This plugin needs to be removed from wordpress! Besides the fact the developer doesn’t update it, it’s completely pointless to use because the permalink you set does not even override wp-admin. It just adds another url for your site to get hacked…smgdh.

You can easily bypass this plugin and get to the login page by sending the cookie valid_login_slug=1 along with your requests.

Doesnt work at all!!

I love this plugin as it creates a clean look when someone tries to use /wp-admin or /wp-login.php in the address bar. It just sort of fades out then fades in the screen leaving the user on the homepage.
As WordPress has become more popular and everyone knows the admin login is /wp-admin it’s a small security thing to be able to have a different login address.
I have used this on many websites and have had a couple that there were conflicts, so maybe the new updates will help with that?
If not, just knowing that it is no longer abandoned is a good thing.

Worked for a while but just took down my site. Had to deactivate through cpanel. Then had to reset permalinks.

I’d been using the plugin successfully for quite a while. But somewhere along the line the password reset link stopped working. The link emailed out after using the “Lost password” form does not include the hidden word required to get to the login page when the plugin is active.

I have installed it on few websites, and is working perfect.

N?o funciona na rede

This plugin hasn’t been updated for 2 years and will not work on WP’s newest installs.
It’s still being promoted on Facebook etc. but simply doesn’t work.
To get back into site if you installed it and are locked out, rename your plugins folder, enter in ‘old’ way. Delete plugin. Rename plugin folder to original name. Activate all plugins again.

I installed this plugin, added a custom_wpadmin_slug and could no longer get into my dashboard. I finally gave up and had to go into my Cpanel and access my phpmyadmin settings and get to my wp_options to correct the problem. If you have fell victim to this, goto this link and read what one person posted regarding the wp_options

Not work in version 4.2.2
]]>Rating: 5 stars
Installation was easy, just set it up from the Settings -> Permalinks menu. “/wp-admin/” automatically redirects to the homepage. “/wp-admin.php/” 404’s. Checked all other possible default WordPress login links and nothing takes you to the login screen, only the custom URL that I setup. Works perfectly, thanks!

This plugin works on 4.2.2. Not only does it allow you to login from the new URL, but both /wp-admin and /wp-login.php redirect to the home page so bots can’t even get to the login form ??

It is still opening for wp-login.php
Totally waste of the time.

My site login page was getting attacked this morning and my hosting service recommended this plugin as a safety measure. Installed on a site running 4.1 and it bounced the wp-admin and wp-login urls to the homepage as desired. The new login url worked for my user name for about an hour, but a different administrator couldn’t login at all, trying on all different browsers. When I gave up trying help my coworker I went back to my station and discovered that I could no longer log in as well.
On looking at the file logs in cpanel I did notice that a W3 Total Cache “minify” page was getting called. I had cleared the cache after installing this plugin, so I’m not sure if those weren’t working well together. But it was just the css file, doesn’t seem like it should be a problem, but that file had never been called when trying to login before.
Anyway, I don’t know what the problem is, but there’s no point using this to add security if I can’t even log in. Deleted it through cpanel file manage since I couldn’t access the WP admin at all.

Warning: do not install this plugin if you’re running 4.0+! I couldn’t log into my site at all, and kept getting PHP errors.
Finally, the only way to restore my site was to go into my FTP and manually delete the plugin from underneath my WordPress plugins folder. Before that, I was in a panic thinking that it had totally screwed up my website and that I would have to restore from a backup.
Also, even for the people who use it, sounds like there are a lot of bugs that the developer needs to work out. While it’s a good idea, I wouldn’t recommend it until they start providing better support and a non-buggy plugin.

with the wp 4.0 version Always redirect to ho homepage and you have to cancel a line in htaccess file to solve the problem. terrible.

Super easy to install and configure. Exactly what I was looking for to add that extra element of security to my site.
Thanks!

Same problem as Htaccess1993

I installed this plugin. He makes me though my random Admin URI, but I can still access wp-admin and wp-login.php on it when I type this on the address bar in the browser.
Please fix it, then there is of me 5 stars.

this Plugin don’t work in the latest version of WordPress
]]>Rating: 1 star
Pretty much what the review says… it didn’t work. I installed and activated, changed the wp-admin url as directed, but going to the new url just gave a “page not found” message. Admittedly, I didn’t try very hard to get it working; I just deleted the plugin after finding that it didn’t work.

Spent a day and a half locked out, (and all members of the site also out) no idea why, edited db to change admin pw etc, then archived this Custom Url plugin by ftp (ie, put an x in front of the name) and hey presto, all back to normal (without the changed login url obviously).
So have to give this a one star as I just lost a load of time back and forth with host etc, and was just a malfunctioning plugin.
]]>Rating: 1 star
it changes the url to LOGIN to the dashboard.
However, if you login on the front end then attempt to access the dashboard via wp-admin you can access it. Also if you attemp to access wp-admin it redirects your to your login page and once you’ve logged in your redirected back to the dashboard.
This seems kinda pointless because anyone with half a brain can tell a site is wordpress so they would just register in order to evade this plugin.

Exactly as I had hoped, nifty plugin

This works perfectly once you get it running, and the way to do so makes sense … a textbox in the Permalinks page. That said, I had to look around a bit to figure that out the first time. It would be pretty simple to add a Settings link under the Title (beside Deactivate and Edit) in the Plugins list. With that addition I’d give it 5 stars.
