I updated this plugin to support WebP, WebM, SVG and ICO. Would the author like my new version to upload for everyone?

When the images are uploaded to the current site when running this plugin, the images get uploaded to 2018/01 instead of the current month (2018/06).

]]>I have some PDF missing that I stored in a folder available at the root of my server. The links on them are working. They are detected as external files that could be imported into the DB (which is precisely what I want) but when I update the post (tickbox is checked), nothing happens… is it just me ?
I’ve tried with the PDF on another location (other domain) and still nothing.

I noticed that when source url contains attribute-value pairs the plugin does not pick it up as a potential import. For example, the plugin ignored the following URL:

In there any chance you could add some code to deal with this situation, so that I do not have to remove the text after “.jpg”.

My request is the option of selecting an image size after the image has been retrieved and uploaded to the Media Library: thumbnail; medium; large; original
Currently this can be done through the media button while editing a post but is cumbersome.
Perhaps, once the image has been uploaded to WordPress a pop-up with the options above?

This plugin is really essential as long as the import plugin of WP will not be able to import the media.
Let me suggest some improvements that would make it perfect.
1 – Instead of exclude by domain, would it not be more practical to include only the domain for which we want the media to be imported? In my case I would like that only the media of the target site of the import are imported and not the others.
2 – Imported media loses their original download date to take the current date. As a result, the media library loses the ability to list the media by date. If it were possible to keep the date of origin that would be fabulous.

Suggestion for improvement: Some old content has captialized HTML tags – e.g. “<IMG” instead of “<img”.
I’d suggest you adjust the plugin code to account for this, by adding the case-insensitive flag (“/i”) to the end of your regex calls. That is, in “import-external-attachments.php”, around line 309-310, adjust the regex calls to:

I’ve successfully imported the images from the last 3 months, until I got a timeout.
But I’m importing images from a 7-year old newspaper (over 70k) so right now the plugin is of no use to me, as it now constantly encounters a “PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes)” or “PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded”.
As it will be impossible for the plugin to work on such a huge database on the specs of a shared server, I think it would be really useful if the author could implement a semi-bulk feature, that is selecting for example which MONTH’s posts you’d like to import images from, rather than loading them all at once.
I know that IF it starts importing, it goes smoothly with that ‘process 50 posts at a time’, but the problem lies BEFORE processing. It won’t even load the plugin page, and when it finally does, after pressing “Import Attachments Now” nothing happens. If I could just move past these steps and start processing, it will be fine.
]]>I have this working however, it’s not working with the bulk uploader. If I open up each post, check the box – it imports the images. But when I go to Media > Import Attachments, it locates all of the blogs with missing images but then when I run it – it says it cannot find the images. Any idea why bulk won’t work?

This has happened to me before with another plugin. My blog is large, over 120k posts. So instead of processing the whole site we set it up to do batch processing. Maybe if you limit it to 10k posts at a time?

As you can see, it’s not a proper .jpg file. It’s a query result.

]]>I imported a site from Squarespace, used the Import External Images plugin for most of the post images, but it didn’t work for all of them. I downloaded this plugin hoping it would recognize them, and it did not. I have 4 images in the content of each post, but some of the images imported fine, and others did not. The basic file path is below… I have about 200 more posts to go through with 4 images each, so was hoping to find a faster solution. Any help/thoughts as to why it is not working or how to import/link these images more quickly is very much appreciated.
