It was a great plugin, until the blocks crashed when highlighting a special character. Now with the new Update (1.1.0) it says “Fixed:?Ensure that when highlighting a special character, the block doesn’t crash (props?@jrmd,?@dkotter?via?#204).”
That might be true. But now all other blocks I want to do changes to, especially Spectra Blocks, crash when clicking on them. The problem could be solved by deactivating “Insert Special Characters” plugin. Whatever you fixed, you did something wrong.

it didnt happen with prev. version, it doesnt happen with default theme.

I can of course insert in a regular test html just fine (non WP) (most of the encoding values – not all ).
Also when i insert from your Character Table (under Latin) it DOES APPEAR OK while in EDIT Mode , then screws up, when page goes live.
The plugin is passing compatibility checks in WP.. and our website is relatively new: a few years old. using Blocksy Theme. From what i know WP is by default UTF-8 (and i left at that).

Hi there!
Before you create your own thread on these forums, please note that the Insert Special Characters plugin is marked as Stable support:
10up is not planning to develop any new features for this, but will still respond to bug reports and security concerns. We welcome PRs, but any that include new features should be small and easy to integrate and should not include breaking changes. We otherwise intend to keep this tested up to the most recent version of WordPress.
Given the above support note, we do not intend to be regularly active on these support forums and will instead keep a closer eye on bugs or security reports within the GitHub repository. Even with the Insert Special Characters plugin being under Stable support, there are several ways in you can find the answers to your questions:
Thanks,
Team 10up.
WordPress version: 6.0
I’m on gutenburg editor. When I’m searching for a character in the dialog/popup – css breaks and characters are getting mixed up.

It does work with Gutenberg editor but not the Full Site Editor.
Hope you could help. Thank you very much.
]]>I am trying to get some Greek characters to display properly, and no matter what I do, they display as a question mark. I’ve tried manually inserting them using &character_name; format, and using the Special Characters plugin. The result is the same.
]]>as the title says…
only normal spaces are output in the frontend
Tooltips work in new version. Great!
But the userinterface of the inserter is partly not visible in “Fullscreen mode: off”, depending on the position of the cursor.
If the insertion point is near the beginning of the line, the thirst 3 columns of special characters are out of sight.
]]>Than You for integrating no-break space (U+00A0)!
I suppose it is located in the “Punctuation” section?
But the only chance to get it, is using the search function (entering each time the correct name in full)
Maybe You could add a Tooltip on mouseover to all – or at least all invisible – characters, to give us a chance for quick selection of the character we are looking for?
Hello!
I love your plugin, though I wish it weren’t necessary.. this should really be a default part of the block editor!
Question, though. When I try to insert an apostrophe I am given this character — ? — rather than the expected — ’ –. The same goes for the double quotation marks — ? — instead of — ” —
Can this be fixed? Or is this a problem with my setup?
Also, just out of curiosity, what does it take to add characters to your plugin? I realize adding each and every Unicode character would be overkill, but I’m just curious what’s reasonably doable. I saw another poster request ? — I use a number of other fractions as well and would kill to see the ones listed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_Forms ??
Thanks!
Ben
Thanks for this great plugin!
I wonder if you could add “c acute”, “C acute” and “capital letter sharp-s/ess-zed” (?, ?, ?) in a future update. Thanks in advance to all contributors!
Hi guys,
I installed plugin. Inserted symbol but on front I see just number

In template to show content used <?php the_content(); ?>
Could you help?

I thought that I was finally ready to “upgrade” to the Block Editor when I discovered that this editor doesn’t have a way to insert special characters
I was relieved to find your Insert Special Characters plugin only to be greeted with this: “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.”
So, why haven’t you upgraded/maintained the Insert Special Characters plugin?
Thanks.

]]>Are en dash and em dash included in special characters? I am not able to find them by filtering. I agree that it would be helpful to see the name of each character as it is hovered over.
Thanks.
]]>First, thank you for coding this plugin. It definitely fills a functionality gap in the block editor. Does the plugin include   or &thinsp: or zero-width-non-joiner? Also, it would be helpful if, in future versions, you could include the description of the special characters in the interface, the way the classic editor does. Thanks!
