…Now it won’t even correctly verify the installation. The tracking script was in my website yet the HotJar control panel claimed over and over that it wasn’t when I tried to verify the installation. I tried FOUR different browsers, since it claimed that ad blocking in my primary browser was preventing it from working. The other 3 browsers have no ad-blocking extensions. Still no dice. I could see the requests reaching the site while trying to verify, and I even tested the requests that were made and, sure enough, the tracking script was installed.
So…?I’m done. I’ll find another way to tackle the task I needed to complete. My HotJar account is deleted and I will no longer be suggesting it to my customers.

the plugin states connection is verified on all pages I checked. The site says I need to complete the installation before continuing.

I have already tried a few analytics applications. However, I never found the right one. hotjar is easy to use and provides considerable insights even in the free version. Super. I can only recommend it.

I know that Hotjar is awesome, but this plugin was useless to me. After activating, it does not show anywhere. All I’ve got is a folder in the plugins directory.

Went against the better judgment of 1 star reviews and tried this plugin anyway. Manually placed the code and did the WooCommerce setup. The plugin still can’t receive data, but it gives a warning message that two code snippets are successfully installed.

The plugin worked only on one of my two sites.
On the other site, I can see that it has added the tracking code to the header, but hotjar fails to find the code every time. Ironically, it worked on the site that had more plugins, features and custom code installed!
Just doing it manually will likely save you time

I′ve been using this plugin for about a year (free account) and you suddenly took out the limit of survey responses (downgraded to 20 a month), got really disapointed because it was the only thing that could maintain your plugin working on my blog.
Deactivated and uninstalled.

It’s so impressive, see the user behaviors alive. The hotmaps and even the video function shows the way my users are surfing and using my website. Ideal for ux optimization.

It seems the data isn’t sent to Hotjar, finally I prefer using the JS integration directly.

Absolutely amazing product. Can’t believe how easy it was to set up and get it working to see recordings of my customers. I will upgrade ASAP from the free plan to support this.
Please keep the plugin updated and don’t let it go to waste like so many other good products!

Really helped me discover issues and improve overall UX of my website, would recommend to everyone.

It is supposed this is the official plugin, but it is super raw, it should have more options, like for example make optional if you want to track admin actions in your heatmaps… Well this plugin sucks, it is preferably to add the hotjar code by your own, no need to install this useless plugin.

Thank you for this awesome product ??

The Hotjar plugin works as expected and it took less than a minute to get it up and running! The whole process was super smooth (and by “process” I mean simply copy-pasting my Hotjar site ID into Hotjar settings).
It’s a 5 star plugin as is, but I’d love the addition of a user role restriction so I can exclude administrators from user recordings.

This plugin works and the setup is easily done. Good job! I wish changes reflected compatibility to latest version of WP.

The plugin isn’t working and support seems to be non-existent …

The Hotjar plugin (version 1.0.2) was unbelievably easy to install and get set up. You simply install, activate, go to Hotjar settings (under the main settings tab) and paste in your Hotjar Site ID. After that, it loads up your site with a notification that says Hotjar is working! It’s possibly the simplest WordPress integration I have ever done.
With that said, it’s so simple that it has no plugin options whatsoever. I would love to see the option to load or not load Hotjar based on a logged-in user’s role. I would prefer to not track the site visits of site admin as it skews the data. If the plugin’s developer add that feature, I think this plug-in would be perfect.
