When I use the autocomplete of the “Author name” INPUT, author URL and description doesn’t get enabled. This only occurs with autocompletion, copy/pasting works as intended.

Would it be possible to include the guest author data in the wp-json feeds? It currently shows the author as the individual that created the post. Maybe an object in the _embedded object?

I know the function remove_meta_box is a core function and should exist, however it’s still called in a way where it does not.

Please fix or advise.

I think somehow avatar is requested in low px image and than scaling it up – making it blurry. I hope you can help me to fix this problem. Maybe my theme interfere with guest author plug in?

We have been having an issue as of late where author archive pages have been taking an extremely long time to return anything. Our site has over 6000 posts and is running on the block theme. Query Monitor is showing this query returning in 25 seconds.

Explain analyze shows nested loops cost=363481 rows=905801 and this is on 6600 posts. Remove the OR statement speeds up the query to under 1 second. I asked a data engineer I know why this is happening and her response

The performance issue you’re experiencing is likely due to the OR mt1.post_id IS NULL condition in your query. When you use IS NULL in combination with a LEFT JOIN, it can lead to a full table scan, which significantly slows down the query. This happens because the database has to evaluate the IS NULL condition for every row, even if the field is indexed.

SO as far as I can tell everything still working on the front end… pages coming up in reasonable amount of time and authors link still working correctly. So wondering why the NULL is in there and what it’s affecting that I’m not seeing

We use this plugin all the time, the only issue we are having is that the guest author image does not show up in the front end. We have uploaded it in the backend in the plugin but its not showing up . Any ideas how to fix this? TY!

Hello, We are using Guest Author 2.2 on our multisite network (activated site-by-site instead of network activated). Our sites are running the TagDiv Newspaper Theme 12.6.1, and we are having a problem viewing the author pages.

They are giving us a 404 Not Found error whenever a link with the path /guest-author/john+smith/ is clicked on. In the past a quick deactivation/reactivation of the plugin would temporarily fix this issue, but this is no longer working.

Do you have any suggestions for preventing this 404 issue?

Hello, is there a way to export all of the Guest Author data in a CSV format?

We have been using the Guest Author Plugin with html code in the Author description field for hyperlinks and formatting. All this html code has disappeared and if I re-enter it it is removed by saving the post.

Is this related to your latest update or an intentional change?

I wonder if it’s possible to fetch the guest data using graphql. I’ve taken a wee look and the fields don’t seem to appear anywhere.

For some reason whenever I try to enter the name of my guest author on new posts, its coming across as all lowercase. Where I was authoring posts as ‘EmeryAllen’ is now only coming across as ’emeryallen’. I don’t remember this being an issue before. Is it a bug?

Guest author instead of Jaimie Julia Winters is coming up as jaimie-julia-winters after saving or publishing.

After this mornings update when editors are entering in a guest user name and saving articles instead of seeing the name as “John Smith Editor of New York Times” the name is changed to john-smith-editor-of-new-york-times

I submitted this bug 7 months ago. You answered that this issue would be resolved in the next update, but the problem still remains.

When we specify a Guest Author on a post, that guest author shows up when the post is displayed on a mobile device.

But when the same post is displayed on a desktop device, the original poster shows up.

I have tested the plugin to our live website and in most of the cases it works fine. But it seems that it has a minor incompatibility.

We are using the boombox theme but inside the post page (example https://boombox.px-lab.com/audio-embed-from-soundcloud/) this part is getting override with the guest data and it shouldn’t.

I have a custom query that I’m writing that is pulling posts that have a meta value set to show up in a featured box on the theme I’m building. However, the Guest Author plugin is over riding my meta_query condition. Is there a way,without deactivating the plugin, to tell it not to run for a specific query or tell it not to run on a specific page? Here’s the query that I’m trying to get to return a single post ID where the editor has checked off that it should show up in the call out box on the sites’ home page. Here’s the bit of code that I’m using to grab a postID . This is wrapped in a foreach statement where I’m processing all authors that have a title set.

This is related to sites that are going to have a lot of posts, but you should add in a $query->is_main_query() check inside of filter_guest_authors(). Right now you’re adding the meta query to every WP_Query request that may be getting made on the author page, including AdSanity.

This isn’t a case of requesting you support AdSanity, just that. you only add your plugin’s meta query to the main query.

Hi, I have a blog projet with almost 50 authors but I don’t want to create 50 accounts on my WP. So your plugin looks fantasic for my need.

But, do confirm I can’t use regular author filter to build pages dedicated per author ?
