I have about 2,600 pages to get up on a WordPress site and this is saving me so much time. It works perfectly. Especially helpful that I can use the file name as the slug, so I can do an easy quick htaccess rewrite for each folder.

This worked great. I’ve still got clean-up to do, but all the pages are there. <3

I had a static site with over 1000 pages. This plugin saved me a ton of time in migrating it to a WordPress site. THANK YOU.

Ok, it does not do all the job for you but how can I complain? It did save me a lot of hours of work! Thanks a milion time for this little gem. Hope you’ll keep it updated because it’s very usefull and well done.

Tnx, you saved us a lot of time! Works even on the newest WordPress.

We have a wiki from Wikispaces consisting of 880+ pages and needed to find a new format to host it in without cutting and pasting all of those pages somewhere. A quick HTML output from that site, some mass search and replaces of URL in the HTML files, and an import using this and we had a functioning site again! I hope Stephanie Leary can consider continuing work on this plugin as it has a very specific purpose that can help some of us under certain conditions. It was a great plugin to find and immensely helpful.

This is awesome, just what I needed.
I just got one issue, surely caused by some wrong setting. Each time I import a HTML page int WP, I get all my existing pages copied too (so that I have multiple pages duplicated)
Please help wth this.
Thanks in advance

After spending over a week with in-house developers, web hosting advanced customer service, added php memory, purchased a whole new site for clean install, emails to the developer, posting o boards, etc, we have not been able to import even one page. Even the hosting company worked on it personally. We have attempted a direct full import, small directory files, etc in an attempt to overcome the fatal errors to no avail. Maybe this is a main reason there has been no update to the plugin in several months. Point of interest, we have also attempted the import conversion ontwo different WP releases. Poor execution.

No problems at all. Have to admit I was a little skeptical especially given that it hasn’t been updated in a year, but it worked great. Added to my must have plugins list.

This plugin extracts HTML chunks from specified locations in your HTML files and uses them to create WordPress posts or pages. Really useful tool!

The plugin is not perfect, it has a few bugs in its behavior and UI. BUT, once you get used to that, it’s an incredible time saver. I have imported 600+ pages made in Dreamweaver (eeeeew!) to a new flawless custom theme in a couple minutes. So yes, I can live with a few bugs and in the meanwhile I’m giving the plugin author 5 stars

Went through the settings page and filled in everything. Import claims it worked and no new page or post created. Tested this with both folder and single file upload.

I must admit I had very low expectations for the ability of this plugin to import a site from a webhost’s proprietary webbuilder app, so it wouldn’t have been that hard to exceed them.
However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the import went. Plugin did well grabbing HTML and images, not so well with preserving the page hierarchy. Lots of tinkering with titles, parents, and the menu left to do, but still. Getting the bulk of the content imported saved me hours. Thanks!

Very useful plugin. Worked great. Excellent documentation on the developer’s site, too. It was a bit of a read, but afterwards I did the entire import correctly the very first time. Thank you!

I installed and activated this plugin and my site crashed instantly. So I went into my remote DNS provider account deactivated the plugin and my site came back up. So I uninstalled the plugin, everything has been ok since then. My theme is PhotoStory Premium version 1.1.6 By Tomas Toman.
Maybe it is my error somewhere. I have blamed a plugin before for problems on my site, and then realized that I was in error after further investigation.

The description says:
Imports well-formed HTML files into WordPress pages.
However, it does not do this job for me as my html is not minified even though it is well-formed.
The details are here: Does not treat white space properly
This plugin might be good for transferring existing sites to WP but not for my needs.

This came very handy to me in a number of occasions. I must say I’m impressed of how well it works and how beautifully thought of this plugin is. Still can’t believe it is offered for free. Thank you so much for releasing this, it saved me a lot of time and energy!

Worked well for me with a bit of massaging of the data.

Thanks! This plugin has saved me a lot of time importing more than a hundred articles from an old HTML site. Very flexible options. Highly recommended.

What an amazing plugin – does not get enough recognition. I do wish there was a bit better documentation explaining each area better, and would love if there was a way to assign all posts to a date, but I guess you can do that after it’s important with the bulk edit.

Really useful, does exactly what it says and is very flexible. Really impressed considering it’s totally free. Thanks for this!
3 suggestions for improvement:
1) The menu item should be under the Tools directory, not the Settings directory. After the import is done, we end up there anyway, then have to click over to the Settings area again. Maybe a “Do another import” button at the confirmation page would be useful.
2) It’d be great if we could select the parent category, and sub-directories within there would be populated in sub-categories as well. That would make importing posts into categories a DREAM!
3) A “Save and Import” button would be much preferred as well. As-is, you have to hit “Save” and then after refresh “Import”. I can see why you’d want each individually, but a combo button would reduce clicks and refreshes by A LOT.
Thanks again!

Great plugin!
Would be perfect for my workflow if it could be executed automatically every hour or so.
Any suggestion about how to do this automatism?

I’m baffled by some of the middling ratings and reviews this plugin has got from some.
It’s a fiddly old business trying to import from html so some trial and error with the settings is required. I can only think that people weren’t technically minded enough to play with it.
Great work

When you don’t have a CSV, XML or RSS feed then you have to scrape. HTML Import 2 is much better than any scraper available. In fact it’s NOT a scraper but a well-written importer for professional developers. I’ve used the HTML Import 2 to convert several static websites into WordPress. The UI is easy to understand and support was great!

After promising I could convert a site before looking at the size of it, I wondered whether anyone could drown themselves in a coffee cup, then I half recalled seeing your plugin name. A quick search, an install, a glance over the settings then checking against your notes/support & we’re away!
Thanks for creating this & putting it out there Stephanie!!
