Even many people give a lot of hate to this plugin, they should not! This plugin is not something that it’s useful your site operations, but it’s a nice boilerplate for people that they want to start building plugins for WordPress. It shows that you don’t need to write so much code to customize something in your WordPress app. It introduces the wptexturize function the get_user_locale, the admin_notices action hook and the admin_head action hook too. Yes it’s not the mode elegant thing that comes. But it can be educational for beginners

I believe someone is paying money to add this useless plugin to WordPress with every installation. If you see this plugin, please remove it.

Serves no purpose to most users and developers can just Google for a plugin code example if they need one.

It’s the most pointless plugin and is one of the first things that gets removed on a new installation. By default, there should be 0 plugins on new software.

Il fallait y penser, mais par contre pourquoi est-ce que c’est installé d’office ?

Pointless bloatware. Please remove this from the core install.

I still remember those old days back in 2005/2006 when WordPress was a blog oriented CMS that just worked. Nowadays, WordPress is becaming a website builder with tons of blocks and things oriented to stay away from the original idea: writing content. Creating a blog. Now WordPress killed the blogs ??
Because of this, and because I’m part of an old era, I love to keep this plugin. It rememebers me the soul of WordPress and the small idea to discover some jazz tips inside WordPress. It added personality to the project.
Thank you Matt for all those years backing the best CMS ever : )

Every time we create a new installation, this plugin makes us smile. It reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously and that no matter how bleak things may look, there’s always room for a little kind-hearted sense of humour in our day ??

Let’s just get over it and move on to new things. This is the most useless plugin ever created.

After many years, WordPress is STILL bundling this into all installs so you have to delete it when you make a new install.
I have installed probably over 100 wordpress sites over the years and deleted this 100’s of times.
Unwanted rubbish that shouldn’t be installed by default.
It adds no useful feature so why is it still being forced onto users?
Just check the wordpress hello dolly forum. Lots of people who don’t want this installed by default.
After so many YEARS, surely now is the time to make this a plugin that isn’t bundled in and is optional to download.
I am sure you would see how little people use it then!
Stop bundling it into wordpress by default!

Thanks so much for including this plugin with core installations. It’s very useful when learning how to implement custom plugins. It’s also insightful to be able to manipulate the plugin and see the effects on functionality.

Nice to see all the love for one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. I think you should go even further and throw in an Ella Fitzgerald too. Mix it up a bit.

While I appreciate the sentiment, nobody wants this plugin on their website. I always delete it first thing. If it was just sitting in the catalog I could ignore it, but by installing it with every instance, it annoys me and I want it gone.

Always removed on every WP installation because it’s useless bloatware. Out of all plugins that exist WP devs made a decision to bundle the most useless of them all on every install just because it was created by co-founder of WordPress, 18 years ago. Thy shall find no serious site using it, thy shall remove it promptly.

It’s all been said before, but I’m here to hopefully help make it loud enough to be heard.

This is not just a plugin, it symbolizes the disgust and disregard for the time and energy of people who make their living developing and maintaining websites.
And this is coming from someone who loves Louis Armstrong.
