind of a big deal. Comparing the Benefits of a caching plugin – to a country location blocker – I would have to say the caching plugin wins hands down as the benefits of caching helps achieve SERP ranking by improving a website’s performance. Absolutely brilliant plugin. Easy to install, and started working right away.
One of my websites has been getting slammed for the last 5 days with a bot from one specific country. Installed the plugin late last night, and the visits from that country are already down from more than 6,600 an hour to less than 150. I have also just lowered the threshold for the plugin to start blocking front end visits from a specific IP to a much lower number, and that seems to be catching most of the ones still slipping through. Very happy with the result so far, so will be installing it on the other 4 sites I own.

I installed this because I noticed that every time I installed a new WP website, the site immediately reveived tons of visitors from a specific country’s search engine before it had even gone live and I had even made my first post. On an altogether different site, it turned out that the biggest trolls were non-Americans, even though my site was US-centric.
I wasn’t sure whether or not this plugin would work (I keep being told that it’s oh, so difficult to block countries, practically impossible), but it does seem to be working. I noticed that failed login attempts went down to zero overnight, and that most of my visitors started coming from the US.
Understand, though, that this plugin isn’t 100% failsafe, as bad actors can also access archives of your site from the Wayback Machine or use VPNs and proxies. But it seems to do the job so far, and I’m crossing my fingers that it’ll keep working in the future.

I have been using this plugin for a few WordPress applications for several years. In several of these instances, a client with a local business has requested to only have an American audience and not record any visits from international IPs. This plugin facilitates that need very well.
Despite being a “free” subscriber to their service, their support has been outstanding. I had an issue several weeks ago, and their rep worked with me to resolve the issue in a reasonable amount of time.

This plugin is useless as you never get the verification email that it is supposed to send out. The support from the development team is non-existant. No one answers emails. Don’t waste your time trying to install this.
The support people for this plugin are useless. They don’t even know how to send an email!
They even blocked my application to join their Facebook page! I was hoping that they could resolve my issues with their Plugin on the group. Absolutely disgusting treatment of a WordPress user. Steer clear of these people!

I rarely have left a review as nothing has ever hit that chord with me. This plugin is different! We have had a problem with Restrict Content Pro that they do not want to acknowledge with accounts manually created bypassing the Plugin. The why or why not is moot. This plugin stops the issue in its tracks. It is the ONLY one I have found, as a journalist, that I trust and for a FREE version product I am blown away! WP-Rocket plugin is already installed on my website.
Now I installed this plugin but it's not working. I tried to deactivate the wp-rocket for testing and it's started working.

I have installed it on 3 of my sites so far. The first was getting hammered by hacking attempts using brute force and trying to exploit WP vulnerabilities. I blocked most of the world IPs where I do not deal and set them to block on only 1 attempt.
I installed it on a couple of other sites, and lo and behold they were being frequently hit also but only a few attempts an hour.
It also works well with my other plugins such as elementor, hide my wp, and many others. I’ve had no issues at all with it so far.
I am very impressed and thankful for this free solution.

You need to be more specific when you say it doesn’t work well with one f the most popular caching plugins on the market. You might as well remove your plugin from the market place as its pointless if it doesn’t work with these kind of plugins.
Or at least let others know what works with your plugin when a caching method is used.
Even better – get your developers to fix the issues related. You cant have a plugin for WordPress and then tell all your users that use a Caching plugin that your site speed is less important then your security. Both come hand in hand.
Why not reach out to WP Rocket and ask their developers what could be the cause to the conflict.

This IP2Location Country Blocker plugin does not work well with the WP Rocket cache plugin. To avoid unexpected results, we will strongly recommend you to deactivate the cache plugin.
WP Rocket is a heck of a lot more important. They should fix their plugin. There are other IP/Country blockers, but WP Rocket is the best and everyone needs the SPEED of the site.

Although it misses some functionality:
1. Not possible to set a threshold after which the IP gets blocked forever.

Simple to set up for this UK only seller. Completely stopped all the dodgy login attempts from around the globe as soon as it was set up (only a few minutes)
